the best pan project video, showing your all progress throughout the year in one video, unlike other youtubers who dont have progress too much but keep talking in the video with no real results shown
Yay! One more month! 🎉 You are doing great! I too want the Naked palette!! I had always wished I had bought it. When it was out I had the too faced chocolate bar and it was my only palette and it still seemed like so much! I know I have all the shades though. Must resist! 💪🏻. It is nostalgic. It was the first Pan that Palette I saw on RU-vid with Amber F! I was addicted and amazed!
I have wanted it for years too and was saddened that it disappeared and I couldn't get it. When I first got into makeup I was only buying drugstore products then by the time I started buying some more expensive items and branching out to different brands it was already gone. Regardless, I've since bought multiple other neutral palettes that could probably give me similar looks. So, I'm staying strong and fighting the urge lmao
I am also really tempted by that Too Faced Appley in Love palette 🤤, however I know I just don't like their eyeshadow formula in that tin packaging, it seems so hard, densely packed, and I feel I have to scratch at it with my brush to get any picked up. I am a sucker for the pretty theme and color story though!! I might have to give them another shot. I just know I don't use my peach palette as much as I should 😢
Great job on sticking to your no buy! I had been tempted to buy makeup before, but lately have been doing ok and other things have been occupying my mind. Also I find that my makeup preferences have changed so might remove some wishlist items. A liquid liner dried out and my mascaras (2) are getting old so thought about breaking my no buy but I want to hold off especially because they’re boring purchases anyway lol
You can try adding eye drop solution to either to bring them back to life so you can finish them. If you have a mixing medium, that might work too, just a thought
I would love a video of you duping these palettes with what you have wether it's singles or includes shadows from palettes. And then do a look with each
You discussing underconsumption while having a ridiculous amount of makeup yourself is honestly making me wheeze laugh. You are one to talk?! Maybe you should get on the trend and address your addiction to *overconsuming* makeup. You have a nearly 25 min video discussing this trend, but fail to see the issue within yourself. The reason I stopped following you- and only check your page every now and again to see if you've changed- is *because* how genuinely nauseating your overconsumption and materialism is. The rise of underconsumption is addressing the very issues you ignore in your own content. For someone who does a yearly "pan that palette" project, you should have realized ages ago that you have more makeup than you know what to do with, and would ever use before it expires anyhow. It's horrifically bad for the environment, wastes money in an already crumbling economy, pushes consumption past what is healthy for human beings to have. Like? Read the room. Read yourself before you come on the internet to discuss something you're not actually ready to have a real conversation about. I used to *love* your content. As a fellow Latina, I wanted so badly to keep being a fan. But watching someone in, frankly, there's no other way to describe it, literal addiction to consuming makeup, is not something I can support. You have *no room to talk* when you yourself are the problem.
in Volume 5 you said you were going to do a video doing your favorite/best black lipsticks. Are you still going to do that? After all these volumes it would be interesting to see what your top 5-8 are.
One thing that will be interesting, regarding under consumption, will be Xmas, because we know that families and friends of influencers received a load of presents at this time of year.
unfortunately this is what most people have been seeing underconsumption as but it really started in the alternative spheres. with people showing their pants made of nothing but patches after years of use and shoes held together by ducktape and dreams. people just ran with it and are showing regular consumption rather than what it originally was. i feel like the same thing happened with “de-influencing” videos too
Sometimes I think about how I've been watching beauty content for well over 10 years now (hard to believe!) and how much things have changed over the years. I remember when it was a big trend to constantly be doing haul videos. They were fun to watch but as someone who was newer to makeup and really excited to try new things it encouraged me to buy too much myself. Because it'd see things reviewed and demo'd and I'd end up thinking about how much I needed to try it. I ended up unsubscribing from a lot of the channels that basically only featured hauls and that would show off their giant beauty rooms full of 100s of products. I'm grateful that over the years or buying products that didn't work for me or weren't the right colors that I've pretty much figured out what I like. As well as what works for me, my skin as well as what I realistically will use. So I'm not as susceptible to all the viral trends and launches going around. Unless they happen to fit into what type of products I usually like, lol. But, even then I can often talk myself out of it by looking to see if I have anything similar enough. I love the trend of having smaller collections and using up your products rather than constantly buying new stuff that you can't ever realistically use up. Hopefully it isn't just a quick trend and some people are least actually adopt it long term. There's something so satisfying about hitting pan on a powder product given how crazy long it takes! I had it with a bronzer recently that I've been using constantly for months and I was so proud.
I agree- I hope this isn't another quick trend, or at least hope it will help people find all of the great project pan content available. I agree- the pride and accomplishment I feel after hitting pan is so amazing!!! I love it 🖤🖤
If people didn’t milk these dumb as fuck “trends” they see other people doing for content, they would not be trends. If no one made videos about LaTtE eYeS, we wouldn’t have had a “micro trend” about brown eyeshadow. If people weren’t making videos about this dumb as hell concept of under consumption, it wouldn’t be a thing. This is not a real thing.
