This is so much better than all the AI-generated summaries and audiobooks. It's great to hear a real human voice, with proper intonations and emphasis, and a whole lot of thought put into the presentation. Thanks so much for all the hard work! It's so helpful.

Hello! My name is Amanda - I will be co-hosting a class this upcoming weekend on validation at an eating treatment facility in Seattle WA. This book changed my life a about a year ago when I ran across it by chance and I’ve been raving about it since then. I would love any extra knowledge around this that you have if you are still willing to share the in depth video.

This video is very interesting and most importantly it finds a way to make use of personality tests in order to understand as best as one can what one desires to be like, but it presents issues in the way it uses mbti and understands typology, so hopefully this feedback will be useful. If one wishes to use a test in order to make the best version of oneself the most useful ones ( for my understanding ) would be the “big five” test or others that measure a persons personality based on behaviors, and not on typology, such as mbti or the socionics test. This is because, tests that measure behavior can be more easily applied through the labels they present, if you want to improve openness to experience, you can understand were you find yourself better, if you want to be more agreeable or less agreeable, the test can help you identify it, but with mbti it is not as simple, because the letters in mbti are meant to represent cognitive functions. The extroverted cognitive functions are as follows: Extroverted Feeling (or Fe), Extroverted Thinking (or Te), Extroverted Intuition (or Ne) and Extroverted sensing (Se). Despite what the personality test might tell you (the test is not very reliable as to what mbti is to be honest) having an E at the start of your type does not mean you are as what is commonly considered an extrovert, all it means is you have one of the functions mentioned above as your dominant function (each type has 4 main functions, 2 extroverted and 2 introverted, for instance the enfj uses Fe, Ni, Se and Ti, in that order) extroverts by the common definition tend to also use one of the extroverted functions above as their preferred one but this does not an extrovert make, it only explains the most common preferences of an individual. So let’s look at the main cognitive functions of an enfj vs intj: Enfj: Fe Ni Se Ti Intj: Ni Te Fi Se Despite the fact that they just look like letters, each cognitive function explains different common behaviors of a person, Fe is being aware of the feelings of an environment rather than explicitly ones own, this is the main cognitive function of an enfj, but an intj does not have it, this doesn’t mean they do not have filter or empathy but rather tend to prefer to look at their own first Fi, or most likely use Te, which is a function that tries to look at an environment to make it more efficient and useful rather than making it more emotionally available like Fe (not that they can’t practice, do or even be really good at doing otherwise, cognitive functions are just the preferences of a person). Through this comparison we can understand that they have some similarities (they both use introverted intuition, the organization of abstract ideas into patterns) but there main cognitive functions are inherently different. Now, I actually agree that through our environment and through practice we can develop and further understand our functions (in fact that is supposed to be the whole point of mbti, to help us understand our functions, our habits and weaknesses and making us aware of the functions we need to improve upon, even if the test does not say so because the test does not explain cognitive functions and many questions are vague, misleading or simply has nothing to do with the actual contents of the cognitive functions and instead focuses on getting letters) but to say we can change our personality like we can change a diet is missing the point of typology and mbti, which is why I would recommend using other test to get the result the video attempts to demonstrate. So basically, the video presents a great idea to understand ones goals best, but it doesn’t bother to get to deep in the in and outs of typology, which is fine, but could lead to misinformation. Anyways have a nice day

Good insights here 👍🏼 Taking a different type of personality test (The Big 5) could certainly prove useful! One of the big reasons I opted to use the 16 personalities test is because the test website has many great details & strategies built into the results, and the terms may feel more familiar to the average person. Your suggestion could prove helpful if someone would like to do a little more of the research & analysis themselves. Thanks for sharing this, very informative!

