I bought this watch for $717 AUD. Very happy. I wear it for corporate event work. Very lightweight and wears under the cuff easily. 5 stars out of 5. This new 1st version will be very hard to beat. The bezel action is superb and the 39mm case diameter is the sweet spot for me. Excellent GADA watch as well.

I saw formex essence 39 on festival Micro Praha and imediately fell in love with this watch. I had a little chat with Raphael (the owner of Formex) and he is a very nice guy and you can see the love for the watch. I am just waiting for my limited malachite edition but I am more than sure, that this watch will stay with me for my entire life and I will be happy with them.

I have just ordered a formex reef over the monta skyquest, im in the UK and formex just seemed more straightforward and the whole brand appealed more. Both making lovely watches though.

I have mine for more than two years and even though it’s been at the seiko service station being regulated for many months during that period, I love the watch simply because it’s beautiful .So I wear it even though it loses 27 spd and even though in my draw awaits an automatic watch that’s accurate to 4 spd.I’ll never own a Ferrari but I think I use my seiko for the same reason a Ferrari owner drives his car as often as possible even though he owns many more practical and reliable cars . Simply put as I think Shakespeare once wrote:”A thing of beauty is a joy forever “ And that’s why I bought an automatic watch in the first place.

Decided to take one for the team and accept either (or both) Starlight on behalf of the absentees!! lol Locked in a Purple MoP Nebula, and it will be my first watch. Showed a few pictures to my friends and may have talked about it enough to convince one to also order at this point. Sapphire crystal, a solid automatic movement, and the dial demands attention. It's an absolute stunner. To touch on the logo, other positions could be interesting. It is Adam's signature, though. Personally would love to see it made more luxury in some kind of way. Maybe a signature material! Incredibly excited to receive my piece, and to see what comes next with his line.

I bought this watch before actually visually comparing it to the Monochrome Tudor. When I took this Shellbaclk from its packaging, the similarities were immediately apparent to me. I have only had the Shellback for about a day now. I hope that it holds up. Because of the Selitta SW200-1 inside the watch, I will avoid hand winding it. The Shellback is a very attractive watch and I have not found any cosmetic flaws on my example. Thanks for your review, it was nicely done.

There is no justice in offering a critique of undeniable value for money. I wasn't very enthusiastic about the previous one. This, I agree, is cheaper and better, and that's an achievement. Still, any enthusiasm I feel for it wanes due to the unattractive logo and its prominent 12 o'clock position detracting heavily from all the other work that went in. While it's quite impressive just how much one can get for really very little, ultimately Qasar demonstrates to me that also when very affordable I don't grow less critical. I can rationally forgive when cheaper choices have been made in construction, but there is not enough design and finishing interest here to make it one to consider. I'll admit though, that there is also a bit of a worry about just how much quality I'd be losing by stepping down into this price category from my previous choices.

New brand to me too. The approach seems destined to remain rather niche. Nice to see them experiment with quick release links, but I have to agree that the style of the bracelet doesn't seem the most suitable. Right off the bat, though, the design inspirations from what I find rather uninspiring vintage Rolex patterns make this a rather boring watch inspite of its few original touches. Since the bracelet isn't quite what it should be, I find the whole thing rather forgettable. The white dialled red bezel variant does perk things up a little at first glance. On some oblique shots the crystal seems a bit murky and dusty. I trust this is on the outside?

I have to apologise for some of the shots where indeed my work hasn't been up the par - shot this across 3 weeks and 3 different locations and much of the footage was unusable due to some technical issues.

@benjaminvis
@benjaminvis Месяц назад
Not sure if I missed it, but I'm supposing that the moveable 24hr ring is what allows one to correct for daylight saving? Only very few world timers really convince me, and here I'm not sure the business around the periphery and the added thickness of the movement create a better watch. Of course, anyone who actually wants a world timer will completely ignore this and be able to enjoy what this offers much better. It looks very good on your wrist, but the thickness, to my eyes, remains a bit too present. I really like the flow of the bracelet, so aesthetically I might miss the lovely butterfly it's currently on. When nitpicking, I'd say that arguably the hour markers are just a smidgen on the small side, and for whatever reason, the way the lugs meet the bracelet from the side is not my favourite aspect of the design. While also totally subjective, I don't really like this colour (on this watch), but I guess there'll be others available. I don't think I'm one of the masses when it comes to watch taste, but it's safe to conclude that this is not a watch for me. Didn't previous Lesabliers follow wine-themed designs, or was that just a one off? This seems to have none of that.
@watchyawant
@watchyawant Месяц назад
Apologies, it's actually the lines next to cities in countries where daylight saving is observed that offset the timezone change. I agree the butterfly clasp will be missed and I think the markers are adequatelly proportioned. As for the wine theme, there's a "Sablier" brand you're confusing Lesablier with.

I couldn't agree more. A couple of things kept me from buying a Monta. They don't seem to care much about customers outside the U.S. The international shipping costs are quite high. Not only would I have to add taxes to the overall costs, but in case I'd decide to return the watch, the tax would be a loss, plus they even charge a restocking fee. Their communication bordered on arrogance. All in all, this scared me away from purchasing a Monta.
@benjaminvis
@benjaminvis Месяц назад
Fantatic to see this thorpigh comparison, and it pretty much ends up resulting in how I woudl rank them intuitively. But then, I actually don't know if that would have borne out if I took your systematic approach. What I mean is that, right off the bat, the Fortitude doesnt really have my interest. I feel no connection to it. Arguably the most likeable aspect of its design is the bulb shape on the crown. That's entirely subjective, but well, I guess that is exactly how I approach watches. It's more informative to strive for objectivity for most people, but once you vibe with the person deliveirng the critique, their subjective preference may be more helpful than the most informed view. And this is exactly why subjectively despite discarding one contender immediately it's actually hard to give the win to one of the others. On character ane originality it goes to Tusenö, but especially seeing them up close against each other, I think I might enjoy the overall packahe and presentation on the wrist of the Traska more. Taking into account you have a choice of size to get ir right for you, and Traska could lead the pack. Because aesthetics remains my main motivation the aspect over which Traska trips up for me is above all the boring overall shape of the hands and indices. These are also boring to me on the Rolex it takes inspiration from. Tge execution has further improved on rhe latest version, but in order to really win me over, I think it's their shape that needs to change. That's very unlikely to ever happen, considering their concept. The Tusenö looks very sharp and astute, but arguably not as refined in the overall case presentation on the wrist. I think they could still take another step with that, just shaving and adjusting in the minutiae of case details, composition, crystal, and construction, as Traska have done over the generations. It also. Wouldn't have hurt if Tusenö woudl have applied the hardness coatig they treated their Shellback too. That to me has appeared like an unfortunate oversight in the latest iteration. There also is the interesting alternatives to this Commuter in the Traska line up, and I think I might be closer to desiring a meteorite version or perhaps a Summiteer (in the more original looking green or sand) to enjoy similar refinement but with slightly more character.

Really enjoyed this one Toni, great comparison between these attractive and timeless brands. I love the Tuseno and the Astor & Banks but there is something about the design of the Traska that just steels the show for me. Yes the finishing of the Tuseno for the dial, bracelet and case are excellent and same goes for the Astor & Banks but the Traska has a certain charm that is simply irresistable for me personally. But I wonder if the Orange dial version of the Tuseno could ruffle up my top 3 out of these watches 🧐 Great review Toni 🍿😎

The one thing that I cannot get past with most Seiko watches is the irritating "wave bump" on the back of the watch. It feels like they glued a penny onto the back. Why? They have begun to sink the bump into the watch back on some new models, creating a relatively flat back.
