Isn't the length from the top of your middle finger to the bottom of palm wider?(I've seen people measure it like that, what does that measurement give you? Some websites say that is the width)
Can this device do width measurements? Like a width measurement of something mounted high up on a wall that I couldn’t get to for a measurement? Thank you

Thank you for this trick. In my store we have Stihl tapes which looks exactly the same. People have problems even with new ones and stihl always exchange them as a warranty. We have 5 or 6 "broken" tapes and thanks to this trick we probably can repair them.
how well does a Trupulse 200 or 200L shoot through tall grass, brush, or other obstacles? If I were trying to measure horizontal distance between two points in the woods with several woody obstacles in the way, would Filter (Reflective) mode be able to work through the branches and stems?
I had to take two of these tapes apart because a professor dropped them unintentionally, causing misalignment. You would think they would make these tapes so they could withstand a 3 foot drop, at least. The worse was when the spring shot out. I saw it coming but it still scared the shit out of me. Getting it back in was not too hard. These tapes are made well except for the flimsy casing. So whatever you do, try not to drop them on a hard surface.

Thank God I found this. I had the tape break off and it completely released all the tension in the spring. I got the tape reattached but figured it would be a real headache to re-tension it.
Umm... I assure you stamped steel can be sharpened.. Most knives are made from sheet metal now. Just because forged steel might be harder and hold an edge better that doesn't mean that it can't be sharpened.
Too many people are confused on sharpening. Hard steel holds a blade longer but soft steel can be made sharper dulling faster. Filet knives should be a softer steel unless it's some mass Chinese product or American salesmanship figuring packaging sells it stamping stainless steel on it..
