Collecting Toys is a serious business, but we don't take things seriously around here. We're goofy, cynical, and say things like they are. From vintage to modern, and customs to dioramas - we are critically addicted to playing with toys.
Good video and thank you very much for the idea. I have the Jabba from the black series rancor pit set. I never liked the way they decorated his slime. It was very plain, just some straight white lines on both sides of his mouth. I saw your video and fixed it. And I added one more touch. I painted the inside of his mouth with transparent nail varnish, I also painted over his lips, on the nostrils and on the drool that I painted. And also on the eyes to make them look bright and alive. And the result is excellent, everything looks more realistic and more disgusting, just as he is. Greetings from Mexico
@@juancarlosmoreno3874 That sounds awesome! Ngl, I was really debating how far to go on this one, and am so glad I'm not alone in that lol. Happy to have helped, and by the sounds of it, I'm sure your Jabba looks epic now!
@@CollectorsCritical Yes, it looks amazing! Thank you. The transparent varnish resource I had already used it on the Gamorrean guard, on his trunk specifically to make it look wet. And also on the Anakin/Darth Vader with battle damage from 2005. This last one to make it look freshly burned and charred I repainted it with reds, oranges and intense blacks and then over almost the entire body I applied the transparent varnish and it looks very real and shocking because it really seems to be very hurt with blisters and pus due to the fire. I remembered that technique with Jabba and I applied it.
@@avocadobread5806 Nah, sorry chief - those Black Series Magna gaurds are bad. Mostly in the fact they fall apart if you look at them wrong... Though I do like their soft good capes.
@@obaconsulting The Jawa is a standard figure I had (I think it's Legacy collection, but not 100% sure), and the leaf is a piece of miniature fake plant foliage for military modeling that I trimmed all of the leaves off of except at the very end.
I heard they were going to produce the Water Moccasin , but Copperhead kept hurting himsrlf with his machete when he tried to sit in the cockpit, so it was postponed. 😂 I really hope they release the WM, its by far one of my favorite from childhood.
It's the 2nd biggest mistake. The biggest is that glaringly vacant bit of empty space on Jabba's pedestal. There's room for a whole extra figure there! The sort of figure that would be the main reason I would buy a Jabba set.. Oh well, maybe you could put Osha from The Accolyte in that spot.
Thanks for the tips. I will definitely use them. Your Jabba looked really bad, but the two I got were 10 times worse. The red paint was just blobbed on there. I was so disappointed when I first opened them that I almost listed them on eBay right then. Again, thanks for the tips. Hopefully I can salvage them.
@@UncleDino98 No problem, that's why I made this vid! Its really is awful how most of these new Jabba's have that paint defect. No excuse for that. But I hope this fix works for you!
Im actually shocked at disney's efforts VS Hasbro, newly tooled RX-24 with the new starspeeder 3k, that RX figure has goddamn wrist articulation, something not even present on the 2002 Park exclusive, Disney W, hasbro L
That was bad, AND, I was honestly hoping they'd do something amazing with his eyes. Look at the Blurrg, the eyes on that guy look very lifelike. We paid a fortune for this set and while I'm really glad we finally got it, they did drop the ball a little bit with it. So much so that I'd still say we don't have our definitive Jabba. I guess we'll have to wait until 2033 for that 🤪 I was hoping for photo-real everywhere on his yella parts. Not that stupid bulls-eye for the third time (or 5th, if you're counting The Black Series)
A definitive Jabba IMO should have an articulated mouth, removable tongue, posable tail, and drool coming down his mouth. But this set is still very nice.
@@sunwentai1 It is one of the Assassin droids Durge commands in the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon mini series. I can't think of the name off the top of my head tho. Unfortunately they never made the speeder bikes for them, but those droids are probably my favorite figures made from that show.
We Need an updated Max Rebo band we haven't had one since the Kenner 1998 walmart exclusive and Walmart re-released that 1998 packs with a boxed stage in 2008,for the 10th Anniversary.
