This is the official RU-vid channel of Bill Sikora, The Florida Bass Paddler. Yes, there are many fantastic anglers out there, however I am the other guy…Basic, Goofy, and Fun. Lets keep it basic, catch some Bass, and have fun!
Bill, you have the patience of Job when it comes to setting the hook. I get way too excited. Great to see you getting out there even in the crazy heat.
@@dereckmcgowan8337 Thank you for your question. I personally do not have any experience with that kayak but it appears that it is approximately 34” wide at the beam. To be honest, I would probably look at their new Yellow Fin stands as it seems it is built for kayaks that are wider. Just my opinion, you could also email Suspenz and ask for their opinion.
@@johnguth5376 It speaks to the stability of a kayak. Some anglers who may “punch” for Bass in thick cover tend to want to stand in their kayak. Some anglers I know actually prefer to stand and fish. It is really a matter of preference.
@@wurdwalkupridedown7829 Great question and to be honest, the answer is no. Now, due to the width of the Predator, the Suspenz stands that it is on are not positioned where they should be to your point. Now Suspenz has just released a new model called the Yellow Fin that is made for the widest kayaks on the market. That would be a better fit in my opinion.
Watching some of your other video's I noticed you fish out of a Old Town Bigwater 132 Kayak or it my be the predictor ( Predator ) to the Bigwater. I'm 6'4", 250 and I'm looking for a stable Kayak to fish out of. I live in south florida and most of my fishing will be lakes and rivers. Do you find this Kayak ( Bigwater 132 ) to be stable platform?
@@jamescobb2887 Yes I do. Even though I have recently purchased a Salty 120 PDL, I will always take the Predator out in bigger waters / inter coastal waters due to its stability.
How long for the install? Easy unbolt oem and slide in new one? Also, I imagine with the rudder in the stored position, it will no longer clear the ground. One of the things I like about the pred/132’s is because of those 2 high arches in the gunnels, you can easily flip it hull side up to inspect the hull for damage, cleaning, as it clears the rudder.
@@mrb401 As far as the install, it takes about 20-25 minutes if done properly. The hardest part is removing and reinstalling the rudder line. This video helped me out a great deal: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uhV9ceLnIEQ.htmlsi=PR0OnoJAoRW80sXX
Ive been using the salty for 3 years. Exclusively fish rivers and salt flats. I think its the best fishing kayak on the market and its my 3rd peddle drive kayak. Currently own it and a Hobie Revo 13. Its fast and turns great. I love the cockpit layout. I love the front well. I love it.
I am having issues with figuring out the deployment cable. The directions suck, and sadly you skipped over the setup of it. I have the cables to the point where it says don’t run them through the last guide. After that the directions basically make zero sense and the pictures the provide based off the directions are impossible.
@@Snags70 OK, so if you find me on Instagram, follow me; this way I can send you a picture I found on my Facebook page. Basically, the bungee runs through the last guide and is connected to the rudder lines via two fisherman's knots. The picture will show better detail.
Nice upload man. The Salty is a great hull. Lot of good things about the yak but my cons are - no side pockets from the factory, off set stern handle as you mentioned, hull slap can be annoying & lastly, installing a finder is not the easiest. I also wished Old Town revised their transducer placement. Or maybe have something covering it for protection like Hobies. Otherwise this yak is a winner in my book.
I know this video is 4yrs old, but I'm currently shopping around for a 12ft kayak to upgrade my current one..Itll be for 4+ day fishing/camping trips..I'm looking for a raised seat and storage for my camping gear so i can go in colder weather as well and not be sitting in the water like my current one..Speed isnt a big factor I'll be primarily on rivers flowing down the mountains, so there is some rapids, rocks etc... Do you think this will handle ok?
I can tell you that this is a very stable kayak and has ample room in its tankwell for gear. As far as the rivers are concerned, how fast is the current? If you’re just drifting, it should be fine.
I kayak fish in Naples Florida. Every now and then same thing happens to me. It gets my adrenaline pumping every time. I know they hardly ever want anything to do with people but still puts me on edge for awhile and I will also watch the gator or gators closely for awhile. Have you had any trouble with them personally? I haven’t just always catches me off guard even when I’m expecting to see them.
Bruh! I just found your channel! I have the ePDL, so will the speed clips work with the bigger tank well? Hope so because I have them sitting in my cart waiting for your reply I definitely don’t want to untie my bungees to attach the BlackPak pro clips.
Thank you for the sub! It has a decent “pop” to it with subtle twitched with the rod tip. You can quiet it down if you choose, just need to be cognizant of keeping the rod twitching very subtle.
deep crankbaits in creek mouths(Timing thing) boat docks and small canals during spawn (redbug, junebug worms, lizards or creature baits) oh and also creek chub during shad spawns
Good information. I heard that the sores are from bedding when I posted a picture of the fish on a Facebook group, so that is why I stated that. I did hear that fertilizer runoff was hurting that lake as well.
@@houseatreides6683 It’s comfortable, but I would recommend a seat pad for longer excursions. The backrest is fine but the lower pad is somewhat thin and you’ll need more cushioning especially for a trip like that.
@@flbasspaddler in one of the rivers I'd use this on, the water can get pretty shallow in some places, around a foot deep, how would this canoe do in that shallow of water? For context I'm 200 lb and I'd have 20-30 lb of gear with me
I love this boat, but I'm constantly worried about the weight limit. I weigh 260-265, so I'm pretty limited on tackle and keeping fish if I'm true to keeping under the Old Town limit of 298 lbs. I keep revisiting selling this boat, as it is my lightweight alternate to my Nucanoe Unlimited. Do you have any experience running up against the weight limit on this guy? Loving the content on this boat whenever you post it btw!
Thank you for the compliment! I personally have not run up the weight limit on this boat. I normally use it for quick trips and bring minimal tackle as I use it in smaller bodies of water.
That makes sense, it really is where this boat shines. I'm in the process of slimming down, so I guess I'll hold onto her for one more season before deciding if the weight limit is really the issue I'm making it out to be.@@flbasspaddler
