Hey y’all! I’m Jen. Welcome to our little one acre homestead in southern Virginia. I’m a busy wife, homeschooling mom of 2, homemaker and avid gardener. Faith and family are very important to me so creating a home and schedule that makes those priority is at the top of my list. Just recently, I closed my jewelry business of 20 years to focus on another passion in my heart. I realized that what I loved most about my former job was connecting with people and creating something that would inspire and encourage. I want this channel to be a place where you can find help and inspiration to start where you are, using what you have to create a life of simplicity for you and your family. You’ll see a lot about home making, gardening, quick and easy recipes, diy projects, preserving food and more. Hope you'll join me on this journey finding simple ways to add a little peace to your home and more joy to your heart!
I don't peel the apples for apple butter, only core them. The peel will cook away and what lingers, gets mashed up with a handheld blender. Just an FYI to make your process a little easier.
OMG, that’s so funny that you said you wanted to make sourdough English muffins. I just made them this morning and they turned out delicious. I don’t think I will ever buy Store bought English muffins again. I used Rosie’s recipe on RU-vid. It is very easy, give it a try. I just found your channel and I am enjoying it so far trying to clean my basement so that’s what caught my eye.
@@denisewilson826 nice!! I’ll have to see if I can find that recipe and give it a try. Thanks for sharing! Welcome to my channel! Cleaning out the basement is hard work but so rewarding.
@@marylinajustice4287 nice!! I’m sure it will be great and your house is getting ready to smell heavenly. Enjoy! ☺️ I’m processing apples beginning today to make this year’s batch so stay tuned for a new apple butter video coming soon!
Oh, Hobby Lobby could get me into so much trouble. And it used to, before the hubs retired. I want to take my Mom to early vote tomorrow and we may swing over to Hobby Lobby. Just to look. Uh huh, lol. I pretty much use what I've collected over 51 years and what Mom has handed down to me. That is so special. I alternate each year in the dining room. I do a traditional colonial and the next year I do a 50s theme with the silver tree and vintage look and vintage ornaments. I have that Williamsburg book as well, although, I paid quite a bit more for mine many years ago. I have so many Williamsburg books and cookbooks. I love them all and really use them at Christmas time. Love the bench. And the price was great. Those little wreaths will be so useful. I use little wreaths everywhere. Good video my friend. Oh, and I never said, I so enjoyed talking to you and Tim live the other night. I felt like I hogged the conversation, lol. Wish I had been there. Woulda been crazy. Tim would have sent me packing. xoxDeb
@@thebrodabode73 the way you decorate sounds perfect!! I wish I could come and see it in person. ☺️ It was wonderful to chat with you on the live!! I’ve been wanting to take a trip to the Texas/Oklahoma area to visit my girls, Joanna and Ree. 😉 So maybe one day we can catch up in real time. Tim is used to all kinds of crazy!! 🥰
@@simplyhomeandharvest a meetup sounds wonderful. Pick one and Mike and I will meet ya there. I will put deco pics up on Instagram and maybe a RU-vid video as well. The decos are us with the grands in mind of course.
@@mellissamcdonald7286 yes, so exciting to see all the Christmas decorations out! Welcome to you! I think you are the first to comment from Australia. ☺️☺️
@@simplyhomeandharvest I’m Christmas obsessed but I’m trying not to buy any new Christmas decorations this year. So living through others and seeing all their goodies! X
Gods Pit Crew is an excellent organization!! As Jen said, they step up with boots on the ground and do whatever they can in times of disaster. I have saw this with my own eyes. A donation sent to them is a donation that you can trust to be used to help victims of disaster. Well...now I have to go to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. I hope mine has that Mr. and Mrs. Clause. I need that for my porch!! So many pretty things. I bet I can waist most of the day in there...lol. You got some really pretty things. Love the bottle cap and the bench!
I usually buy a case of veggies when they go on sale. I lucked into a sale at meijers, pumpkin for 25 cents a can. I picked up 4 cases, donated two to the food bank and called everyone I know who cooked to tell them.
I always keep both sugar and molasses in my cubbard and whenever I need brown sugar I just Eyeball like 1 teaspoon molasses for 100g sugar. That way you dont have the problem of the sugar becoming hard.
You were sitting very close to my daughter at Lynchburg. I saw her 3 times in the clips! She had a great time there. I wonder if there would be a way to add cream cheese to the filling of the whoopie pies, while keeping the mixture thick enough? They make me think of my pumpkin roll recipe and the filling is my favorite part..lol. Hope you and your mom had a great time! It is going to get cold here in the mountains of southwest Va. We even have chances of flurries Tuesday evening and night.
