😝 Dunno. Always hear the stories but don't fish there often enough to really have an opinion on fish stocks in the area. Will definitely go there again, looks promising. On the day the water was extremely strong, so will def do a followup at some point.
In that area you can (not on the day) catch anything from a Galjoen to Steenbras and everything in between. Meaning, technically most the species listed for the Western Cape coastal zone.
The Catch and Release Notice Board clearly has the words "Applies to indigenous fish only" towards the bottom of the board. Surely that means that certain species caught at Zandvlei di not have to be released
Thx for the comment, here's a link for info zandvleitrust.org.za/archive/fish%20list.html is a good read for Zandvlei. "The Sharptooth Catfish, although native to South Africa is in fact an alien species to many of the waters of the Western Cape, it is proving to be a highly invasive predator." That's pretty-much the info I found with a quick search. Maybe there is someone out there whom can give us better clarity.
Bru! you blowing up the spots...lol! Love the betties bay beach...met Riaan Menser having a fish there once and was star struck. The first spot is it called "Die Spens". a now passed old timer steph in the town once showed me these spots and that was his favourit. Oh i dig the tunes baboons.
Yeh man, I don't get that side much. Sadly the conditions was not perfect but hey, we gave it the best shot we could 😃. Also, I worked hard on the edit to give a bit extra on Betty's as a destination.... Low and behold, gremlins had other ideas and I lost more than half the footage ( aerial shots ). So, definitely need to go there again.
My apologies. Wind on the day destroyed the audio. If I included it, the wind noise would have destroyed your speakers…. Or your ears. Upgrading the mic setup, so future vids should have much better audio. Appreciate your comment 👍.
What light are you referring to? UV light that makes things glow or spot lights? UV light I make for permanent mount on my H-Frame or you can buy a UV torch from any outdoor camping vendor. The Spot lights are LED spotlight and LED floodlight mounted to my H-Frame with battery pack in the frame enclosure.
Zandvlei species can be found here - zandvleitrust.org.za/archive/fish%20list.html Keep in mind that Zandvlei is a nursery and we should do everything we can to nurture it for future fish stock. Stywe lyne Bru.
Wayne Van Dyk commented: "Nice video, my kids love this squid catching videos, keep it up🦑🦑🦑🦑🦑. Where can I purchase a boat like that & what do u call it????" Wayne, thx for the kind words. The boat is an ARK Fishduc with a 4hp motor. New you can contact ARK Inflatables in Kommetjie or keep an eye on the secondhand market.
Technically nowhere around Roman Rock. The reserve encompasses Roman Rock on all sides. Best is to get the coordinates from the official Gov Gazette and map it on your GPS or Google Earth to show the real coordinated boarders. They are quite strict (if someone calls in a complaint) closer to land. Specially in the vicinity of Boulders Beach.
Thx for the comment, Conditions was light SE just after a couple days of heavy SE. Wind dropped off a couple hours before I went there for a session to try for a cob. I had lines in before sun rise and left at about 9am.
Mac's Kob : Love a NW wind after a few days SE wind: Reefs on the right: And side channel on the left: Plenty Harders present: And Kobs come a "Bending the Rods" Also don't stay on one spot: When you not catching: Move
