In HS I drag raced a ‘62 Falcon Ranchero with a 289/C4 in San Angelo, Texas (Wall). There was an old El Camino with a 454 that ran there also. I always ran 1/2 second quicker than that big block. Every race he would run 1-2 tenths quicker, but so would I. At my very last drag race I got my car down to 11.80’s and he ran 12.30’s. We motivated each other. If good SBF heads existed in 1982 I would have been running 10’s......
Awesome Collection... Great vintage video! Brings up memories of my own collection years ago. At one point my wife and I had a '68 Camaro, a '66 SS Chevelle, a '67 SS Impala and a Kawasaki 500 triple cylinder motorcycle sitting in the yard, ready for us to decide which one we'd drive. All great vehicles, but the Chevelle had to be my favorite, being the only one that didn't have the "stock" factory engine. What a Mover!!! 🪶 ✨
Neighbors like this in the 90's is who inspired me to get into classics, and now here I am about to go pull a rear end out of a wrecking yard to put into my 55, engine is done, a 1970 LS6 454 bottom end , L-88 rect port heads set up for a mechanical roller cam, Manley valved, K motion springs, for now I'm just going to get it running on a single 4 barrel . The 90's were rad.
Hey....honey....come here, quick. Hurry, fore' they see you. Look at this dammit! Them neighbors got them damn noise machines goin again. Sumbitch never shuts them damn thangs off! I swear I'm gonna call the damn Poooolice on 'em wun these days.😂
Before Noppinger got rid of the vette was to do burnouts on public roads. That's all it was good for. He is a real A$$ that thinks he is special. His claim to fame is a monetary gift to his high school with his dead father's money.
Looks Like Us guys back in that Time... Yeah my Buddy had A 78 Trans Am with A 421 Super Duty in It that Uncaped sounded Like That.... My Dad Would Come Unglued!!!
I was 20 yrs old then and had a nova that I drove all thru high school and street raced and track to ...i had s solid lift cam by cam dynamics it was a 543/560 lift and 256/265 duration at 50 and a 106 center line and it sounded alot like that 55 ... sounds sweet brother...i ran 11.20 at 122 in the 1/4 and 7.30 at 94 in the 1/8th way back then... nobody around were i lived could even get close to me on the street .. those were the best of times...
that sounds like it ran very good! the 55 had a crane solid lifter flat tappet in it,600-620 lift and the duration @ .050 was 266/276, it was ground on a 110
Wow..I know that guy..It's Mark Preston of Bel-Air Maryland!!.I bought some 67Nova parts from him while I was in high school..He has some really fast Chevy's!! Fat Traxx was his pride and joy,a 66 SS Nova...Glad someone documented his past cars!!
Never heard of anyone named Chubb owing it. It’s a Harford county Maryland car. I bought the body and put a big block in it . I ran it in gray primer for 18 years. Got it in March of 87
@@BENCHSEATRACIN Thanks for quick answer! I own a 66 Nova built by rhodes. Was a old Maryland car, and I bougth it from Keith Chubbs in 2008. Im trying so hard to find old videos or Photos of it!
@@DrangeDragRacingTeam1967 I know your car. My buddy Al Ritter owned it. It was red at one time. I have pics and video of it I think from Cecil County Dragway . I know I have video of it with its current paint job. Al got it from a now deceased guy named Kevin. He’s who painted it red and had a stripe on the side of it.
I had a 55 210 two door wagon. 327/4speed/ 12 bolt 4:11 gears. sold it for a ‘71 corvette over 20 years ago. I feel fine about it needed floors and no one made them at the time and I wasn’t that good at that stuff back then. It was cool , but to me unless its a resto-mod its like driving an old truck.
I had a 56 two door wagon 210,had a 4 speed and a 265 with 2 four barrels and a solid cam. Body was good, but floors and wheel houses needed repair. I posted it for sale and the guy who built it originally called and bought it back. It went through a couple owners before I got it. He was glad to find it years later
@@BENCHSEATRACIN Thats very cool that you got your car back! I sold mine to a freind, he took it apart and still has it in pieces. I could Probably get it back but It would take too much money to get it where I would be happy. I since upgraded the corvette. I have to say I get more enjoyment out of a car that I could drive anywhere than just a Sunday driver. I really like that I can open the garage door start it and go and only do routine maintenance. I love working on cars but a car that you can’t go too far in ,park and leave and not worry about takes the fun out of it for me. I really enjoyed your video seeing the old cars again -thank you!
@@MrsSunshine75 it was a 454 .030” over, had what I call a 12.5 to 1 closed chamber piston with a GM open chamber 188 square port head. Had a Crane 600/620 lift solid flat tappet cam in it. Was a 2 bolt block and stock rods with pioneer rod bolts.
I went for a Suzuki GT550 , a 3-cilinder 2stroke caferacer, ofcourse i had to make a testdrive on the road . As i came to the side of the road, i saw the neighbour come running from the back of his house to see and hear this awesome bike!
