Warmachine screwed me. I had a complete Protectorate of Menoth army. Now they are gone. Guess I can use those models on OPR now. Makes me very cautious to support Warmachine now they are rebooting.
Well if you are taking requests, I would love some more 30k content. Always loved those episodes. Great episode by the way, been in that situation before, still miss WAB.
Hopefully getting more 30k soon. I like having the other guys when doing that, especially since they played a lot longer than I have. Maybe once things calm for them both.
QUICK mistake I did during recording (I know Dave mentions it lol but also nice to self report) So you will see I only took one bone golem - it was SUPPOSED to be two - but I’m an idiot and couldn’t see the (2) in my army list lol. It evens out because I illegally let the bone golems double clash, but other than that it really wasn’t that bad.
Dan here! So funny enough I go back and forth on this A LOT. With some armies, and some ranged units, taking them in small clumps is really not effective and can generally lead to a unit underperforming. On the flip side, there are some units that are amazing ranged units and need to be in a list some way or another. I generally tend to take A single unit of ranged power, although probably four bases big, and then opt the rest of the army as melee
Always prefer to game in person but so much easier to do examples without clearing my table. Plus you did a good job so show off those factions I don't have painted lol.
It's not terrible, but only one of these units wants to sit on objectives. The Satyroi x2, Haspists x2, and Polemarch's regiment's command stand score, plus the Thyreans. I'm wondering if cutting a couple stands to add in another Aristarch to carry the Standard of Last Oration would be a net boon or not, and leaving the Polemarch to focus on denying control as opposed to trying to gain control. At a minimum, it allows more interaction with objectives, but makes it clunkier to apply that interaction.
Battletech the game is a great thing to get into. However- you should NOT support Catalyst Games. They canned an author who was being stalked by a deranged lunatic after publishing said lunatic's "stories" in one of their publications. Buy third party and get the rules elsewhere. Battletech survived without Catalyst for years, and so can you.
I do love me some stompy robots. Although I can't wait for VR integration of Megamek so I can automate all the rolling and tables and not take 20 minutes to resolve a single LRM salvo
We played tonight actually. Biggest challenge to me is remembering what weapons I wanted to shoot. I math for a living so the math part is fun and fast for me, its all the rest thats slow lol.
@@terrainkickerspodcast Maths I can do, stuff like TNs are no issue for me. It's the constant referencing of tables to find out which following table you need to roll another 2d6 on which tells you another table to roll on which....
I find when I play enough, which isnt often, but when I do I just know all the tables. If you use them enough you remember them, at least for me. Unless its one of the weird ones that only comes up cause you did something insane.
I am in the Philly burbs and not really aware of a serious Conquest scene, sadly. I am trying to attend the Wargamers Guild tournaments regularly and do get games with a few players in my area every now and then.
Not a miniatures game, but definitely check out Aerodome for a dog fighting game. It's very simple and is played on a regular sized trading card game mat.
I get the analogy. But the real problem with math is that universities aren't ready for the students. Stop pushing Calculus onto freshmen who will never need it (except to pass their math requirements). And if they can't accept that add a remedial class. It's not rocket science...if it is actually a teaching institution (which we know it really isn't).
I remember when they switched x-wing from first to second edition. that year, there were ridiculous deals at Spiel in Essen where they basically got rid of their old stock. Really looking forward to Spiel 2024 now, in case they are doing the same again. It would be nice to be able to stock up one last time.
Armada never got played around here. X-Wing was enduring. Increase and decrease and increases again. 2.5 came out and drove some away and brought others in, but the games still died off. Shatter Point has no presence locally. I'm curious of how Shatter Point is doing. Have a good day.
@@terrainkickerspodcast I’m mostly a Nords player but I have been building a CS army. This seems pretty good. I’m not a huge fan of the other titans but I have Nords to compare
I recently bought into a small mechanicum force because I love the models. I've started with Ursarax, Vorax and Thallax with the understanding that Mech aren't in a great spot this edition. But, you guys are waaaaay more positive about Mech than the rest of the Internet (or so it seems). I am curious to know whether your opinions have changed since recording these videos. In fact, I'd love to listen to a podcast where you discuss things you got right/wrong when you were doing these rules reviews. Anyway, thanks for some great content.
Waiting for models to come in the mail, but have been theorycrafting. I like the idea of a warlord sorcerer using her mahut-arajah buddy as a conduit for her spells. The Mahut-arajah seems like the best way to have a unit that can stick against an opponent longer than one clash.
I just started collecting Spires and got my start with the One Player Starter. Now that the 5th Anniversary starter is out will you being doing a video on that and how to expand from there? In my case that will be my next boxed set, since for the value you get a lot of big units; however, I like a fresh perspective and I'd like some ideas on how to expand with that box. Great video. Thanks!
Could you spend just a few minutes talking about wheeling in from the flank? Size of regiments that can do so. Why and when (you touched on this here and I appreciate that)? I play Nords and CS so I am looking at this from a particular point as well.
I wish things go well for you! I really appreciate this video. Since my playgroup is homegrown, our meta is really skewed towards smaller MSU regiments. I have been slowly exploring larger regiments and this vid helps contextualize their use FYI the title is for turn 0 and supremacy
Great video. I would like to see some of the tips and tricks how to move / set for charge, create best defensive positions etc. Rank and flank is kinda new for me (former 40k) and all these nuances are hard to come with. Maybe you can do it in the TTS and recreate all these situations and talk about them a bit. Thank you!
I think a short form battle report with end of turn overhead shots, where you explain why you moved what you moved and where you moved it would be highly consumable. I think there’s the actual minutia aspects that people want to see. I don’t want to sit through two hours ofthinking.
He's called the coward because he's one of the only NL that battles Honourably. He was often chastised about it. The term "The coward" is given to him ironically. As he would fight and die for the legion rather than fall back
Erebus is an EASY S tier. So, here’s how you play him: in a 20 man tactical squad. Because they’re corrupted and he’s fearless, they will never EVER run and that’s 20+ wounds to chew through before you can even THINK about getting to him. He takes 2 sovereigns in the list in a Dark Brethren Rite of War. Then you take a couple 5 man lascannon squads and support squads with warpfire blasters. The Lascannons ensure you will always plink wounds. The warpfire blasters cause pinning which means the opponent cannot react to anything. Then the Sovereigns just go absolutely HAM and receive the Dark Brethren buffs (after a single buff, they’re at WS7). I’ve seen this played before and it’s up there with Iron Hands Fury of the Ancients. It’s obscenely good and it’s only possible because of him. I’ve also seen him in a command squad with all shields and power swords and that is also a chore to get through.
Every dweg game to me is a negative experience, i think your last few minutes of this episode actually put into wordsy experience as well. They arent fun to play against.
I will say my last game against them wasn't negative, but it also ended up not being close so might have been by the stronger position I was in made it feel less oppressive.
Sorry to hear about the dental issues, but thank you for the analysis. I’m getting into Conquest with this army and they’re pretty complicated so the info helps a lot.
I would love to jump in... But I am waiting on weavers. And they seem to be dragging their heels on getting them done. Brother is already playing dweg.
