Hi, I'm Chris! Since Chris is such a common name, many people call me Tarroza. I love creating specifically through video and music. I worked in television as a professional video editor for 10+ years and now I make videos about music production, video editing, and being creative. I spent a lifetime creating for others and this channel is about creating for myself while teaching what I've learned to the world.

RU-vid is a new journey for me so follow along and see where this journey goes!

I don't know man I think this is often used (at least I do) to refer to "good production", when you know a video has a lot of time behind due to how seamlesly everything integrates or how engaging the video itself is
@chris_tarroza
@chris_tarroza 8 дней назад
You might be referring to "production value" which can include good editing but it's about the overall production itself. Usually it just means a lot of time and/or money went into it

I don't have any audio interface so, I will definitely buy 4 generations, but if I've already had 3th I would not do the upgrade, probably would wait for a 5th generation

It didn’t work for me and I dod t like that you have to add it to each session in Abelton. Get ASIO OBS. I can open Abelton, play during my live stream and record if I want. Easy.

There's another major reason to choose Scarlett's 3rd gen over the 4th (especially if you rely on the headphone for accurate mixing). In a nutshell, Focusrite compromised the headphone jack impedance (going from low to high) in favor of better fidelity. The result is the 4th gen headphone signal can be way off, depending on the headphones you use! For details check out Julian Krause's excellent review of the 4th Gen Scarlett Solo. BTW, you can still get the 3rd gen Scarlett units - Brand new (as of this writing) on Reverb.

Hi I am buying first audio interface. Should i buy 3rd gen or 4rth (which is most costly)? Purpose: live streaming and recording concerts and lections to zoom / RU-vid, band (drums, keyboard, gitars), church. Source of sound: mixing console, stereo pair (jack jack).

As someone with the inverse experience (more exposure and play time on piano from an early age) I've definitely concluded that playing guitar helps me be a better piano player, but playing piano doesn't make me a better guitar player. Guitar is definitely the more rewarding instrument because it's a struggle. It's not that piano isn't challenging, it's that guitar is its own kind of challenge. It's much more physically demanding, requiring a lot of dexterity and precision in the fingers that isn't necessary for piano. Guitar demands strong bilateral coordination, a bit like the "pat your head and rub a circle your stomach" trick that isn't easy to do. That sort of motor control where your hands are performing different actions isn't part of the piano experience because both hands just hit keys and the keys just make the correct sound 100% of the time, whereas on guitar, it's not making the right sound at all if your fingers are even slightly off. The expensive mechanisms inside the piano take care of the physically challenging task to make the instrument sound precise and predictable. That all becomes your responsibility on guitar, and it's not easy.

one slight caveat to your "piano" is always in tune.. my relative went from violin to piano.. (when he was much older).. you struggle with finger strength.. I have one of my children in piano lessons right now.. shes quite young and one of the main thing beyond "playing" songs.. is to get them to strengthen the fingers... to play ie. trills.. piano requires alot more two handed coordination because either the right or left has to have correct timing.. I myself went from piano to violin.. at that point.. theory was a breeze.. all i needed to do is learn to press on the fingerboard... bowing requires proper technique.. so essentially.. I had to "learn" to play the instrument.. but never needed to really "learn" the music pieces as I played in a orchestra..

Best way to be good at guitar: play piano and study harmony.

I learned piano first and can translate a lot to guitar. Scales, chords, triads, inversions, arpeggios, modes... it's all layed on the piano but is much more obscure on guitar.

I’m currently using the 3rd gen Scarlett solo. I’m curious if I should upgrade. I have been looking at the clarett+ 4pre. Basically looking for th best raw guitar and bass di sounds and best raw vocal sounds. Does anyone have any advice? Should I save the $700 or jump in?

I've only played guitar for couple of years after learning as an adult. Then I got stuck because I don't know enough to improvise or be very creative. Learning and memorising songs from tab only gets you so far so I started studying music theory and thought it might be helpful to buy a keyboard. After just one day playing a keyboard I'm frustrated I didn't start earlier. It's so much easier to translate theory to practice on a keyboard and start playing reading notation. Also, if you buy an electric guitar you will spend thousands on effects modellers, pedals, different guitars, amplifiers, speaker cabs etc chasing some mythical perfect tone or perfect playing guitar that doesnt exist. Its just part of the experience.

I know no one who owns five piano's. But I know many having more guitars than that. Not to mention amps and pedals the price of a single piano.
@emiliocurbelo8891
@emiliocurbelo8891 Месяц назад
This! Besides piano being better for theory, guitar - and very specially electric guitar - is just a neverending gear & tone chasing. Over many years you end up spending almost the same as if you were playing piano from day 1

Yes Switch, PS4, 360, PS3, 3DS, Vita, Wii U. These consoles are not that old but have been modded. Pretty much every console has a mod of some sort, some mods improve audio and video quality like with the Digital HDMI and RGB video mods for retro consoles, some are mod chips and some are for region unlocking your console. Others are Software based mods, jailbreaking, custom firmware no soldering necessary. It's not as popular today since many people like to play online and use online services but some people like to have a second console as a jailbroken unit like the Switch and the PS4.

It wasn't recognized when I rescanned the VST folder. Moved the dll file directly to the folder and even like that it won't work. Deactivated ASIO and OBS recognizes my Ableton audio, but i get latency on my midi device. 🙁

Music theory is easier on the piano, but you can learn it just fine on the guitar. You will need to learn the notes on the fretboard and your intervals. As far as finding the notes its just something you have to practice. I know the nires with ease But after you've done that theory is easy to work with. You should learn what you want first. But any musician will find great value in learning even the tiniest bit of piano.

I am trying to live stream acoustic drum covers. The pre-recording backing track is in the ableton session, and the drumset audio is coming from external drum mics from my audio interface. I want to stream the Ableton session audio into OBS, and then stream the OBS audio to Instagram Live. IS IT POSSIBLE?

The moment you need to transpose a scale on the piano though, it's a nightmare. Guitar you just move your hand around or use one of a few different shapes, but piano it's a different shape for every root of every scale.
@chris_tarroza
@chris_tarroza 3 месяца назад
This is true. It's easier to transpose in guitar, especially with a capo. The one thing about knowing just the shapes means you don't actually know what notes you're playing
@communityband1
@communityband1 Месяц назад
Take the little bit of time it takes to learn to transpose and you will have a tool that works for all instruments, including guitar. It will also help you play by ear and compose. Digital pianos with convincing sound samples have their own cheat code - a transpose button. But learning to play in different keys by learning the notes that make them up is one of the fastest paths to increasing your music skill level multiple times over. When I learned guitar, I didn't have to look up any chords. I knew the notes they contained, so I could figure out different ways to play them on guitar. You memorize a tiny bit in the beginning to enable much less memorization going forward. Guitar holds people back by convincing them music theory is harder than it is.

Well thanks. Okay, this is the easy part but unfortunately, you have not discussed the most important thing the video, the audio and the output configuration part which is causing the most issues. encoders and so on. What encoder to use what format etc in order to get the best audio quality. For instance, I can never get the audio right. It sounds lagging and crackling. I have just wasted 2 hours of screen recording and it is totally useless because of the aduio is completely f'd.Could you share your audio settings and explain things regarding this matter?
