Funny. I was born 5 years after this man died. For some reason the other night, after learning of him, I laid in bed and cried for his early death. I cried because he was stolen from us so soon. I cried because unlike other artists, he died before his prime. He died young. He died before his dream could be achieved. I cried because something insidious and evil took his life - when he was only being loved. Don't get me wrong, NO ONE. Not Liberace, Not Freddie Mercury - deserved to die from Aids - but at least they were written in history, and achieved their musical dreams. Klaus didn't. He died ultimately before his prime, and his real creative genius could be known. I never knew him, but I long for him.
He comes across even in silent pictures and videos as a kind hearted and very warm man who just wanted to sing. It breaks my heart to think he died all alone. As a gay man myself it hurts even more to think he died from that horrible disease.

I just learned about Klaus Nomi some days ago. It's very moving that people still remember him so fondly after all these years and share so many nice stories about him. Seems like his talent made him famous - but it was his character that made him a legend.

KLAUS, the GENUINE GRAND ARTIST was cut short of the success that should have been his... i wish I would have been old enough to have know him for real he died as i had just discovered him... A beautiful kid, beautiful man, beautiful artist. But what he allowed to be done to himself sexually is utterly horrifying and decrepit. (Read also about Montgomery Clift, another beautiful gay man.) As someone once said: "Being gay ain't all about rainbow flags." There's a very dark side that no one today wants to talk about.
Klaus was one of the unfortunate people to contract AIDS early on, when it took its victims quickly and mercilessly. Now we have treatments and medications that can help you live a relatively normal life. I wish he had been with us longer so we could see what new material he would have came up with.

Now im 55 and always feel the same when i hear him singing and so much emotions...i dont know why...maybe like he used to say . Perhaps a little magic..its Nice to be magic..always in our hearts.
