Thanks for all ur videos. You’re my go-to channel for Rhino & Unreal. I had a question but didn’t know where to ask: Do you have a tutorial on the display mode we see here in this video? I use basic UV texture in a simlar way, but I’m teally intrigued with what you’re using here. Thanks!
I’m only able to achieve ~25fps on my Quest 3 and GTX 4090 on the UE VR demo using your settings and it feels pretty unusable. Laggy framerates and very noticeable black edges when I turn my head slowly. At pixel density 0.5 it’s pretty smooth. Have you noticed a difference between SteamVR and the Oculus App in terms of performance? I haven’t been able to connect using just the Oculus App.
I have been exclusivelly using the Oculus App. Hmmm might it be that oculus framegen is available only on the oculus app?.. either way, you can bump up the performance drastically by using DLSS (free downloadable plugin) . There are quite a lot of tutorials out there.
Felix uses Luxcore rendering engine on their servers which surprised me. Luxcore is free opensource spectral rendering engine that calculates light behavior very precisely. Its one of my favourites.
Thanks for putting this up. Do you know if it works with archicad? Also where you put the wood material up, is there a way you could give it a texture effect too? Say make it look like vertical t&g?
do you still have the 3D plan or the 2d for the laser cut, i find your work verry good and i am intersted in construct it to train myself during the summer
I like that video Mr. I like your cat @the beach and the Bell and Howell Anate is rad too. I think it was the Living Legends a few years ago had a song about “you’re not artsier than me!”. I’m reminded of that song as I view your cinematic creation. Nice work cad man.
The engine is actually free, but you render on their servers though, so you pay for the server use. For a truly free render-engine (that does require you to have a powerful pc) - check out Twinmotion or D5 Render, both are great!
@@geddan What joke are you trying to tell me? The new Porsche is free but the road toll costs 20,000 per hour. Or where can you get the engine without using the servers? I don't need free software, I've always paid for good products. But I'm annoyed by your false advertising promises, you're fooling us. I've already tested Twinmotion and D5 and I don't think much of them.
Thank you, great video. Helped me understand several concepts. I also learned that GPU time doesn't seem to be a problem in my project. I'm getting FPS ~40-60 but it used to be 72 FPS on another level (with Lumen and all on RTX 3080). Stat unit Game times is ~18-20 ms and GPU is ~10-11 ms on a level I'm optimizing, so there is a good gap there, but I see some drops and the FPS doesn't go any higher. Looking at the ways to debug CPU and what else can be causing drops. I'd appreciate any advice or link in that direction. I do see some issues with physics when drops happen and at 72 FPS physics simulation was running smoother.
Great stuff! If you can get more into the lens physics, you can add a focused glass in-between so that way all light can project onto full sensor. It's gonna be kind of like a speedbooster. But I think that might be more than a hobby project 😂
@@geddan Yeah true. People generally buy those lenses because they are generally cheap and the look of them is good. Lastly, a lot of people is also using Helios 44-2 58mm, it has very good bokeh and it is easy to adapt. Maybe you can try that one too.
Hi. Great content. Couple of issues here. Firstly, Only v3.7 is available for download and it does not yet support U5.4. How did you get v3.5 working? I get a launch crash on VR Preview when FrameGen plugin is enabled. Runs fine when disabled but I see no increased fps.
Thanks for the video. I seem to get compiler errors for the UI blueprints when running even with the plugin installed correctly, using RTX 3070...and running with Unreal 5.3. Can't work out why yet....
@@geddan Yeah, the DLSS plugin is working but the menu UI in VR doesn't compile properly for me if I migrate it to my VR template, the sample project DLSS UI works ok for me though. So I can open the menu in VR but I can't change the settings. I wonder why the UI breaks in my VR template. Do you know if there's a way to change the DLSS settings in the console?
I'm starting to explore and learn about this field, and I really hope you can make a detailed video about the modeller you showed in the PlanFinder video on Grasshopper. Sincerely appreciate it.
Yes - it's a proportion rather than a flat improvement. So it's more visible at 100+ fps scenes.. But to be honest - 100+ scenes don't benefit from performance improvement as much.
Does anyone else developing with a quest experience black screen smearing when turning your head? My Scene runs great on desktop but the moment i try with the headset i experience that issue
To me it seems like it's turning off reprojection when Frame gen is enabled, so it's not that you're getting 2x more frames with framegen and then 2x more frames on top of it with reprojection. Still - AI generated frames is better than reprojected frames IMO.
Just came across this vid! I'm a licensed architect in the U.S. as of a year ago, and it's cool to see someone genuinely using Rhino for their workflow. I'm all about staying away from the subscription programs these days.
The resolution in my Quest 3 is horrible when in headset. Any ideas what I can do to change that? I'm running a 4090 so I want it as crisp as possible when in game.
If you're using the Air Link (wifi) - make sure that the router that's responsible for establishing the connection is capable of running WIFI 6 and also that the signal is good. If you're using a cable - make sure that the cable quality is decent.
Just choose a black background on Toggle Render Settings (Right click on the blue ball render icon), open the Background tag, and select Solid Color Black
Hi, in the video from 5 months ago (UE 5.3 VR: Optimizing and Troubleshooting) you said that it would be possible to download this scene. There is no download link in the comment. Will it still be possible to download it somewhere, but it is unavailable? Thanks for the info
Yea, it's available to the patreon supporters. I'm still working on the model for my VR project. Once it's done - the packaged VR experience will be handed out for free.
@@geddan Thanks for your reply. I asked because I have a problem and thought your .ini might work for me. What the problem is. The settings from the .Ini file from the VR tamplate are ok. After trying it with Lumen there is a problem with pixel sharp shadows, blurring a few meters forward, and lagging on the side of the screens when turning the head. (Quality Medium/Epic, Anti-Aliasing enabled) (RTX4070, i9, questPRO). Do you know where I could find some test .ini for VR and test it. For now, I'm rewriting the lines (r.__ ) from the VR template and looking to see if this setting and its values are causing the problem. Thanks a lot for the info :)
