I don't think the tone it gets is from the tube acting like an overdriven device, but as a sort of diode/rectifier. With the small power transformer and low voltages, I suspect that much of the "feel" it has is due to the sag on the output as the power supply cannot keep up the power needed for output. An easy way to tell is to load up a long audio cable on the output and see how much more sag it has. I am not really impressed with the design, but it's just another pedal with a weak power supply.
The Dutch is at the top of my favorite pedals list. I got the Dutch² and run one side for bass and the other for guitar. Trying to figure out a way to incorporate the Kokopelli on my board... 😁

I wish they had a tube amp that had a built in compression built in with option to go off and on with clean channel or gain channel, or maybe built is stacked OD.
Something I highly appreciate is how this plexi in a box pedal is based on an SLP. A lot of plexi-in-a-box pedals tend to be based on the JTM. Absolutely nothing wrong with the JTM, but I lean towards the SLP. A screaming superlead is a visceral experience

I am a proud owner of the 6868 stack 68, deluxe 74 and 74 deluxe lol love them all and they have saved me a lot of work switching. Those petals around doing local gigs has been so much easier. I don’t know if you have, I am totally blind so I’ve done research and used your website but I would truly like to know have you ever considered because I tell you your petals are the best I have ever played. They are the only dry petals I play ever, they get all the tones I’m looking for, but I would love a breaker pedal and I wonder because your pedals do so well and are so responsive to pick attack and give me the harmonics. I’m just surprised you haven’t put one out I know there is a lot of competition, but People only need to try your petals to tell the difference I have never in my 39 years of playing and 27 years of teaching and being a masters graduate from Berkeley played petals that responded as well and certainly not at the price point you offer which is incredible, thank you again for this great demo and the information however, I should’ve found it long ago because I have already gotten all of this done and I am sure enjoying it do you ever do custom work for gigging musicians who are actively touring that blues breaker pedal would go along way for me thank you. This tube driver actually has Chandler written on it..yes Chandler industries distributed but ended in 1987 After that BK continued with his current tube driver which is still available to this very day
I was hoping to restore my AC powered Tube Driver Real Tube Overdriver, Concept and Design by BK Butler. The original grounded outlet 3 conductor power cable was replaced with a 2 conductor dis-connectable power cord. I noticed in the video that there was no ground wire connected inside the enclosure. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? I think this means the 3 conductor power cord provides no ground. Converting back to 3 conductor power cord would provide no benefit. Is the power cable ground connected to the chassis and not visible in the video?
