I live in a humid environment where fungal issues are a staple. I'm interested in the Zerotol product. I read that it biodegrades within a day or so. In your experience and expertise, is this food safe? Thank you!
We use a 2 gallon spray bottle, 1.8 oz of zerotol to every 2 gallons. You can do a stronger mix and bump it up to 2 oz if you need to. We are having soil issues at the moment and dealing with lots of pathogen issues in the soil so we bumped it up a little.
Thank you, I saw you guys were having issues with aphids in another one of your videos. I would reccommend looking in to koppert. They sell a variety of beneficials insects that will help manage pest pressure ( aphids, thrips, spider mites etc) if you want to stay away from sprays.
Amerzing ... I have a question ? 5 days - in dark, 13 days - under sunlight ? All together its 17 days of journey .. then wht about 26 days ? Pls let me know it
We date a “harvest date” the micros could last anywhere from 7-14 days depending on how they are handled so that varies quite a bit and would be hard to put a date on 😊
We’ve been growing micros professionally for years and seen a lot of things fail. No one is saying you can’t do it differently, we’ve made it clear this is what works for us and we see consistently perfect crops. You do you of course, our farm has been really successful working through crop failures and finding solutions. You can’t make everyone happy✌🏼
It varies crop to crop and we have a whole formulation of seed weight per crop. You have to figure out what works vest for you in your grow environment.
Depends on where your located. Do your market research. Competition is healthy. Look at ways to build relationships and differentiate your service and product.
@tinyleafmicrogreenfarm I'm in swfl . The opposite side of you guys . I've been looking around and there's like 4 busness already around here. Hopefully it goes fine with me since I'll be starting small with only like 1 or 2 grand
We didn’t post a link for freshwell. The company that sells them is called Aptar. They are out of Georgia, a bit of a difficult company to buy from because they only accept ACH or wire. You have to reach out to their sales team directly.
You say you hand water arugula. Do you measure or do you use a hose? Also, where did you get those spray bottles? I had 1 brand burst open on me 2x with h2o2 in it that was just sitting for a few days unused. Thx and keep up the great work!
We use 2L jugs to hand water and we do it by feeling. We get our spray bottles on amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B07L4Q3MVY?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_ab-ac-bia_nk_11_12_kp1ap0&=&crid=W95ADF8VKDC6&sprefix=garden%2Bspray&th=1
I know that when growing larger crops a compressed medium makes it more difficult for the roots to penetrate through the soil, and lacking those air pockets from a well-aerated medium means less Oxygen through the roots. Do you guys spike the dissolved O2 in your floodwater to compensate, or do you find it isn't an issue with microgreens? Edit: Also curious about the interaction between zerotol and the mycorrhizae, would the zerotol not destroy any colony of the beneficial fungus you have inoculated in your soil mix? I know that hydrogen peroxide inhibits fungal growth but wouldn't likely destroy a colony from single applications, but I feel like zerotol would absolutely eradicate the mycorrhizae. Thanks for your time
Hey there. We have not experienced much rooting issues. our micros root very well in our 10/20 flats. we use more soil in our longer growing crops like red veined sorrel etc. We have not done much research into the effects on Zerotol with Micorhizae but well for sure look into it. thank you for the valid information.
Yes. I’d advise an indoor growing operation. That way you have full control of your growing environment year round regardless of the outdoor temps. Happy growing.
Yes we follow the same Protocol for Chard, Golden Beets and Red Beets. but our seed density for those crops is 30G instead of 35G as the seeds are larger
What a beautiful farm you guys have! Have you considered playing music for the plants? Anything heavy on the violin to start out and you'll see physical responses from the plants. It's been my experience that happy plants both grow and taste better.
Great 🌱Content You might want to try Washing Your Seeds Better to prevent the Mold Problems, or you could be using too much H2 o2.. Are those Yellow or Green Pea Seeds ? You could have a Bad Batch of Seeds if they are getting mushy while germinating. Who do you get your seeds from ? Have you Checked your Water Temp & PH ? I never have any Mold Problems,, and I don’t use any H2 o2 on my Seeds . But I Designed a USDA Certified Problem Solving Proprietary Patentable Hydro Ag Lab Microgreens Farm Pod that Solves a lot of Production Problems that have been attracting a lot of interest from USDA, Big & Small Food Buyers & Distributors, VC Groups and many other who think my Hydro Ag Solutions could Disrupt the Vertical Farming Industry, and turn Microgreens into the Next $MultiBillion$ Packaged Salad Brand. No we do not because there are different GAP requirements for rinsed produce but also microgreens do not handle moisture well so we harvest a dry crop and on our labels we recommend rinsing if the customer chooses to do so. Microgreens do better unwashed and handled with the most care. We do our best keep the product sanitary before packaging and making sure you are wearing the right protective gear during harvest along with the sterile farm environment throughout the grow... they should be clean and good to go on a plate :)
