Beat Motel Zine Music Podcast started as an award-winning print zine sometime around 2004, and this podcast continues that trajectory with attitude, enthusiasm and curiosity. Tune in, turn up & kick back!
We dig into the alternative music we live for. Join us for deep dives, on-the-spot live reviews and laughs. This is not about the world of pop, this is an alt music podcast with a punk rock zine attitude. Beat Motel is about the fringes of the musical world, and we’re going to pull at those threads until it unravels.

Me personally I haven’t liked anything from black midi nearly as much as I liked Schlagenheim. It’s just so much more raw and it’s not taking itself too seriously.
Hey guys, loving the pod so far, I think you guys should check out the callous daoboys latest ep, they're an interesting example of blending such abrasive styles of music with everything under the sun from salsa to hyperpop
calling the whole band a “parody” because they put funny moments in their clips is the same as calling america a country of clowns, because there are obese people there 💀💀💀💀💀
Don’t knock Greta van Fleet them until you have actually heard them or seen them live they are very good and I’m also a Led Zeppelin fan. I watched an interview with Robert Plant and he said they’re good and he felt complemented by the similarities. Every group are inspired by other groups.
Yeah, that Bros doc was amazing. Great pod btw, glad I've found something new to listen to. 😀 I think I've watched all of these other than the Refused doc, I'll have to check that out.
Mr. Bungle is refreshingly memorizing like a serial killers creepy sound track while hacking people up at a circus. At least the first record more so than the others and they are all great as well. I love when I put it on and people are like "Yuck what the hell is that noise" as I crank it up and watch brain juice drip out there ears. It's that good....
That's a good summary of the debut, that and California seem like more focused albums, but Disco Volante has always been my favourite, partly because it sounds like a band that don't know or care whether anyone is listening to them, it just sounds like total creative freedom.
I never tire of saying this but The Doors were the best American band of the 1960s, and are very underrated now. I saw them at the Isle of Wight festival and it was probably the best moment I ever had in my teens. And I saw them a few years later without Jim, and they were lost. They could play brilliantly but had no heart.
I can't imagine what that must've been like to witness them live, The Doors are like this mythical entity to me. I guess in terms of public appreciation, they will hopefully come around again, for future generations to appreciate their genius.
Say what you want, SANDINISTA may be overblown (triple album, give me a break), but it is a pretty bold piece of work. They were not afraid to go to places where no punk band was before
Musical genius The Doors transformed music not just culture but the future of music the ripple created is still visible today so is the soul of The Doors Btw LA Woman was one of their best
god bless my feed- you're a lovely man to happen upon. i will say that it's massively surprising to know you've never come across, or maybe fallen prey to, soundgarden- superunknown might be my perfect album. keep doing what you're doing big fella
To call Iron Maiden wildy overrated is insane. By far one of the best bands of our lifetime and Bruce Dickinson is one of the best humans to ever exist
Lmmfgdao yo also 7th son is NOT the Egyptian cover That's powerslave An album about how nonmatter what your status we all die the same So youneither enjoy TWO of there albums or your full of shit 😂😂
