“Where the veterans dream of the fight Fast asleep at the traffic light And the children solemnly wait for the ice cream vendor…” What sheer brilliant poetry👏👏👏
There's a great bit that comes later where three ladies walk out, and Jack Benny cleans his glasses for a good look... by holding his glasses up, saying "Gropff" at the lenses, and wiping them off. XD
Thank the universe that we have a deity who has a sense of humor even if sometimes that humor is rather dark ✅; you know "...saw that it was good.." then created evil, sadness & pain _ probably just to 'balance things out' - what a punchline, right !?!
Wow!! Hahahaha. This man had a terrific character!!! Rivals any comic of his time and Groucho was shadowed by Mr. Hall’s unique comedic style…. What an icon and on just one show…. Ever!
My favorite Mel Blanc moment: Jack and Don Wilson are talking about Don being late for the TV show because his car broke down and he had to take a taxi. Then Mel enters the stage as the taxi driver and hands Don the briefcase Don left behind in the taxi. Mel recognizes Jack because they went to the same high school, but Jack doesn't remember him. Mel says by way of reminder that he, Mel, was voted Most Likely To Succeed by the high school class and his success is evident because he owns his own taxi. Then Mel says to Jack in a condescending way, "What are YOU doing now, Jack?" and Jack replies, "I'm the voice of Bugs Bunny!" All 3 men broke up laughing. Then Mel says, "So you gave up that lousy fiddle?" Again all 3 men broke up. Was this scripted or improvised? Either way I think it's the funniest Benny--Blanc moment I've ever seen.