The green shimmer looks pretty! Underconsumption reminded me of a mix of minimalism and project pan. I used to watch a lot of minimalism content, but then it felt too preachy and pretentious to ONLY have 1 or 2 of xyz. I still try to be mindful of what I buy though and consider myself a moderate minimalist. I think I was lightweight doing the declutter and buy cycle in makeup specifically a few years ago, then lost interest in makeup and then came back to makeup, but now with no buy and project pan I’m trying to change my perspective on makeup. I still have wishlist items though and sometimes that makes me feel guilty lol. I don’t have tik tok because I think I would get addicted to it, so I just watch the funny vids my husband saved for me lol
Right. I like minimalism content as long as they aren't berating people for having more than a certain amount. Depending on how much you use "too much" for one person can be different from someone else. I think it's more important to have a collection of things you love and will use. Rather than fixating on specific numbers. I like having multiple options for certain products that I can rotate through. It might not be "minimalist" by some people's standards. But, it works for me. I've seen some videos that imply there's some sort of right or wrong number of products to own. I'm always left wondering who came up with those numbers as I don't think I'd be happy with that few products. Maybe if I was someone who only wore makeup on special occasions or something.
@@Jennilynne Yes, I like rotating through makeup products too! I don’t like being told what number is acceptable, but with that being said I do like watching makeup inventory vids to know their numbers lol. It’s fun to see the differences in category numbers.

I’m so happy Alter Ego exists, it allows me (and other consumers) to enjoy colour stories from brands I don’t wanna support or just don’t work for me. That said, the look is very pretty! 😍 these Alter Ego shadows are perfect for the everyday use
So i have the bh cosmetics waffle face palette and i debate panning it, but id use it more as an eyeshadow. I also find breaking my single eyeshadows into palettes helps ne use them so much. Right now i have a dupe of Naked 3 and TF pumpkin spice and i treat them like regular palettes.
I am wanting to just try panning a palette for first time, of course I have no pans in any palettes😅. I do have what I think should be an easy palette, bh cosmetics love in London, but as someone with lots of palettes how so you balance not letting other palette sit neglected?
Honestly it's difficult! I found the best way for me to make sure I use a good amount of my collection is to do a monthly shop my stash to update my everyday makeup basket
Omg “Bias free mindset “ phrasing. gives me the ick. I like the brushes themselves but i do not like rephr’s marketing funnel and constant sales, it feels cheap. Because there’s always the “testing discount” (sale) on, it feels a bit kamikoto knife vibes.
Honestly I prefer to use a liquid lipstick as a liner! The original KVD was the best, the reformulation sucks now. Otherwise the Black Moon Cosmetics one makes a pretty good lip liner as well
I don't use animal hair brushes but let's say they made syntetic versions for the sake of my comment. Even if these were the best brushed ever, i hate the way they introduced the brand. Temptalia said it right. What does a person who has never done makeup on anyone or themselves have do to with makeup users? They decided to make a few manipulative marketing tactics, use a few trendy words, and hype themselves up untill enough people agreed with them. Never buying from this brand. Those men have the right in this industry when they start using makeup in the daily. Untill then they can f right off.
I had a good laugh watching your intro about the company. Although I do think the concept of their founding is unique, interesting, and different. Which I am way more into than all of those celebrity brands. I’ve been watching them from the side for years, waiting for hype to die out like it did with white label companies CoastalScents/Sigma/Morphe/Zoeva. Of the few I have tried, have been just decent ‘for the price’. Of course I have been interested to buy specific brushes, but it is so hard for me to believe that they are better than the classic brush companies- Hakuhodo/Tanseido/etc. and makeup artist brushes like Cozzette/WayneGoss/BK/RaeMorris/ RT or makeup lovers like SoniaG. I think there are 2-3 brushes they carry that have shapes that I am drawn to, but probably not enough to purchase from them. I’d still rather spend a few more dollars and send it to companies who deeply love brushes making or using makeup. I'm not going to fuss over the money (for life's luxuries) when I know I am supporting a company I want to be around.
I 100% agree- if you have room in your budget and can save up for them, I would definitely save my money for people and companies who are dedicated and passionate about makeup artistry!
Great video! Mel Thompson worked with them I think in 2018/2019 before her passing on one that was supposed to replace the MAC 217 after they went all synthetic. All her videos are still up on her channel.
I’m glad someone is talking about their whole schtick… I didn’t know about their condescending kickstarter origin, but I’ve always looked at them and wondered how so many people are falling for such an obvious con. I have a couple of their brushes, and they’re like… fine? But the handles are so short and lightweight. They feel cheap. The prices are a joke. As you said, it’s the referral program that has made them popular, not the brushes. I’d rather stick with Sigma. At least women own it.
I use rephr and zoeva brushes exlusively (ok maybe with 2 exceptions) for a few years now. I buy a couple every year, always on sale, so I'm excited to listen to what you have to say!
I am so excited about this video. I actually am a fan of their brushes who was influenced by two creators - Hannah Louise Poston and Theresa is Dead. And at the time I was very new to makeup and had no clue about their start up hullabaloo, just that I was interested in trying real hair brushes and I’d heard good things from those two. I am still a customer. I buy a set every year. But ONLY on sale. NEVER full price. And usually when they have a good free gift with purchase offering. I’m very picky about when I buy. I love their eye brushes. But personally, their round one of synthetics for cream products was super disappointing. Prickly and shed like CRAAAAZY. Anywho I’m only 1/3 through this video but I had to say something and will probably come back with more to say when it’s done LOL 😂
