Did you go for the bricklink buildings? I quite like the brickcross train station ive ordered. once it comes around Christmas it may just end up being my favourite lego building...but its going to have to be good to beat 4954, which I think is my favourite...but it varies as ive only just got back into lego again after 15 years, didnt have the room for it, but now I have the time and a smidge of space so im digging out a few old sets that are left and adding to them. I love that lighting set up, not sure I have the dexterity and patience though to try it.
Being an old lad anall, my best un is either 4886, two great builds and the red roof and white walls look great, and it was £20 so i got 3. 4956 a different red roof house that was £25 so I got 2. Or 4954, a beige family home for just £40 that still looks quality now. All from a golden lego house building era 20 years back where they concentrated on a nice looking building that didnt break the bank. Together you have a great little suburb, something that lego no longer really does as their houses dont have backs very often, I hate the open back half a building nasty dolls house thing they doin these days, wish they would stop.
Your favourite is a good one but my favourite still remains to be the Parisian Restaurant with the Family Reunion coming a close second. I don't know where you get your lights from but I think most of them sell Wireless connectors now. They're a game changer when it comes to showing off the interior of the sets. Hope this helps 😊
I think the A-Frame cabin ticks a lot of the same boxes as the Fisherman's shack - same wonky plank aesthetic. Wouldn't fit in a cityscape too easily though!
Get 4lb lump hammer out and knock that wall down, it will give you more space so you have room for some track and trains...wait till you get some track n trains running, that will bring a right cheesy grin to you...theres nowt like trains.
Rotherham? maybe Sheffield? I would put money that you has been to Meadowhall Lego more than once with that accent. And yer right, every street needs a pub or three, do a Cross Keys for me. Have fun lad and keep up tha great work.
wow it looks pretty! The rainbow lights seem a bit excessive in some parts. So how do you connect the lights to a power source, with a battery or directly to outlets? I want to know because those lights look useful for a idea I have, but I have no idea what power source it needs.
This is how it begins😂, this was literally me 6 months ago with an alt build of a friends set with my daughter, now I have like 6 mocs on rebrickable and an entry in BDP series 5 right now😂
@@MrFaulkers thank you lol, it just kind of happen tho that’s what I’m saying, I love every second of it, and can’t believe I wasted so many years NOT realizing I had this love and talent, but it does definitely consume my life lol, it’s a slippery slope, it’s really quite something the power lego has, and how much of a personal experience and connection it gives the end user really
@@BrickBuildersMD that’s great that Lego means so much to you. Clearly you have a talent but, I would suggest rather that regret the time lost be thankful that you you found your passion. I suspect most don’t. Again, fantastic that you clearly get this wonderful hobby.
What a great Lego street. I got back into it a year and a half ago at 45 so can build with my son. Spent thousands and been loving every minute. 😂 I only have 6 Modulars in our Lego street. Wish it had more. My favourites are medieval blacksmith, Eldorado fortress, Galaxy Explorer, wall mounted Batwing, Boutique hotel and the mighty bowser.
Thank you for the video, it's an exceptional lighted city. Hope you won't ever have to sell it. I'm grateful for the privilege of being able to enjoy it, and plan to share it with my sister, who told me that she took her son on a trip to a bigger town in their province just to look at the Christmas lights. Watching this video is much better and more worthwhile, I think! I'm glad I've discovered your channel. May you keep on keeping on.
I think the light kits add a nice touch. I use a different company and I believe most of their kits have the powered connection in between the modular floors so you can remove the floors as needed. I do agree, they are a pain to install, but they look great. Thank you for the video and your time. BTY, I just found your channel and subscribed.
Just for your info, Game of Bricks are not a Chinese company. They're from Estonia in Northern Europe. I have lights from them in the 7 modulars I have and I agree they are fiddly to install but look great when done. The wireless connectors are definitely worth purchasing but I wish they'd just include them in the kits. Your city looks great. Wish I had the space to do the same 😊
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I have not modified any Lego to fit the light kits. My issues are 1. that they can be tricky things to install, and 2. they inhibit the easy disassembly of the model if you wish to look inside, and finally, 3. it can be relatively expensive to fit these to an entire city.
From a younger 'old bloke' that also re-entered the hobby mid-covid, looks great! A thought on the park area you are disappointed with - you could replicate a lot of the landscaping techniques & styles of the Spring Lantern Festival gardens across the road into it. They are all very clever, but not overly complicated. It could look very well considering how close the two areas are to each other.
Wow - that is impressive on all the Lighting Kits you installed - City looks awesome but I agree with you. Must have been frustrating to install. Again - Nice job
Hey, from another old bloke in Canada, I really enjoyed your video and your city. I started my Lego City about 7 years ago just before I retired. My youngest son had some Lego when he was young. He grew up and moved to Australia, so the Lego stayed with me and it became my inspiration for a retirement hobby. I have all the Modular’s, but not the Marvel stuff. I have many MOC’s also, plus 7 trains and a shipyard I do agree, one of my favourites it The Fishing Store and my other fav is the Medieval Blacksmith Shop. Oh yes, I also have a couple of large castles and a village. My Lego room is about 18’ x 14’ , with a build table and storage and shelving around the exterior walls. I don’t hunt, fish, cycle, snowmobile, or 4 wheel….so this is my hobby….and I love it. All the best from Canada. 👍🌲🚂😎🇨🇦
Thank you for your kind comments. My favourite modular is the Old Fishing Store, I am thinking of doing a video to argue why I think it's the best modular ever.
@@MrFaulkers I agree with you and I will certainly sign your petition for the Fishing Store as the best modular, although the Medieval Blacksmith Shop is equally as impressive and a fabulous build. You should check it out. A more personal question, if you don’t mind? My favourite television show is, Escape to the Country, which is shot in great Britain…..so given your accent, may I ask where you live? I am on the East coast of Canada., in the province of New Brunswick. Just curious, if it too personal, forgive me. Most the the Lego people I see on here are much younger and harder to relate to. Anyway…..I ramble on. Thanks for your reply I do appreciate it. Ta Ta for now. 👍😎🇨🇦
🔥Great build! I agree about it being a rewarding experience! I like to encourage everyone to try custom builds. There are always so many interesting problems to solve! I really love the aesthetic of this set and it's a great inclusion for a city!😎
I think the natural history museum would look nice in between the diner and the parisian restaurant. I think exposing its side does the model more justice. I got it right in between the sanctum sanctorum next to the alleyway and the boutique hotel, this way it feels like it stands on itself. Great city though!
Actually, I wasn’t happy with putting the museum between other buildings at all. In my country most museums stand alone, usually with a bit of a park or lawn area around them. They are large prominent buildings and deserve to be seen and appreciated. I had an area with two full baseplates so, I centered the museum with a parking area on one end and a small park, with a statue and a small monument on the other, a few small trees and shrubs as well. It’s across the street, side by side, from the Boutique Hotel, which I doubled…and also stands alone. Those two buildings need to be appreciated for their architectural beauty.👍😎🇨🇦
You should check rebrickable now, there some cool versions with two sets, where it's not just mirrored, e.g also having stairs to the roof, but not two entrances and so on.
Nice! Next, try to add curved roofs to the empty corners where a roof is meant to be. That will bring the look to the next level and truely give that oriental feel