8:34 Eightyem (yep, that's actually their name) was Jabba's original protocol droid. That's the 2-1B lookin' droid that was being tortured by EV-9D9. Now _that_ would've made more sense than 8D8...especially 8D8 without their torture branding device. So for the new collectors, you gotta buy the previous one from decades ago to get that accessory.
I've been working on making that palm leaf fan for a Jawa, and boy I just can't get it right to my specifications. Gave up on trying to find a fake leaf at Hobby Lobby in that scale that looks like it (I made a 1/6 one no problem); so gotta take a fake leave and cut it out to the shape...and that's mighty hard with all those pointy bits at that scale. The 'handle' looks like a black and white striped thing, but definitely no luck with that. Found the best option is back to the fake plant thing and use a stem; then just glue the meticulously cut out tiny leaf onto that. You definitely went a different route, but boy does it look better than others I've seen. Most look like a piece of paper (or actually sculpting a leaf) glued onto Boushh's staff. Most overanalyze it, when all you need is a store with all those fake plants, and really tiny hands and scissors.
8:25 And how _rrrrrrrracist!_ it is of hasbro/disney to not release the black guy from Jabba's palace! The OT only has like three black humans, and they can't even give us all three! _Pshhhh!_
6:44 This Salacious is a scaled down version of the 6" Black Series one, same with Jabba....then, like you said, went on to get released three times in 3 3/4" scale.
5:48 The closest to a more accurate lengthed Jabba tail is definitely the 2010 walmart exclusive one. It features a bendy wire; and boy is that thang long and does it taper!
If this set had a: Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson, Riddler in Alternate outfit, Alternate Joker head and the weapon they used in the Movie. Then maybe its worth $100
The diet soda one got me 😂. I did pick this guy up because I’ve never owned one. I even passed on the 1983 version as a 10 year old thinking how goofy it looked. Oddly enough my Jabba paint apps are really good. I don’t have the meat sauce that dark at all. Maybe the guy/girl that was applying the paint called in sick that day and I got the lucky batch? I enjoyed the video and laughs. I’m a subscriber now 👍.
I didn't get this one. I got the 2010 jabba set. I'm happy enough with the 8d8 from POF. I agree they really should have put a different figure, but the thing is they been loosing money on star wars IP. Between high royalties and failing source material, they have to resort to cheaping out on everything. That's why they keep releasing mandolorians, and darth vaders
I bought one, but had to buy it off of an ebay seller since it's sold out again on Hasbro Pulse! I like it, but I think it does look a bit too small. Also the bullseye thing on Jabba's belly is a bit annoying. The goblets that came with Jabba could stand up on the throne better!
I want the throne from this one I got my perfect Jabba from 2002. The additions here were pretty dissapointing. To add to stuff we aint getting anymore too No Ephant Mon or Hermie Odle or any of the bigger or taller figures. I like how they'll make tiny cardbacks for Crumb or a Mouse Droid but bigger characters seem off limits smh
@@CollectorsCritical I cannot pre-order anything from Target either. We don’t have anything on shelves at Target, Walmart, Game Stop or anywhere else on island for TVC. If it wasn’t for BBTS, I would stop collecting.
@@butwhydoe4020 I hear ya. The internet is the only way I get most of what I collect as well these days. We don't have Target in Canada, and our assortments in Walmart and Toys R Us are sporadic and random at best, and non-existant at worst. GameStop sometimes pulls through on exclusives, but that's also hit or miss. Also Toys R Us absolutely jabs it to you on price... TVC are $32 CAD and Black series is between $40-60... where as Walmart and GameStop are $23 for TVC and $32-35 for Black Series.
To be honest with you I do think this Jabba the Hutt is the best one we have got and he looks really cool in my opinion and I have no complaints whatsoever
If Hasbro gave us perfect we wouldn't buy the next one that fixes one thing and removes something else. It's the circle of life for collectors, at least we don't have to put up with that nonsense for DVD/Blu-ray releases anymore. Super-duper, special edition, limited release, metal tin, director's cut with extra scenes... now unrated! 😐
