Just to add more context the only reason why the company man did this video was because what’s the dirt went on Twitter and called him Carlton it didn’t try to claim he wasn’t being racist by calling him that. Plus, also just only from the last part of that video to point out that what’s the dirt try to apologize in private, but didn’t try to apologize in public until after this video came out. And to be truly honest, the original video from the company man about what dirt was literally just him trying to say hey your family matter videos is kind of weird because you breakdown sound like the white person trying to understand the black culture and tell people about the black culture that he does not understand Fully.
This is about culture guarding, which is right, not all white ppl cross the line on black culture in media. There’s more videos that shed light on what The Company Man said, especially the Kendrick abuse allegations. Especially calling Kendrick an uncle ruckus.
To answer the "favorite verse" question. With me, I'm not really tapped into rap deep like that. So I have to consider who is saying this. Which is why my favorite verse here is the 1st verse. I always been saying that if Drake kept that same energy, as he had in the first verse of 'Family Matters". If he kept that energy for the whole beef, I believe this beef would've been a whole lot closer. I think he still would've lost the beef, but he would've gave off the impression, to Kendrick, that he could keep going. This ain't nothing to him. He could keep going forever, cause he built for this. That would've sent a strong message to Kendrick. He was still gonna lose, but keeping that first verse energy through the whole beef would've made it super close though. Here's the thing about the second verse for me. I think his rapping was perfect. He, lyrically, took on and slaughtered a lot of people coming after him. The beat, was so dang good. I never get tired of hearing the 2nd verse beat. It is so cool for me to hear. The beat, mixed with the lyrics and how they would impact anybody listening, it sounds so hard. He sound superbad. And that's the problem for me, because I can't, personally, shake off that it's Drake doing this. All these hard bars are coming from Drake and I know he not hard. It's part of what makes Chris Brown's Quavo diss work. We know he bout it bout it. However these hard lyrics coming from a guy that got slapped in the mouth by Diddy, got peed on, fake gangster Drake. I can't shake that. I just makes me think "Drake, stop trying to act hard. You soft. Be a joker. That's you. A joker with great rapping skills and singing ability. Do that. Stop trying to be hard. It's not you." That's why the first verse works so well for me. Drake in his element, flowing and sounding cool, doing that too.
Alright. Here's how I see the whole Twitter thing, because normally I can't take Twitter serious. It's the Wild West over there and they just crazy. Now that I hear this entire breakdown. I can see where this guy may have gotten flak for this breakdown. Look, ain't no way it take over an hour to break this song down for real. And how long was the Euphoria breakdown. Nah, ain't no way. I know he normally deconstructs a song, but Euphoria's breakdown was like a deconstructed Thankgiving meal. It had all you could ask for and it was given a fair breakdown. Okay, cool. But my gosh, Family matter is just a BLT sandwich. You deconstruct a BLT, it won't take that long. It was simple, but real good. No way it should've taken this long to break this song down. It's not that deep. Thus song was supposed to be likea death by 1000 cuts, but then before the beef ended Kendrick done gave Drake death by crucifixion. You know, like he said in Not Like Us. Nail Drake the Cross and walk around like Tizo. Drake did a whole surface level jabs and there was little quality rhymes though. Kendrick showed he co bring alot of stuff