_We can't change our personality, we are born with and it will never change, but we can improve by discovery the parts of ourselves (8 cognitives functions, 4 sides of the mind, neurological/psychological conditions) It's how our brain is wired, we can't change it. Accept your self, your weaknesses, if you are an INTJ, you will always be bad with your blindspot function Fe Extraverted feeling (to socialize, understand social situations, and express feelings) It's not good at all for the brain and mind, to wanting to become a personality you are not, and it's impossible, it detach you from the true and authentic self. Remember who you are (mainly your first 2 cognitives functions). The goal in life is to become your true self, not to detach you from your true self. Sorry, to tell this, but this video will not help people at all but the reverse. This test is just the first step, and can be inaccurate, the best is to learn the 8 cognitives functions. Self discovery is a long process of understanding, and accepting our true self is painful and also a relief.

I disagree, we absolutely can change our personality. Our personality is largely a composition of the unconscious habits we've picked up through our environmental upbringing. During our adolescences, we observed, implemented, and the adapted the social habits that reflected the people around us, especially our parents. That's also why the advice "you become the average of your 5 closest friends" is so commonly given. We are an adapting species, we learn and conform to reflect the nature of the people around us, for better or worse. But you can change your nature by being present enough to change your habits & build new skills. I'm living proof. I personally went from an INTJ to an ENFJ in a matter of 3 months. If you believe you can change, you will be right. If you don't believe you can change, you will also be right. Yes we have genetic dispositions, but those are often not the largest part of our personality. On the higher end of scientific research, 50-60% our personalities have been estimated to be genetic, on the lower end, only 20-30%. What this means is that regardless which studies are most accurate, anywhere from 40-80% of our personalities are changeable. That is absolutely enough to wiggle room to become whoever you want to be deep down, if you so choose and if it's important to you.

@@AchieversWorkshop If you change your personality (how you are wired), that's means you change your strengths, your weaknesses, what make you happy and what stress you, and your preferences. Our mind is flexible, but we just can switch sometimes between the different sides of our personality type. Ego INTJ, Subconscious ESFP, unconscious ENTP, super ego ISFJ. _If really you have changed, that's means what immobilize and stress you before : express your emotions, not always understand social rules, not be at ease in social situations, people who share Fe informations take all your energy (Fe blindspot INTJ). _And now Fe is now your main goal in life : you love be with people everyday, every time, they don't stress you, they give you energy and make you happy. And you find extremely difficult to have routine, you struggle to wash dishes. _From : prefer avoid people (INTJ) to love being with people (ENFJ) ? That's doesn't make sense. _From : be angry at things (IJ) to being angry at people (EJ) ? It's doesn't make sense neither. I just think (It happen to most of people when they take the test), you got the wrong type at a moment. It's common people see them upside down, or see them according to their introvert functions. Be sure of our type and know ourselves take a lot of time. Generally the first result we get is the good. It's possible you got ENFJ, because you see yourself Ni-Fi, and possible you are more extroverted, due to the enneagram, and possibly be an extrovert INTJ.

I could immediately tell the points expressed in this video were influenced by “The 7 habits of highly effective people”. These principles are the foundation for being a good man. If you work towards acquiring these traits, you will undoubtedly be respected by and valuable to the people you encounter.

Hi Mark. So to me, there's a 3 step process in how we live our day to day lives. That process is Be > Do > Have. Let's break it down. If you BEcome the type of person you want to be, you will DO the things you want to do, and HAVE the outcomes you want. Many people try to skip "Be", which is character development, and go directly to "Do", which is essentially your personality, your actions, and your behaviors. Focusing on your personality first will not lead to lasting changes, because to make lasting changes, you first have to focus on changing your values. To change your values, it's starts with character development. It's about setting and prioritizing values to you that are important enough to you to drive change. If you greatly value being a pleasant person, you will develop a personality that will help you build better relationships. If you greatly value physical fitness, you will take the actions that allow you become more fit. But it has to start with first changing your values, the roots of your character, or it won't lead to lasting change in your personality, behaviors, and actions.
@AchieversWorkshop
@AchieversWorkshop 3 года назад
In short, the roots of your characters are what you value most. And the leaves of your personality are the actions and behaviors you take based off your values.
