Many National Parks require a license. Shenandoah, Acadia and GSM all require a state license. Yellowstone makes you get a park fishing permit. There could be others, those are just the one I've dealt with.
I enjoy all the tips you add to each video but I do have a serious question at Lake Merwin I have twice had a no fish caught day and while I at first thought it may have been a problem on my end this last trip confirmed what's going on both days when pulling the boat out at the launch I had a local say hey I only got one all day but then did you notice they raised or lowered the water level yesterday ? so seeing fish on the scope and trying every color combo I carry still no strikes but the fish are clearly there on the fish finder. any answers to this and has it ever happened to you ? Thanks From Hank the Tank
Yeah upper granite lake. Wanted to do a video there last year but the guy who was supposed to meet showed up like 4 hours late so I went to Baker instead
WDFW hatchery management objectives starved killer whales in Puget Sound. I have stopped fishing now painting as my new hobby. I refuse to pay for their junk science put out by the HSRG science hacks. Want changes from WDFW stop paying their license fee to fish.
Only 25% of WDFW's budget actually comes from license sales. Additionally, the primary reason hatchery plants have been reduced is because special interest groups have successfully forced WDFW to reduce hatchery stocks to protect so-called wild fish. Admittedly WDFW should be adopting better hatchery practices such as brood stock programs but adoption of new hatchery programs does in fact cost more $$. Have fun painting!
Lightweight waders are great because they are lightweight but they are not durable. The old rubber waders are hot and heavy, but they can take a beating and last for years. The biggest problem with the rubber is if you don't use it much they can dry rot. Neoprene is another option but not good if it is hot. Drysuits may be an option, but I've never tried them.
I turned my Cabelas waders inside out and filled each leg with water to find the leak and both legs leaked all around where the boot was attached to the nylon upper part. I like the flex seal idea.
What a cool fish!! Have only seen them in photos, there is a whole new level of beauty seeing them on video, and I'm sure in person as well. Thanks for sharing your exploits!
Such cool colors and that dorsal fin is something else! I work in Nunavut, Canada. I haven't gotten out much but certainly looking forward to hooking on one of these! Great video dude, thanks for the tips!!
So cool! I sure hope the grayling program takes off in the up of Michigan! My understanding is they've been working on it for years with little success. Changed to Montana model and now seeing good success
Bucket list. Once I get my Kayak, that is high on the list of destinations. Already spend more time in Montana than I do at home in Oregon thanks to work, would be REALLY nice to get to stop and smell the roses a while instead of barreling through at 70mph and leaving as fast as possible.
Really enjoyed this type of video and content Tyler with the hiking and fishing in such incredibly scenic country. Thank you and look forward to the next one.
If you wanna catch, you have the most chance in 3 Days charters in Aug, Sept and Oct. they usually go to tanner or Cortez bank in these months. They don’t need to look for plagics there. They anchor and the bites are wide open during the day. At night they look for larger BFT schools. If you have jigging tackle you could score +200lbs at night. It happened to me and most of the boats I was in last two years. I skunked enough not to waste my time in “over night” “1.5 days” and 2 days boats. Those are good if the schools move close and settle there.
If your still in town I suggest you head up to red meadows lake for grayling, will provide some spectacular scenery for a video. Upper whitefish lake is on the way for some trout and they are catching 18"+ kokanee in little Bitterroot lake. If you want to partake in something different, thr kokanee snagging season is going on near the falls and up in eureka, mt. Quite a different experience doing the snagging and its more challenging than one would think. Awesome video, always enjoy your content.
I’m from Dandridge TN, at Douglas Lake, and I have been disappointed with poor fishing. Im looking to move soon to specifically find a good place to fish. I’m shocked by how many fish you caught on one trip!
In the late 80s, WDFW planned Grayling in Marshall Lake, North of Newport, WA. At the time, I fished that lake several times weekly. I caught two in one trip and was so stoked. Never caught another. They were both caught trolling a small black ant pattern fly, on a fly rod.
I heard they had a die off there this summer. Glad to see it's still doing well. Bitterroot has been kicking out big kokanee this year as well, I've gotten a couple over 22".
@@406rts3 Dang, the biggest I managed was 17 🤣 It's so hard to track down the 4th year fish because of the mysis shrimp. I have caught salmon on the surface and over 100 feet at the same time 🤣
@@shawnclements14The big ones have mostly come off of the bottom. Occasionally bouncing my dropper weight off the bottom. Downriggers haven't gotten any over 18.
Good stuff, I use shuttlehawks to stack my electric riggers. I tend to kick the speed up to 1.5 for a minute or so to get the hawk down the cable especially if i am running them down 60+ feet. The other thing is that I tend to run spinning rods with the hawks and just loosen the drag to allow them pull the line down.
For the better part of 25 years I didn't think anything besides a Thomas lure worked when trolling for trout😂. 90% of the time I was using gold. Bouyant, Colorado or Fightin' Fish but the Fightin' Fish is still by far my favourite spoon.
Adore the country out there. One of the lakes in ne side of the park. The fish were so veracious, avg 14-16” found a few pushing 20”. I was in heaven. Couldn’t roll cast very far with trees behind. I so wanted a handful of kastmasters. Thx for sharing!
Figure you're the one to ask about the Old Town Pedal Drive's. We are planning on taking em to Baja this spring and fishing the Sea of Cortez. My buddy is looking at the 10'6" Sportsman. He's 180lbs. Do you think the 10'6" is going to be stable for him?
Thank you for this video. We recently got a deck boat and just got it out of the shop. I grew up less than 30 minutes from the Columbia and never really fished it. That is something that I plan on fixing immediately. Haha.