@@1CathyHendrix hey there!! How neat that you saw your daughter among the thousands there! We enjoyed it so much! You’ll have to attend with her next time. It’s such an inspiring and encouraging time! I think the cream cheese icing that you make for pumpkin rolls would be perfect in those. I used to make a pumpkin roll every year for Thanksgiving but haven’t the last few. I might have to pull that one back out this year… Snow already?!! Wow!! We are down in mid thirties this week so it’s getting cooler here as well. Hoping I can get some apples this weekend before frost hits the mountains. Have a great week!!!
@@JanetMitchell-qf8pz I am going to try this! Tim puts red pepper in their feed but that hasn’t worked so I’m going to go this route. How much red pepper do you suggest?
Your stock up philosophy is a lot like mine. As a country girl our family always canned a lot. Sadly I don’t do that anymore but when I buy canned vegetables I like to get several cans to have on hand. It’s nice when you want to make something to have all the ingredients on hand. I like knowing if my daughters need something they can come to Mama’s pantry or freezer and we can usually get by. I don’t hoard huge amounts of anything either, but buying on sale or replenishing what you use just makes sense. I’m still loving your videos…your channel is up there with my favorites. Wish I’d have known about it sooner.
My husband and I, try to do the same as yall..we have one child, thats married n they have 2 children, and they live here on our property next too us; so between them and us 2, we stock pile too..but mind you, we live 45 minutes from a grocery store..so we are cautious about staying stocked up for 3 to 4 weeks at a time..we do rotate everything, and we use it..we do try to donate anything we have, if a need arrives..i believe God wants us to help anyone thats in need..we strive to be a cheerful giver..loved ur video, thanks for sharing..have a blessed weekend..
@@sharroncasey9739 sounds like a great system! What a blessing that your family is so close by and that you all can share with each other. Thank you for the kind words! ❤️
I could not be here for the live. I lost my sweet 90-year-old daddy this week. I could never have ask for a better daddy, and I will miss him terribly. Hope ya'll made it safely through the hurricane. My area was hit hard, but there are areas that were hit harder. It's just been a bad week. Hope ya'll have a great week ahead and God bless!
I have heard about this, but couldn't remember the recipe. I let your video play over and over, to build your views. . I labeled a plastic jelly jar, ANT BAIT, and your recipe and directions for use. I put 6 cotton balls into the jar, and then drew out 2 of them and lightly squeezed out and set in 2 places. I very much appreciate you! I'm subbing.
Yummy! They look so good! That was a lot of work, but prepping a lot of steps beforehand was smart... breaking down into little steps instead of one big one. I'll try to be here on Sunday, got a lot going on this weekend, but if I can't make it I will look forward to seeing the video.
GIRL! What ambition!!!!! I don't even think in my younger days I would have gotten into a production like that. They look yummy and I'm ordering some donut pans from Wally. I think the grands will really get into this. Who knows? We might make several dozen if I have little helpers, lol. Have a blessed weekend sweet friend and I'll see you Sunday. xoxDeb
@@thebrodabode73 haha yes I questioned myself several times through the whole process. I would suggest starting out smaller…maybe just a couple dozen. 😉 Can’t wait to see you on Sunday!! Have a great weekend! ❤️
Please say a prayer for us. Here in Grayson county Va. and the city of Galax it looks like a war zone. I live in town so I was only out of power for a bit over 24 hours. Our water plant was devastated. Water is spotty and nasty. Internet is off and on...buffers a lot and phones don't work at all. The New River that flows through here crested at 22 feet over flood stage. 98 percent of the people here have no power, phone service, internet or water. I have never saw anything like it. Many roads and bridges are gone. Trees down everywhere. Campers, cars, buildings, and even horses and cows are gone. I am one of the very blessed ones to have power now, and internet at times. The water is sporatic...but I can flush! The only flood on record here with a higher crest was in 1940 at 24 ft. There is more devistation now then during Hugo. Recovery is going to take a long time.
@@1CathyHendrix I’m at so sorry to hear that!! There are so many suffering right now from this storm. My daughter works for a disaster response team and they have groups headed in all directions trying to help. There is group going to Galax leaving out at 6 in the morning. I know it’s all so overwhelming! Praying for you all!! Trusting that God will bring you exactly what you need, provide and restore! ❤️🙏🏻
Hello Jenn!! Your fall porch looks so pretty!! Your Cinderella pumpkin is so cute!! Your flower boxes turned out so pretty!!! Until you're next one take care and God bless 😊❤
