Not silly, just accurate. I’ve been to several of his gigs over the years and I really enjoy his performance and the atmosphere, but there is no denying that he doesn’t have a good enough singing voice. He should employ a singer and stick to his guitar
There’s no denying that, except that he didn’t sing much in The Feelgoods and not at all with Ian Dury, so it’s only since he went solo, though that’s a very long time. He was better on recordings than live. Whether that was because of technology or just more takes, I don’t know. The singing at gigs could get a bit tiresome as he got tired! What a pity that he’s gone.
This, Dr. Feelgood, Mick Green and the Pirates all share one very important characteristic. In every band, the bass player was the crucial glue and solid backbone of the sound. Great drummers were also in common as well.
The God-like Wilko. Going to see him tonight. One of the most underrated guitar players ever. It looks simple but just try and do it. Can't wait for tonight...
