I know I'm really REALLY late here, but allow me to be the resident Nerd and explain how the answers make sense in this interview. "Association with Hopgood": The main question of this one is the whereabouts of Mark Bishop, where he was lately and all of that. Taking in Jessica's statement of taking a drink and the evidence of abuse, Mark Bishop has been to the prop store and Marlon knows it because of the Chloral Hydrate and the Empty Film Canister with Mark's name clear as day on it. "Relationship with Ballard": While the $20,000 check and blackmail clue could've been enough to nail Hopgood on, it's not enough to stick. The empty film canister however does stick because Hopgood was filming Mark Bishop and then June Ballard has the film as insurance for dirt of Bishop. Evidence of Blackmail is obvious so no need to explain here.
I just realized that this ship, The Borealis, is the research vessel that could destroy The Combine (the corporation of aliens in Half-Life series) This is what Gordon Freeman and Alyx is looking for. It's found in Aperture Science! The next Half Life game might be held by Alyx/Gordon going inside the Aperture Lab (if Valve continues the story after Half Life 2: Episode 2 instead of making games retelling the story characters' perspectives in the past)
It's a shame that the questions in this interrogation suck, because this is one of my favourite cases in the game, given that it combines all the aspects of homicide, vice, and even the cut burglary desk, all of which I find to be really entertaining. I especially think the Henderson question is awful. Aside from the fact that we don't know anything about Henderson at this point other than that he was an older man that Julia was seeing, and that Henry knows about him, the accuse feels like a game editing mistake; not only does it have no correlation to what Cole is asking, but the evidence also proves absolutely nothing, other than that Henry is involved in the burglaries...which he already admitted to the in the previous question. Not only that, but what Cole says is completely untrue and is a continuity problem. You can look back at the contraband list and there is no mention of Stoneman anywhere on it. So where did Cole get that information that Henry stole from him, and why is the contraband list proof of it? As a side rant, there is absolutely no way Cole should see a link between Henry and Henderson in the first place prior to this. When Cole first asks Henry at the station if he knows of Julia's relations, he instantly jumps the gun and accuses Henry of knowing who he is without proof, and then when Henry says that he barely knows him but thinks he might be from New York, Cole uses the housekeeper's statement as evidence to the contrary. I mean, just what? It is perfectly likely that Henry genuinely doesn't know much about him and would mistake where he lives, and it isn't exactly proof of Henry lying just because he's wrong. Could you imagine if a detective asked you something like this: "Was your friend sleeping around?" "Uhhh, I'm not sure, she didn't tell me one way or another." "LIAR, she was sleeping with a dude named Jeff. Admit it, you know who he is." "Calm down, yeah I think I've heard his name in passing before, but I don't really know him. I think he's from New York or something." "HA, lies again. Your friend's housekeeper says that this man you've barely heared of is actually from San Fransisco, therefore you must know him." I love this game, but by God this interrogation and whole case feels so weird.
Even though he obviously holds back information because he's not an idiot, I wish this interrogation wasn't so easy. You'd think that a mob boss like Micky would be a better liar at this point, but he has some of the most obvious tells in the whole game. Compare him to someone like Leland Monroe who barely bats an inch, and the difference is striking.
This is the worst interrogation in game. First of all, if you visit him before you visit the other person (it’s a random order) you can’t get the first one correctly. Secondly, I got the wrong facial animation, implying it was either lie or doubt when it was the truth. This is one of my favorite cases in game but this part always annoys me so much
right after that interrogation morphine was off the street just like that, sheldon got a deal with phelps, who was promoted to chief of police, and everyone lived happily ever after! and ira stopped burning houses ofc
I looked this up cause that second question I wanted to say good cop, but if I missed the question and dashboard I gotta go through all the set again for clues haha. I use these I guess my answer and like 8/10 times I’m right. It’s usually the lie and then the evidence I’ll mix up.
