Thank you so much for posting this! I couldnt figure out how to take the casing off of the harddrive because those mock screws look screwed into it. I was so scared I'd break it!
GREAT job Jim! You saved quite a bit of time there. I do this for a living. 1st time taking this type of DELL apart. And as you know, DELL has so many different ways of taking theirs apart. Been a while since I have taken a DELL desktop apart. been working on laptops mainly now for close to 2 years. So once again... Thank you VM Jim :-)
Thank you so much Jim I didn't need to replace my hard drive but when I saw the video of you taking it out I found out where the ram is so I can upgrade it thanks
tough question but you could try to tape the SSD onto the power supply (if the PCIE slots aren't occupied, (graphics card or wifi card for example). However, i think an optimal thing to do is to replace the primary harddrive with a 2.5 inch ssd, and add additional storage with a 2.5inch hdd.
i think you could fit 2 SSD's in the HDD slot. it does have 3 SATA connections (1 for DVD drive, 1 for primary hard drive). 1 more is available for a 2.5inch drive that could be placed on the power supply, but may interfere with whatever you put in the PCIE, like a graphics card.
