I remember this coming out and it being really hyped up in the run-up to its debut, I also remember everyone who caught the first episode or two didn’t like it but I stuck through it as best I could. Although it’s not hard to see why it flopped, advertising it as a soap was probably a mistake considering its far too out there even for a standard soap opera. Especially as it seemed more geared towards teens than adults. I remember how the show starts and vaguely how it ends, with (SPOILER ALERT Jane found and one character becoming a robot. And somewhere in there a French girl shows up). It’s just everything in-between that I forgot, so I’m grateful to find your channel so I can go back and see the journey.
I would hardly have thought it possible to start off a soap with such relentlessly unlikeable smug self satisfied boring characters and such ineffectual dialoge but maybe that well sums up how people in Britain were at the beginning of the century.
Heh - I made these! I never kept copies and haven't seen them since I finished working on them 21 years ago. Thanks for uploading :) There was an additional one with Joe McGann in a hairdresser's, I can't seem to find that one.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

It's great to see you are still uploading Night and Day clips, I wish you could fill those gaps between Omnibus 5 and 23, do you have any of those missing episodes still to upload?
Thanks for posting this. It's a shame this episode isn't as good quality as the others. Do you reckon you'll ever be able to get hold of a better quality version?
I loved Night and Day lol andove Kylie theme tune . So ahead of its time. Many soaps now do alot of things like this style wise background music etc I feel
It was a massive shame how this ended on ITV, Ironically the very last episode had some of the sharpest writing in a long time, It's incredible ITV has no comedy. Lesley Joseph could carry a show no problem.
The humour of the reboot is rather like the cast: old, tired, cliched, and dated. Also, when did Garth turn from an intelligent sensible young man into a halfwit?
Yes and the actors bring the characters to life, the set designers create the right ambience, the cameramen capture the action etc. The whole group of professionals involved are what make great TV shows, don't ONLY praise the writing. Also, "writers" doesn't have an apostrophe in the context you used it.
I forgot about it and got back to it.. I wish i had not looked it up again. This is like the worst soap I’ve ever seen. Not even early Brookside or early Hollyoaks was this cringe lol
I don't remember Georgina Walker ever appearing in any other series apart from Night and Day which is a pity as she played the main character that, which as far I am concerned, I always associate the programme with - Jane Harper's trademark was her white knee socks in which she was always seen dressed as in the programme's publicity pictures as published in the TV listings magazines and tabloid supplements at the time. Is she still an actress, I wonder?
