Hi friends, Dionne here and welcome to my channel. I am not a pro at anything except for trying new things.
Come hang with me as I go on a new journey... tent camping! I'm in my late 50's and have never tent camped. I BEGIN my journey with my two dogs and you!
I like how you insulated the grow bags, very creative, good job! Do you think growing in bags like those would hold the roots from puncturing the grow bags in a few years?
@@onionpeeler2023 hello, thank you for your question. I have had mine in grow bags for two years. I place the insulation around them 2in away from walls of grow bags so air still gets to the grow bag. Have never had a problem. I do take the insulation off in winter being less harsh sun and they don't dry out as fast. Hope this helps.
@@khambrelmathis6101 Hoffnung passed away last year but not from heartworms. He lived a good long happy life and I miss him so much. I am not sure about other beers, the holistic vet told me to use this brand and type so I did and it worked.
@@Scene_MushR00M that's how they breed. In the wild the male rabbit will chase the female and try to convince her to breed, the same as they are doing here. She will not allow him to breed if she doesn't want him and he will not force her. I give them about 10 min to breed and watch close because if the doe doesn't want to breed then a doe has been known to castrate bucks.
Your husband did a wonderful job on those suspended cages. Beautiful. Put plenty of sawdust down and keep adding. Keep chickens under them, scratching it all around. Best compost there is. Good luck!
Check out the Millennial Gardener's channel. He put out a video a while back about lessons learned about growing fruit trees in grow bags. Spoiler alert - He'll never do it again. I experienced the same problem, even with long-growing vegetables and herbs. We have a very long growing season here. Also recommend watching Dr. Purvis' channel - Garden Myths. He put out a good video about grow bags and debunked the "myth" about lower temperatures in grow bags compared to plastic pots. Gary Matsuoka on his Laguna Hills Nursery channel also gave a class where he stated that after a certain size, there was no difference in temperatures. I don't remember what the cut-off was. Both very informative channels, as is yours. Thanks for putting out great videos!
Thanks for an informative video. How large was the plastic pot that root bound your little guava tree? Must've been pretty small. Nice rollers for your grow bags. I only use grow bags for seasonal vegetables. They've only lasted two years (max) down here in south Florida (11A). I can place them along the perimeter of my backyard where I was able to put drip and soaker hoses to timers. Can't do that in the middle of my yard and grow bags dry up too quickly even with saucers under them until the rainy season. Plastic pots have worked much better for me and my fruit trees. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. Let's see, the pots I bought the trees in were 3 gallon plastic they were smaller trees but i was waiting for fall to transplant so in that time they became extremely root bond. I agree with the grow pots drying out, I was having that problem too but the bubble insulation has really put an end to that and the pots are holding up nicely, they still look new. My experience is they last if not touching the ground and quality of pot does matter. My patio is in full sun from sunrise to sunset. I water once every other day to every two days in the summer months. Hope this helps clarify things. Each zone is so very different. In the end we have to find what works for our special situation. Have a great day my friend and happy growing 🌱!!
I will tell my honey what you said, your comment will bring a smile. He will be building one for the dragon fruit tree soon so I will video as he builds it.
You REALLY need to do a how-on the complete build and set up of the trees. They look great and seem very functional. (That’s how Jess from Roots and Refuge channel took off, her showing her trellis build)
Thank you. I love Jess! Such inspiration! I've been primarily videoing to giving folks interested an idea of what's possible in the city and for my records. I appreciate your input and most definitely will make a video that's more descriptive. I'll be planting avocado trees soon and will show step by step what I do. Again, thank you.
I use grow bags for my fruit trees on rolling platforms being we get freezing here 9a, Texas. If you don't have freezing then yes this method would work good.
I use the 15gal grow bags for mango, guava, cherry, loquat, sugar apple, and 25 gal for Meyers lemon and Rio red grapefruit. I'll make a video and send you a link when the storms clears off here.
@@MikeJones-qo7vt I hope it helps clarify. I'll be planting my avocado trees soon and will video step by step so maybe that will really clarify. Good luck! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ac5j-fZRRJA.htmlsi=3iZfckVOe0-Osh8T
We just ordered from KW, while the products look good and pricing reasonable, the customer service is polite but doesn't care. What they advertised and we ordered, was not what they sent us and when we tried to clarify, all they said was: if you don't like it, return it to us, on your own cost and pay 10% restocking. They didn't even try to provide any other options, or offer anything to bridge the gap.
