Hello Viewers, I'm Siddhartha and I will be documenting my Bansuri learning journey on this channel. I will include the videos about the knowledge that I'm gaining, link the resources that I'm using, share the struggles I encounter. I hope my channel helps other learners on their Bansuri Journey.
Thanks for sharing this , but you will laugh at me if I tell you forget about E , have shifted to B to. G and having hell pain in my fingers 🤣.. feels like I should stick to B only , do I have any hope with G ?
Getting used to a Bass flute takes time. If your goal is to play E Bass, start with B Bass, then G Bass and then E Bass. You would have to at least spend 100-150 hours on each flute before you move on to another one. Make sure your fingers are moving comfortably and you are maintaining tonal quality.
Hi bro , I started my Bansuri journey few months back : learning carnatic & hindusthani flutes simultaneously: plz provide ur insta ID : need to discuss with u something
It is precisely because of the problems mentioned here with playing on long bansuris that has forced me to re-think the fingering system. You can follow my thinking process on my channel under the "Bansuri Innovations" series. There, you will see a bansuri where one uses 9 of the fingers to control the tone holes. The more finger holes you have, the less the fingers have to stretch and consequently the more relaxed they are. Also, having to half close a whole for some notes weakens the volume and tone of the note. This is particularly noticeable when you are playing dha komal on an E Base bansuri or longer. The more separate tone holes you have, the less you need to rely on half-closures. Currently I am playing a bansuri with 10 controllable tone holes, therefore using all 10 fingers including the 2 thumbs. This needs some modifications so that the thumbs do not compromise on the holding and supporting duties. It is very easy to play this bansuri in a totally relaxed way once you get used to the fingering. I have not yet demonstrated this on my channel but will if there is sufficient interest.
There is no simple answer. Any beginner cannot play an E base after playing on C Natural. It will take a good amount of time (4-6 months) for your fingers to stretch and adapt to the bigger flute. I advise buying A Base, G Base, and E Base flutes. Moving from C -> A -> G -> E or C -> G -> E will help your fingers to gradually adapt to the change in size of the flute. I highly encourage you to get custom-made flutes starting from G base. It will make your life easy.
Wait theres a right handed flute? As a leftie should i get a left handed flute then? Is there an ambidextrous flute concept because i do have back issues alreadu and i feel having the ability to switch hands would help not have pain
Yes, there are right handed and left handed flutes. You will be able to find both on Punam Flutes Website. Smaller flutes can be ambidextrous but you definitely want the left handed flute when you buy Base flutes. The holes are moved slightly to contour to your finger position which makes a huge difference in playing.
Thank you I have been wondering which flute key Manose plays... And after wasting so very much time researching him, with no one mentioning the key he plays in, I discovered your video, and to simply find it is the E base that I have been enjoying for years and years. Thank you for making the video.
The tonnel Quality of the flute is good... You have to go long way to command over E bsse Bro.... Keep practicing regrously...All the Best Stay Blessed❤❤❤❤❤ Punam flutes are melodious...

Good morning My name is Enzo, I'm 65 years old and I live in Italy I started playing the 70 cm long G Flute 35 days ago I'm a beginner and I follow your tutorials on youtube Can you please tell me where I can purchase an E Base flute like yours? The sound is very pleasant Thanks for your suggestions
Good , but i think it is not yet started to play songs first try to smooth your blowing and going to other holes .... Go practicing and you will play melodiously
If your Blood pressure is increasing after playing an E base, it is probably from the physical pain your body experienced from playing a bigger flute but not necessarily from the act of blowing into an E base. I’m more relaxed after playing because of the beautiful sound and long breathing sessions.
Im now up to C# bass and after 20 minutes my hands get very tired but I love the sound. It's taken a year to get comfortable, I can play fast now but going back to E after playing a larger flute makes it so much more easier. There is still more stretching I need to do before I move down to a Shankh A Bass
