I just got exact same ones from my dad today! I loved blasting them when I was a kid! Awesome speakers no joke! I wanted the $12,000 set but he declined to give em up! Lol i don’t blame him!
It's always amazing what comes back after reflowing boards with fresh solder. That said. I have no clue. Good luck. I have the Eleven iii...less goodies but also works flawlessly.
I have a pair of passive 20/20 events connected to a brazilian hybrid integrated amplifier, called "Audiopax 103i", and a brazilian phono preamplifier "Sunrise Lab - The Phonostage" and my "Technics SL-1800 MK2" turntable , and I think these speakers are just fantastic. I think they have great bass, fast and agile, nice and defined treble, decent midrange. To be honest, I believe it hits a lot of high end speakers around. They have a 203mm drive !!! There are towers that don't have such a big driver! Your "Event 20/20" are passive too, right? The powered ones, I don't like too much. There are another guy here using this monitors in a great setup, and the sound is amazing! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nQgP4k62XGk.html And this is my setup: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xjz3bhVBT6M.html Best regards from Brasil!
The Mcintosh reciever far outclasses anything ive found hifi related at graage sales, however, when legendary audio engineer who created the speker line for Mcintosh,a man named Roger Russell, when he decided to sell his 380 pound per speaker XR-290 line array speaker system, the only pair ever made with white finish,i was who he sold them to for $7,000,i kept them for 8 years & gave them to my brother who just sold them last week fof $25,000 .
How can you compare the Reference series 103.2 to a budget Cresta? The 103.2 was found in recording studios and in today’s money an equivalent model would cost between $1500>$2000. The Cresta is a $200 speaker. All I can think is there is something wrong with the 103.2’s drivers or crossovers, unless of course your ears need a syringe?
I think the capacitors in the 103.2 crossover went out of spec over the years. Further listening made me realize they just weren't performing to their potential. I ended up selling them and disclosing the deficiency to the buyer.
Agree about the 103.2s. During it's heyday you could not find a flatter response, neutral and smoother two way bookshelf loudspeaker. This series of KEF was the last to feature 'Bextrene' woofers... a laminated, vulcanized and critically damped material of considerable cost that went obsolete in favor of lower priced polypropelene units. This woofer model B200 SP1188 with unique 3 hole mount was the final and some say best version of the B200.
Hi, I have the complete PHILIPS LAB SET, AH573 tuner, AH572 preamp, AH578 poweramp. Made in 1978 , cost as much as a new middle class car, just 400 set were made. Anno 2017 it is unbeatable with 4 PHILIPS FB825 loudspeakers. This set is rare nowadays and it will go in my coffin when I die :-)) Never i will sell the set although the worth is quite high these days!!!!! The AH578 Poweramp weighs over 40 kilos!! 260 Watts at peak at 8 Ohm over 10 minutes. Regular peak is 2x 225 Watts at 8 Ohm enough to blow your windows out !
I have the Sansui with matching tuner and rack mounts. Had them for decades. Traveled with the amp to use it in an art show with some multi-track stuff I composed to a downtown gallery, and it acted up. I got lucky and played around with the preamp-amp toggle switch on the back. Fixed the problem. I recommend periodically moving that thing back and forth. You don't need to have the amp on. Simple solution to a channel being out for me on this powerhouse amp. I ran Pioneer 15 inch speakers on it for years. Here's a rec for an amp. Pick up a used Harmon Kardon theater amp with plenty of power. Even pre DTS. I got one from a friend who moved to Bali, and I was knocked out by the warm tube like sound, which I ran on Paradigm minimonitors. Before that Harmon Kardon, now gone only because money gets tight these days, I had Sonus Faber Cremonas, other more expensive Paradigms, smaller Sonus Fabers, and more. And a bunch of different amps...A 4 grand Luxman, a couple tube amps with big power, a McIntosh, and the Harmon Kardon sounded just as good as all those amps. And you can get one of these just pre DTS theater amps for less than 200 bucks. Now I believe that you should pump as much power into your speakers as they can handle without distorting, and then and only then will you find out what they are capable of.
Yes, you compared them with equal ingredients but the blenders are not equal. In order to get the optimal results from a standard blender it's important to cut up the food in smaller pieces. You can make the standard blender drink much smoother by blending the ingredients one at a time. The way you compared it was like trying to compare a VW Volkswagen with a race car. You didn't show what the optimal results from the standard blender could be. All you showed was that a standard blender doesn't process as well as a really expensive one. I already knew that.
I agree with you. If nothing else, I hope people will get a sense that, although the Blendtec is more expensive, it can help save time and will probably last longer.
Of course my Oster won't blend whole carrot! I grate them first. Works!! You're not discouraging me from getting rid of my wonderful Oster blender. Bad unfair video.
