Such a great clip, I keep saying on Genesis last tour If Phil had the strength to stand he could have sounded better. It gives more power to the voice. Phil was rocking a nice pullover that night to, I wonder if he has a membership at Tiburon Naples😂
Phil's drumming has been an influence on me for several years. His songwriting has also inspired me at times, even though most of it was too commercial for me to get into. Genesis has been a staple of my life for over 35 years. It's sad to see peppy ole' Phil in this condition, almost painful to watch. BUT they are still doing it for the hundreds of thousands of fans that adore them. More power to you, Phil and the rest of the guys. Thank you for being a huge part of my life.
I admire Genesis but this honestly sounds like a big mistake. Phil was great in his heyday, but this is frankly really difficult to listen to. He just cannot sing this anymore. Unfortunate but true. I don't get why they didn't consider someone else. Yes he is legendary, but this does nobody any favours.
I saw the show and I agree this is not good... not as bad as when I first saw a clip from a September show. Having said that going into the show I thought Phil would struggle more with the faster paced tunes but it was the opposite. Yes the songs were in lower keys but tunes like Domino and Home by the Sea sounded very good and the light show was simple amazing. I think had they done the Lamb straight it would have sounded far better. What I find interesting is they sat in a room, rehearsed this, heard it back and said ok let's go with it... I still enjoyed it though it was great when the crowd sung out "On Broadway with Phil"... always love me some Lamb Lies Down!
