I don't know, I don't believe for a steering rack you have to pull out the engine :) of course there are another ways to remove it. There is a lot of work to do, so that why some mechanics say that
When I pulled mine off to replace the filter mine didn't have a filter it had some other plastic piece where the filter should be..do you know what this could be and why it's been swopped with the filter ?
Thanks for this video. It gives me hope that I can access my blower motor. I'll be honest, I wish the filming had been done with a fixed camera. It was hard to watch and it wasn't always easy to work out what was being worked on. What year model was this? Under the dashpad looks different to my 2003 model.
Yes, re camera, I assumed that was the case. It would have slowed the whole job considerably. I just need enough access to remove the motor cover, there is something touching the fan blades making a clattering noise - like a piece of cardboard rubbing on the spokes of a bike wheel that we did as kids. Thanks for the video and your reply. I’m not looking forward to doing this job.
Well, I have the cover off the blower and the noise in mine is from the RH fan having lost parts of quite a few blades. I'll need to cut plastic to get the unit out without doing all the work you did. Mine's a Vogue so there was a slight difference when removing the screen assembly. There wasn't a second box of electronics behind it that needed to be removed. Now to source a replacement unit. Thank you once again.
i am guessing its not your first time dash removal probabley an expert in your field ,please tell us how you organize all the bolts and parts you take off?
Acourding to my owners manual your using the oil for the petrol model my manual states esso ATF LT 71141 for the diesel model thats the manual out of my 2003 range rover HSE TD6
@@secaraalexandru multumesc frumos!
@@secaraalexandru How many turns can you make in this direction for each side, because the one I have is mechanical and there are 2 and a half turns for each side. Lots of laps for those using an electric steering. Originally it should only do 1 turn and 3/4 of a turn, that is 75% of one more turn. Sorry so many questions. Thanks for helping.
@@valmatos I know about this matter, but many of them are refurbished not quiet the right way. I've built from two steering racks into one, the old and new ones. I've kept the shaft from the old one and I've put it into the new one. Its turns one and half to each side now. Try to find one at dismantling warehouse.
@@secaraalexandru Here where I live, in Brazil, it will be a bit difficult to get it, since originally the Corsas B didn't come with electric steering. I managed to put it on my corsa year 96/97 by importing an electric column. Can you get the rack and pinion for this electric steering box and make an ad for us to negotiate? Which country are you in? And thank you for sharing the information.
Great video, I can't understand why JLR don't do it this way in the workshop manual, they want you to remove the whole front off the car, and remove the dash wiring harness. There is still a lot of work here, but it's more straightforward than the workshop manual, and I would much rather do this than cut holes in the top of the dash. I will be trying this in the coming weeks as my blower is toast. I'll let you know how I get on.
Update, followed the steps in this video and got my new blower in and working, a lot of work but straight forward. Again a great video and I probably wouldn't have tackled this job without watching it.
I haven’t watched the entire video yet but so far it looks like he’s taking the entire dash out. Any tips for me as I am about to tackle this job myself.
