Absolutely brilliant, without people like you Jeff where would we be ? Ingenuity personified. Britain needs these sort of people more now than ever before, great clip !!! Well done.
There's an epidemic of van break ins in London and the police couldn't care less which only emboldens them to do it more. And now the Labour government are letting them out of prison early will only make things worse. Our society is breaking down and no one cares!
Just need a system that protects high value tools. Either everything has to be on a register with RFID chips inside the devices and if you sell an item to a shop they check your ID no match then police pop up. If it's been tampered with police pop up. Sites like eBay should request serial number when you list an item and it must match a database for that tool, no match police pop round. The government could solve this tomorrow but they don't care. They need to make tools worthless on the second hand market and make it so police can easily check your tools if they come up stolen massive fine 10x more than tools new value.
Kinda agree with other comments it's kinda revealing weak spots for thieves. Really ford should sell these with welded cages inside with at least 30 minutes break in time needed. I just think if you protect the doors they'll find a way to spoof the electronics to just open the doors. I've always thought vans should have anti tamper magnet locks that trigger if the alarm is sounded. You know those big magnet locks you get on remote gates so if the alarm sounds they kick in locking the door magnetically. I think that would delay entry just enough it wouldn't be worth it.
Vans need to come with this security as standard from the factory. Too many hard working tradespeople are losing their tools due to poorly designed security
Man was staying in London and left any tools on his van? I’m a tradesman as well, if the van isn’t on the driveway of an AirB&B and backed up to a wall outside your window then you CANNOT leave any tools in them, for the sake of 15 minutes unloading it it will save you thousands… literally don’t get why people are still doing it
People need to stop blaming the manufacturers, the people to blame are the a-holes breaking into vans! Until we have severe punishment for this type of theft it will continue. And we need to have strict punishment for people/businesses buying stolen tools.
hi there, thats the problem when transits are not made in england anymore. poor spare parts, Ford should be ashamed of themselves. i grew up with the " Jack Regan" style transits you see on the sweeny.
Excellent repair, so sad that the new Ford Transit is susceptible to break in. The engineering and development into the production of your shield is well thought out. You are an engineer who has taken time to solve a particular problem. First class.
Doesn't seem to have changed much since 2000. My Ford van got broken in without much a do. It had 'high security' locks fitted but way too much play. Best solution. Don't have a side door. But a lock is only as good as its weakest point. Maybe an armoured van is required.
Its not avaible because they dont want you fixing broken vans. Like a cat s van , they want you to buy a new one . Dont buy a ford, fords have always been easy to steal from the early 90s up and till know
Create a problem, make the solution scarce and then, when you create the solution you can charge what you like and people will be pleased to pay for it. You can almost hear it "It was bloody expensive but at least it's a remedy."
Wouldn’t it be better to have a van with windows and have some sort of internal cage to put all your gear? Got to be cheaper to replace glass than metal!
Top quality of work as always. Van Manufacturers should have these features as standard, or at least have them as an upgrade. Given how much we pay for these vans, they are far too easy to break into.
excellent design on that internal piece especially. My only concern as a van owner would be that, as soon as a thief sees all the extra locks, they just instantly know there is something worth stealing in there, if it were me, I would simply add windows to it and some camper van decals, they wont be interested then, and at worst, youve got to replace a piece of glass instead of a whole sliding door
