Hi Stella, I'm just playing TR1 remastered after over 20 years of not playing any TR games. I never knew about this secret area. Unfortunately, no matter how fast I do these jumps, I get to the final platform just as the door closes. I have tried dozens of times but with the same results. I am using my keyboard for the controls. Does using a keyboard slow you down? Any tips to go faster to get thru the door before it closes would be appreciated. Thanks so much for any help!
Gonna mention that the transition at 6:00 was why I searched for this video, my character phases through the thin wood and I had to search it up to make sure I wasn't tripping.
@benjaminsisko4519 Hold the jump button while she's in the air and pray hard. A lot of jumps in this game are just hit or miss. The best you can do is try repeatedly and hope the game engine catches your intentions and allows it to happen. Totally frustrating, I know, but you'll get it.

I don't see how in Hell you're managing those jumps. They weren't hard at all on keyboard, but putting the game on PS5 effectively broke the movement system for me. Tank controls really screw with things, but it's the only of the 2 options that even allows for jumping or stepping backwards. Well modern controls do, but only one step with the right foot at a time. So I'm guessing you're on PC and using a keyboard? Nope, maybe not. I just realized switching to tank controls when necessary is the way to go. But sweet lord is this sooo Mickey Mouse.
@tedmiller1376 Yes, PC with keyboard here. I've never been able to get the hang of the controller with the classic games. These are basically standing forward jumps and side flips. Nothing fancy. It's all about the starting position.
@@stellalune I got the ps5 version on impulse. PC would have been much better. I want to thank you, once again (as I do every decade or so) for sticking with these walkthroughs. Whenever I need it, I just search Tombraider whatever along with stella, and I get the best TR guides to be had. Great stuff, Stella. Thanks.
@@stellalune Btw, the tank controls got me through. I just hate having to switch to an otherwise inferior mode that drove me nuts until I changed it after the first four levels.
@tedmiller1376 I feel you. I never played on console, but when the remasters came out, I tried both modern controls and classic with controller, and they both felt super awkward and messed up to me. So I went back to keyboard, which feels comfortable to me after decades of building muscle memory. Fortunately, we have many options for many players.
stella!!! you're a legend. i was using your walkthroughs when i first played this as a sixth grader back in 1998!! i finally beat it for the first time on PSX tonight. extra hard that way, the crystals mean you can't save-scum your way through it like on PC. the last two levels were particularly bad but i'm so stoked i beat it again.
i never finished tomb raider 3 cuz it was just too damn hard. so it's a goal. i may invest in one of those "interact" devices and, worst case scenario, beat it with savegame files.
Thank you so much. I forgot the two pickups right outside the door before the bridge and after I got the last secret I needed those two pickups and I jumped over and thought I was going to have to reset the level
this boss actually pissed me off.. he gives you absolutely no time to adjust yourself to start dodging before he shoots his lazers again. i only had the pistols, mp5, and rocket launcher, so i found the pistols to be the easiest (i couldnt figure out the consistency of his s so i would waste my rockets all the time).
I always use the tank controls when playing the remastered games because I'm so used to them from playing them years ago BUT I was struggling so much getting the jump back on tank so I switched to modern and got it first try! It really is much easier!

@@stellalune Yeah I'm hopeless with modern controls too. I ended up setting up the jump like in this video using tank controls and saved. After trying multiple times that way, I swapped to modern and got it right away. Then instantly swapped back haha.

I turned right at the fork with the atv after opening the 1st door. parked in front if the big two-door gate and there's nowhere to go now!? wtf none of the videos of this level show anything helpful from this point!

I thought you was suppose to jump from the piece of wood hanging to the one you can climb up… I didn’t know you were suppose to jump on the bar and walk over then jump to the climbing thing!!!!
