Thanks Peter very helpful. the problem I have is that I have had 2 switches from Amazon and there is no way that either will fit, can you tell me the brand you used. the 2 I have tried are AKozon Electric Mirror Adjust Switch and Hoypeyfiy Rearview Mirror Control Switch .
I can’t remember the make but I’ve looked online at the Akozon it looks identical to the one I got so should fit ok , they are a bit of a squeeze to get in but should fit, if the pins on the connector are the same it should be fine
My dad ran over a deer a time ago, nothing was broken, but the stupid pedestrian protection system activated. this was about 2k euro and he had to wait months for it. Timing chain failiure will cost about 3 times as much, as it costs them to build the whole car.
To be honest with you, I've had a couple of s t's and a few missed. Ed a couple odd BMW I would stick with the Mercedes all day long. I had lunch to away from BMW. Useless cars in one sense. And stay away OK and S classes Mercedes. The sea classes show always the best cars. Even still today, take great affordable. Efficient, reliable cares. The sea to 315 up to 500 is probably the best choice in the sea class. Anything over that 2 costly spell sleep and end up in Out ofOut of pockets. My C3 100 compressor 2001 still a great cat. Today's has never let me down. I am now looking set a new C3 100 G.
oh. I thought you get get more on these. I am reluctant between the coupe or the 350e hybrid. do you have any insights on how reliable are the hybrids? cheers
Cheers for this Peter spot on video. I must've bought an EU/left hand side replacement switch by mistake as the only way it fitted in was to have it upside down (mirror close at the top rather than the bottom). But I'm not that bothered as it works now! Cheers
Peter, are you saved? The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, got buried and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV). We all have sinned (Romans 3:23 KJV). Believe it and you will go to heaven not hell. Doing good works CAN'T get you to heaven (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV).
Good review Peter, I read somewhere saying that the engine noise on the diesel is quite loud, do you think so? Does it bother you at all? Have you experienced any nasty issues so far? Thanks
Thank for your comment, in the 3 years I had the car the was a joy to drive I had it serviced at Mercedes, on a service plan always a good idea, the diesel engine is excellent smooth with great performance.
How much was the fuel pressure pump if you don’t mind me asking mate ? I’m having the exact same trouble with my 2019 petrol 118i and I don’t want to change the engine after watching your videos on the progress of your car… I subbed to your page good work 👍
Mines also has had the battery warning since 2022 last year winter time should I change my battery as well ? It’s a nerve racking thing to think you could break down anywhere
This seems to be a common thing in these F20’s… I have the exact same car only a 118i petrol 2019 version and my car cranks and doesn’t start and I’m afraid I will be out a lot of money hopefully not though 🤞🙏 I was told mines is the high pressure fuel pump also
Hi Eric thanks for your comment, I’ve no idea is the honest answer, without taking the door card off would be hard to tell, you could try calling your Audi dealer up and give them your reg they might be able to tell you.
Great video and a big Thank you, My X1 has had exactly the same issues, "The discharge warning, Slow to start, then crank no start, and the whining noise from behind !"
I’m not a qualified Mechanic, Depends on the type of engine if you turn an engine over when timing chain failure has happened you may hear rattling if so you risk doing more damage to the engine would be best having a garage check it over
Hi thanks for you comment, I’m not a Machanic but from my understanding if there’s a good service history and the oil has been changed regularly and there’s no rattling it should be good for over 100k, the petrol version is the way to go.
Planning to get one , please I have 3 questions 1. At what point should you get the timing chain done to avoid this situation? 2. How much is the cost of changing the timing in uk 3. How much the total cost of the restoration Thanks
Some good questions, I’m not a qualified Machanic but I’ll answer your questions as best I can, it depends on how the car has been looked after but between 80 to hundred thousand miles is a good guide. The price to change the chain is all about the labour costs so best to shop around, the cost to repair the engine just over £4000 as I said in video but could have been done for less knowing what I have learned in the process, hope this helps
Hi thanks for watching my video , I got my puddle lights from my Audi dealership as I wanted original parts and the price was just as good if not better than what I could find on the internet I think around £90 for the front doors, I didn’t see the need to do the rear doors but that’s just a personal choice.
If you have standard puddle lights fitted to your car then the connector is already in place so it’s just a matter of changing the lens for the one you want
