Creativity, journals, magic & wonder Hi, I'm Luna Howell, a.k.a Sundari. I'm a creative living in the Portuguese countryside. I'm delighted to share videos about my planners, writing practice, and more. Thank you for visiting! I hope you have a magical day ♡
Hi Selma, that's an interesting point. I hadn't really considered it. How long have you had yours? They are made from waxed canvas so I imagine that might be the reason for the sensation you mentioned. I have found that the wax does eventually wear off.
I used the Weeks for a few years, then switched over to the A6 for the last couple years. I start off great and then by mid year, start slacking off. I feel like it’s just an awkward size. This year I procrastinated so much that it’s March and I haven’t even decided on a planner yet, so now considering an April start. Was also considering a travelers notebook, but I want the TR paper. So the Cousin is the two book option? I didn’t know it had a weekly section, that’s a great selling point for me, it’s what I like about the Weeks. But I don’t like the two book thing, I’d rather it was all one book. I supported myself as an artist, in local galleries and also stores in my area. I live where there is a big preserve/wilderness area, and found a sort of gift and craft type store where the owner only sold things made by local artisans. Everything from honey to pottery to art to furniture. It helped that I painted local wildlife and landmarks, and she sold a lot of paintings for me. On commission, of course.
Hello! Have you found the right planner? Cousin is just the name for the A5. The regular Cousin comes in one book while the Cousin Avec, the one I have, comes in a two-book version. One thing to be aware is that the TR has changed a bit this year. It was nice to read about how you've supported yourself as an artist!
@@geslinam9703 I'm glad you're enjoying the weekly and monthly spreads! I've been struggling with filling the daily pages this year myself, but I'm making peace with it :)
I don't use a Hobo. I'm a one planner desk-sized 7-hole ring planner gal, but my printable inserts are very similar to the Hobo pages. Thank you for the inspiration!
Love it. ii made a water color travel palette out of a stay wet 36-well lipstick box on a mazon, chopped up a bit of each, about 1/5th of each stick, & added distilled water. 3 weeks later most are melted but some are chunky. By adding water before use or as ii start, along w/3 water brushes, mixing is easy. The gouache type colors layer with many other media, but ii had to remember these pigments are wax based & microns do not work well on top, so they go down first, & posca markers work perfectly as a top layer over neo 2's. Have an amazing trip.
Wow, how wonderful! Thank you for sharing this as it might be helpful for other people as well! It's good to know that the posca markers work well over the neocolor 2s. When I sharpen mine, I place the shavings on a ceramic palette and add some water to turn them into paint.
Oh, yes! The gold ones are Escoda Reserva. They come in a variety of sizes. The big one I showed was a size 10 and the smallest one is a size 2. In my roll I also have a couple of travel brushes from Rosemary and Co (the silver ones) and they're fantastic as well. Hope this helps 😊 @@oneTokyogirl
It sounds like you've found something that works for you, and that's the most important ❤️ Is there a particular system that you would like to recommend to anyone reading these comments? In my case, I find that I really enjoy writing with my fountain pens so I don't mind some repetition. I also prefer having everything bound in one book rather than having a bunch of loose pages.
Oh I love all of this! Both of your landscapes are beautiful, each with it's own feeling - first being soft and romantic while the second has more of a playful energy. ♥ Thank you for sharing!
Ooh, wonderful! Feel free to let me know how you get on with the cousin (sounds like I'm talking about a real person 😂). I'm tempted to try a hon myself, maybe next year? The hon covers are so pretty 😍
Im still new to hobos, I bought an A5 cousin for next year. Your daily layouts in both books are nice. I also bought 3x weeks as Im still deciding which ones I will use next year. Thanks for sharing.
Wow i was not expecting the palette to be that expensive 😅🙈But i really like your setup. I carry mine everywhere in my purse. A little wooden pallette box with wc. Fineliners that are waterproof, 1 uni ball signo pen for white details. A couple of waterbrushes. A kneeded eraser & a mech.pencil. sometimes i pick also a few stabilo woodies bc they are very sturdy & watersoluble. Oh yeah & some clamps & a paper tisue. Friends & family think I´m Mary Poppins the way everything fits in my little handbag 😅
Yeah, it's definitely a once in a lifetime purchase. Recently, I've also been using my $10 gouache travel palette a lot, so no need for something super fancy 😆 Thank you for sharing what's in your kit! Sounds like a great one. The Stabilo woodies have been showing up a lot on my instagram feed lately so they've piqued my curiosity. Aww, I love the Mary Poppins analogy 💖
This looks great. I’d be interested in seeing what happens to the pages ( hopefully nothing!) after the book is closed for a while. I hope they don’t stick together.
Interesting... not heard of this before! Looks like it'd be pretty useful for mixed media work! You must have timed it just right to order as it's out of stock at Jacksons again! 😆 Sorry our Scottish weather has been so variable - after a gloriously sunny June... July and Aug haven't been nearly so nice.
Yes, I think it's a good product to be aware of. I'll keep exploring the uses of the wax too. The timing was hilarious 😄 luckily, it already seems to be back in stock this week. Thank you, Tara 💕
Have you tried Prismacolors? They are softer and the colors are rich and saturated. I have not tried the Luminance but I am so inspired by your palette…
Thank you, that's great to know! Years ago I used Prismacolor's Verithin line, which I really enjoyed for detailed work. I'd be happy to try more of their pencils, but right now I'm just so in love with the Luminance 😊
This roll sounds like a nice one to save up for. But I seem to be an art bag collector! Seriously, the roll seems great, and the shop has some other lovely bags to save up for. Lovely looking and durable.
It really is! I appreciate how well made it is and the canvas is extremely durable, so I hope to keep enjoying this roll for many years to come. If you do end up getting one of their pieces, feel free to let me know how you like it! It sounds like you already have some art bags. Do you have a current favorite? ❤️
@@lunahowell I have the both Etchr bags, an Art Toolkit set, Darsie Beck’s field easel bag, and many book bags and other totes. The thing is I don’t do as much art work outside as I like. 😅 The art “bag” I use the most is the large and medium sized Sketch Wallets; I can toss my well-used leather case into by bag and sketch in a 3.5”x5.5” sketchbook or switch to the square medium one. One or two pens and pencils work well for that size, great for quick sketches.
My palette is from the *Little Brass Box Company* www.littlebrassbox.com/index.html but unfortunately I think they've stopped making this model 😢 However, there are other companies making similar palettes. If I were in the market for a little brass palette, I would probably go for this one www.lapetitepalette.com/slim.html from *La Petite Palette* By the way, my palette is around 7.5 x 6 x 1.8 cm. I hope this helps! I'll go ahead and update the description with this info ✨
i love your kit, partly because i use practically all the same supplies. especially the watercolours and those multi-coloured pencils have been my obsession lately. i just repurchased neocolor II last week, i had them in 2013 and never really ended up vibing with them and had given them away. otherwise, i love watercolours, coloured pencils and oil pastels on top, for some reason... i might end up saving up for a sendak roll, maybe just the mini because boy are they expensive, but that little palette of yours has just stollen my heart! i have way too many palettes, but... i guess i'm gonna need to save up for that one as well. ☺
Thank you! I'm so happy to hear from someone who uses the same supplies 😊 I hope you like the Neocolor II better this time around. I've started enjoying them a lot more since I started doing mixed media work. Peg and Awl does have annual sales, so those are the best times to get one of their artist rolls, unless you can find one used 💕
