This may sound sooo elementary, but if you are rolling forward you are pivoting on the ball of your foot aaand if you are rolling backward you are pivoting with your heel. Correct???? Im trying to get these pivots down and for some reason i get all screwed up on what im doing. The videonwas great by the way!!
woaww, so far the best review video, that I have watched, based on real experiences. There are some videos out there , they show unpacked wheels in 2 mins as a “review” video, ridiculous. Thank you so much, now I know what to buy 🎉
@@arcgibby6300 This event happens every year. This year it is Oct 31 to Nov 3. Announcements will be on the @whereskatersrule Instagram page. There’s another skate party there Dec 13-14 called @skatemagicweekend.smw - there are a few others as well that happen earlier in the year. I don’t know about weekly sessions, but the 2-4 day events that happen maybe 4 or so times a year always look like what’s in this video.
Thank you! This is ages ago and I’ve long since retired those boots! I’m not sure why you’d say that about where I am on the floor- do you see all the different things going on on this floor? I’m not sure if you’ve skated at this rink or not but what I was doing was very much within the culture of this rink. Also they don’t have a typical “middle” bc it’s mostly carpeting with benches. The middle areas that are available are used for doing tight edges, spins, group routines, etc. There is nowhere except the outer lanes to work on strings of pivot-centric footwork in a straight line- this is very normal at this rink.
@@tycotoys Ah. Got you! This is a late night adults only session and typically there are no rollerblades. The is the United Skates in Seaford, New York (Long Island) which has a long history of adult skating of a specific regional style. All rinks flow very differently. You can see my more recent videos on my instagram, some of which may show how our rinks flow here (@rollingintune)
Hi! I found your video in a reddit thread and hopped on over here for one quick question. I am a rollerdancer. My teacher/mentor is Richard Humphrey. We mostly skate outdoors and, honestly, for all my outdoor and indoor skate needs (always on smooth surfaces) the Rollerbones Bee One Legend Wheels (57mm 98a) have been a DREAM! I drill every day at home too. We recently moved and in our new place the floors are CRAZY slippery. The 88a Radar Crush wheels are perfect, except for one thing... I hate switching over from them to my Rollerbones when in class and then back to the Radar Crush at home, because the wheels, size aside, feel so different are far as weight distribution etc and maneuverability when it comes to rollerdancing. I still highly prefer the Rollerbones and my dream would be Rollerbones wheels at 57mm 88a durometer for my home floors. However, they don't make them that soft and that size. SO.... all my googling made me consider the Sonar Zen (though 85a might be a tad too soft for my floors cause I also have the Radar Crush 84a wheels and they are too soft and bouncy for me). They are bigger than I'd like but I'd consider shaving them down to 57mm if so. How do you find the durometer to be/feel? And as far as wheel shape/feel/edges for dancing? Any thoughts you. might have on them would be super helpful! Thank you!
I’d highly recommend getting fitted or at least downloading the sizing chart off Riedell’s website. I wear a women’s 8 in shoes but a size 6 in men’s Riedells.
Jac, you have the skater soul in your style, I can see it coming from old man Burt. Mr. headphone wearing himself, but nevertheless, James Brown is my choice of music popa ,Don't take no mess. Get up on the good foot and soul power
Go ahead Jac you are so smooth, and a joy to watch, you have tapped into the skaters frequencies of perfection, coming from old man Burt ,.I see and know the Art of skating and you definitely have it😊❤.
Lovely!! Thank you!! One other small distinction between a “snap” and a “3 turn” is that there’s a slight push into the turn and pull out of the turn that creates the 3 shape the turn is named for. Keep the good info coming!!
Thank you! 🙏 And yes, exactly! You can even see in this vid how on some of the turns I do, the edges are deeper and you can follow the “3” I’m tracing on the floor with each foot flip. Hard to tell in this vid, but I’m more apt to do it like a “snap” (and raise heel or toe) when I either lose my momentum or start going in a straight line, as opposed to on an arc across floor.
When I was young, Branch Brook Park rink was an ice skating arena - and it was open air on the sides. In tge winter it woukd be so cold 🥶 for our figure skating practice.
Sure do! :) I’d taken a nearly 20 year break myself.. Got skates again at 39 and started up consistently at age 40. About to be 46 now. DM me on IG! Happy to set up a lesson! @rollingintune 😊
Was recently told that if I like skating to house music that I should check out Branch Brook in NJ. This is my dream! I may have to make the 9 hour drive… aside from following the BB insta, if anyone can recommend other resources to follow along this particular skate scene please let me know!
@@keauntebishop8 hmm… I think you could probably force them in. Any skate bearing should be able to fit any skate wheel, just with hard vanathane wheels it can take a whole lot of force to get the bearing in. I HATE changing bearings in vanathane wheels bc even with a press it takes some serious muscle and my hands are usually aching by the end!
