They look to be Whimsuns to me. I know this interpretation doesn't swap the personalities, but nevertheless having Whimsuns be a miniboss in Underswap is very fitting
somehow these guys reminded me of the three fairies of light from touhou sangetsusei, coupled with the usage of the zunpets in some segments of this song...
I wonder if the Ruined Knights were inspired by any Undertale characters, or if it was an idea just thought up out of thin air. They seem to resemble Whimsalot.
I killed the knights because i found them annoying in my original playthrough... regretted it the moment i saw a whimsun in the city of old wondering where they are
