Also, I was wondering how the Bodbyn off-white door compares to the Grimslov off-white door? Are they the same color? Which finish is more durable? Thank you!
I will do a review AND comparison, just for you! I really like BODBYN doors - they are of excellent quality! I have grey BODBYN kitchen myself with some custom elements.

I plan on remodeling my kitchen in the spring and I am having a very touch time deciding between three of Ikea Cabinet Door Styles (Axstad, Bodbyn, or Grimslov). I keep going back and forth. I am looking to select a cabinet color in white. I like the White Axstad, but I wonder how easy it is to clean stains since it has a matte finish. I am also concerned if it might look "too white" in my kitchen. I also like the Off- White Grimslov cabinet door. I like the Off-White Bodbyn cabinet door, however I noticed a lot of yellow undertones and I am afraid that the off-white bodbyn might look yellow in my kitchen. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Nice review! I would love to order these, however, can't get the cabinet frames or doors or anything out of Ikea right now. What's really frustrating is that they don't have any information on when they will be able to fill Ikea cabinet orders. If I knew it would be 4-5 months, I will wait. If it's going to be 18 months, I can't wait.
Outstanding review ! I was waiting for a neutral color choice in the slab doors . The Havstorp seems ideal . I noted though that this line can not be purchased in the stores . According to their websites in indicated that it can only be delivered in select locations . Combine that with the fact that they still have a huge shortage on their boxes / frames , it might be a while to get them .

@@kingkosnik Yes , in the US market . You are absolutely right in how messed up it truly is . I saw a kitchen planner 6 weeks ago and at that time there were no base or top frames available . I could not place the order for my kitchen . I checked every day but nothing in yet in my state . The staff could not even tell me a time frame when inventory would improve . It is beyond disappointing .
Great advice ! Just now getting into the kitchen project and the demand has never been greater and inventory lower ....ouch ! I prefer minimal slab style doors . Which door fronts is most durable , recommended by you . Are there any that one should absolutely avoid ?
I think IKEA makes good doors - there is a balance between cost / design / quality. I would go with the design that you like - obtaining replacements is ~relatively~ easy - focus your savings on taking the design out of the 'Ikea kitchen planner language' - hey! I will be offering a course on Ikea Hacking soon! Good price point too!
Hi Karol, done mine in 5/8 cause this is what I got at home, I've done an 4 x 10 feet island on 2 box drill together. Do you think it will be strong enough to support de 800 lbs quartz countertops? Or should I drill another 3/8 on the the exterior box to make it 1 inch think ?
I literally 'WRESTLE' with my island installation after I am done - it should feel rigid and inspire confidence. I have a blog entry with detailed drawings on my blog - that is a great guide to follow. I like 3/4" thickness because it allows you you use no.8 woodworking screws [but I always use glue and pin nail/staples] - BUT if you stuck to the dimensions I've provided for the basic build it will be OK. There is lots of 'sheer loads' on the top of the cabinet assembly when you slide the stone across - that's one thing I always pay attention to [hence 'wrestling' - mimics the slab being slid across]
I was in IKEA last week. I saw the white inset with little bubbles. When I looked at gray and blue they were perfect. It’s so disappointing that they don’t do the same with white. When I mentioned this to the IKEA designer he had no idea what I was talking about. I’m going to have to go another route because if this. So frustrating.
It shows that IKEA is able to produce a quality product if it gets a proper review. My guess they will 'run out' of the old White AXSTAD and then release the new White AXSTAD. Shame, because I do believe that is a very beautiful, well priced design.
I love the style of the Axstad but the rough finish on the panel detail absolutely ruins it for me and makes the doors look cheap. I can't believe Ikea is selling these with this design flaw. I noticed it immediately in the store.
Blue Axstad.....whoa! I haven't even seen it yet! Ikea Etobicoke, my stomping ground, has a ~1hr wait to get inside...I really avoid going in, but now that you have told me about it I will go and check it out. My guess is that they will produce it a'la grey axstad, which in my opinion is a nicer door.

Great video Karol! For the sink box, my question is how do you accommodate the sink box drawer and plumbing? If you are building a base, that's say 3.5", that leaves very little space(~3"=24" box - 17.5" drawer - 3.5 wide base) between the sink drawer. I was hoping to line the pipes about an inch away from the back wall of the box. Thoughts welcome.

Hopefully within the next 2 weeks. You will not believe how liberating it is to have that base - precise visualization of the location, U get what U see - super easy to level - works on any surface - super solid too.
Yea! Totally! I love working with concrete - I have done some cantilevered seating - you can do some pretty crazy geometry ON TOP of having fun with inclusions [my cousin is a NYC engineer - digs up /fixes infrastructure, stuff he finds! historic pieces/glass - vintage, historic NYC, right in your kitchen countertop]
