These are very valuable tips on how to break into the Radio or TV business as a broadcaster or part of a creative team. I am 71 years old and I had a 40 year career as an on-air DJ and TV personality and creating commercials for both in the Central Pennsylvania market -ranked 83rd top market (which isn't bad if you consider there are 50 states and just two markets per state totals 100 markets. I have done everything being explained here starting back at around 17 years old, actually, 15 years old as I was the high school newspaper sports editor and got some sports coverage and copywriting experience. Things haven't changed for wanna be's, in my opinion. Volunteer internships is worth more than money when you consider it may qualify you for a paying position in the near future, and you never know what influential people you will meet during your volunteer intership that may discover you! Go to your local Radio or TV station and volunteer to start at the bottom, fill the printer with ink and paper, whatever. And be around the pros, the equipment and see how it is done. You will make friends there and they will show you stuff. Nigeria certainly have amassing university campuses in terms of architecture and aesthetics, comparatively in West Africa. If we can only have some stability in our academic calendars ( no frequent industrial actions), they can attract international students from the region, Africa and even beyond and boost the country's foreign exchange earnings.
