The brand thing is spot on! I have stopped buying most brand name things because I refuse to pay more for an item than I would in the US. I also don't shop for groceries at Auto Mercado because even some of the local stuff will just be more expensive there. I am not on a really small food budget, but I just don't want to pay more if I don't have to.
