Thanks, it's the same circuit, the only difference is one of the two transistors, here a BC107 and BC109, but on the Tuco it's two BC107s. Honestly, you can't hear the difference, as I've put in a BC107 equivalent to the BC109 in terms of gain. I had to change the name because Acid Fuzz is a registered trademark.
Great TONE! I have an original and I also built a clone: it sounds like you nailed it! It's a crazy, wild awesome fuzz! Both your pedal and my clone seem to sound a little more "midrangey" than my original, which has a very nice "presence" and a little more "sizzle", probably due to the transistors and maybe some drifting resistor\capacitor? The great thing that distinguish this pedal from the other "Fuzz Face" style pedals is the HIGH volume, the crazy range of gain and the overall balanced tone: not as dull and boomy as a Ge FF, not as crispy and bass shy as a Vox TB. Then it can be creamy or raspy, depending on the amp. And it cleans up very well with the volume knob! Great job, cheers!
Thank you very much! indeed the original uses SFT 352 transistors, as I didn't find any at a reasonable price I used transistors coming from Poland; ASY36S equivalent to AC128. It's true that this little known fuzz is great, unlike the others it has a good volume reserve! AND I find it less messy than some. After I'm pretty sure that no original sounds exactly the same! Between the resistors, the capacitors that never have the same values and the transistors, it's a lot of parameters! I also put a pump load (-9v) inside, and a turret board circuit. I offered it to a friend who is delighted ! facebook.com/farmerfactoryeffects/photos/pcb.265383949000907/265383779000924/
@@farmerfactory8922 Fantastic job! My "clone" is much more "spartan": it was one of the first pedals that I built! My original has SFT352 transistors in fact, but I read that some units used AC128s. I used low gain AC128s and the bias was a bit off, so I increased the Q1c resistor and now they sound 95% identical, like your clone: I agree that every unit was a little bit different probably! Sorry for my less than perfect english and congratulations again! ;) P.s. I'm italian, thanks for the "Peppone" graphic, nice tribute my friend! :)
@@mrkite89 Hello, Thank you, no matter what the circuit is, the only thing is that it sounds! Yes, with germanium transistors, it is often necessary to make some modifications on the resistors, not easy to have the good Hfe and leakage current! With AC125 it works well too, I did a lot of tests and finally I put the ASY36 You are lucky to have an original, I would like to but when I see the prices, it is not for me! For the graphics, I'm French, and when I thought Italy and Pep I immediately thought of Peppone who made me laugh so much! no problem, my english is not great too, I use a translator 😉
@@farmerfactory8922 I have an original just because I found it in my father's closet! Actually I never seen one for sale, they're pretty rare...just out of curiosity, what prices have you seen? Thanks...
@@mrkite89 Lucky!!! in fact I saw some on Reverb, after some ask a lot! reverb.com/fr/item/46925854-steelphon-pep-fuzz-pedal-handmade-from-italy-60-70s-ac-germanium-museum-pieces
On m a dit de jeter un coup d’œil et … très agréablement surpris maintenant existe t’il un site pour commander ?? Bonne journée et bonne continuation ++
