I am a very satisfied owner of a Free P4 and had a chance to pick up a new Leatherman ARC for just a bit over $150 (from AAFES) and couldn't resist the temptation at that price. It is a great value and has performs admirable, so far!
Made a mini griptilian back in the day when it was in the custom shop with OD green G 10 scales, 20 CV blade sheepfoot, stainless steel spacers and mini deep carrypocket clip. That knife stacks up to any modern knife all day long today.
Great bag, I carry my camera, lenses, glasses, mini (12oz) thermos, flashlight, multi-tool, but I do wish instead of the zippered pocket, there was a laptop sleeve.
This is like a breath of fresh air channel - I love EDC content but sometimes it gets too in the product weeds, this is a cool concept for a video, looking forward to the office EDC post!
Well done cpm 10v is probably my fav with k390 being a close second. In custom knives S390 is the god of edc steel and I can't wait for spyderco to start working with it.
I own and love this knife, too. I can understand why one would baby it, but I do admittedly use it as one of my daily use knives. Thanks for the video!
I really like my Mini Griptilian, but my fav small knife I own is my Chaves TAK. I always carry a small and large knife, and I rotate between my Chaves TAK, Delica 4 in M4, and an MKM Isonzo MCF in M390, along with my Spyderco Stretch 2. I also took my extra titanium pocket clip from my Chaves TAK, and put it on my Mini Griptilian, and it fits perfectly. Looks cool too. I put the plain one on it, and kept the skull clip on the Chaves.
Wallet and a small multi-tool (like a SAK), job done. Rest is just pocket jewellery IMO. Lugging a pen and a flashlight around day-to-day is not necessary for most people due to phones providing apps to keep notes and a small flashlight. Obviously those tools are useful when they're specifically needed, but not for EDC, just have a pen in your work bag and a proper full size torch by the door for when you need it. The 'pry tool', 'small cutting tool' and 'knife' are all sorted by a SAK. Watch is a style choice more than anything, so fair enough as it doesn't bulk out your pockets. All just IMO of course.

Hey Sam, I was curious if you ever switched the scales on this, or are you still rocking the same one's? I've seen hazy designs on etsy has some I'm interested in, but there's quite a bit difference in price of course.
A good review but as this is only comparing to another Leatherman Multitool, the title should be “Is this the New Leatherman Multitool Standard”. Which it almost certainly is (albeit at a much higher cost). However, arguably the Victorinox Tools are an (overall) superior Multitool to the Arc, there are other reviews on RU-vid which indicate this. So the title is misleading. No doubt the Arc has a better knife, but the superior Victorinox quality and the overall user experience and warranty makes it a strong contender for best Multitool. Perhaps another comparison review?
@@Zack_Axel Good question. The SwissTool and the Spirit each have their own relative pros and cons. Be surprised if there is a clear winner between these and the Arc, as it does depend upon the importance attached to each criteria - and that’s before taking into account the significant additional cost of the Arc. Whichever Victorinox you do choose for the comparison look forward to reading your review.
Ya I have that satin s30v, now dressed in titanium everything. I’d get another one. I want a tanto. But another wharnie would be better. I heat treated those at my job I knew they were a thing before they dropped same with the tanto. WE SHOULD CROWD FUND FOR A HAWK BILL PARA 2! Like the old super hawk dude would that be sick
I’m a truck driver and my EDC is like part urban survival/travel granted I’m home every night but I’m still in the truck for 13 hours a day so I like to have access to things like painkillers and certain tools to even help fix things on the truck if something happens.
This is seriously the only knife thats ever made me feel genuine envy when i see it posted. Ive had a few chances to get one, but im waiting to get one in S90V.
the mini grip is my favorite EDC knife with a blade length specifically under 3 inches. it’s so much better than the bugout to me. the ONLY bad thing about buying a griptilian NOW is that the aftermarket is becoming scarce. harder to find simple colored scales and you can’t order specific colors from benchmade as they only make it in the standard black now. i wish benchmade and all of the aftermarket companies would start focusing less on the bugout and back to the griptilian. everyone who has ever owned one talks about how it’s one of the best knife platforms out there still, so i don’t get why companies are on board with phasing it out.
Nope. The diamond file cant sharpen the Magnacut blade = insanity ! Lack of t-shank adapter. These make the Surge the King. Should i talk about the new cutters?! Its a very good looking tool and thats all (imo).
