Mine does the same thing after about two years old. Power went out for a few seconds then back on... Shorted it out. So pathetic. I can't believe new A/C units last only two years because of faulty ridiculous chip boards and probably because of nonsense like attach the A/C to your wifi. Overall, so ridiculous. I'm not sure if I'll replace mine or do this yet. But it's like 99 degrees today in St. Louis and my bedroom needs A/C.
My AC went out completely! Nothing on the screen. So I wasn't sure if it would work for me Well praise the Lord our God it worked like a charm. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us all! Model AHK12LZW1 a 110V 12,000 BTU GE Wi-Fi w/remote God is always good.
Mine has a different situation? (It’s a GE) I only have four wires coming from unit to motherboard. (Red, white, yellow, brown) Then five wires leave motherboard and connect to a wifi chip (black, white, red, green, maroon/brown) So confused as to how to deal with this.
Woah wait a minute, there's no way to actually fix the board to be able to use the remote controller? This kinda just turns the AC into a vintage switch air conditioner
It works, but for how long, any freezing up issues, over heating? Just wondering because i didn't see anyone posted comments of longevity.. thank you. 😊
Thank you from 8500 ft in Colorado, recent heat wave, beep beep 88 message, filter blink blink. Pull out that electronic board, tie those four wires together, bypass all the frills and presto: Cool Air. Thanks again I tried other ideas, and your did it!
Why not just buy a new board. Second is all the videos they show them cutting the wires. Do the wires connect with a plug or all them soldered in so if I were to just buy a new board. Will the connection just lift off and plug back in ?
Thank you sir for creating this video. My model AHTK08AAW1 purchased new on July 2022 just fried on me this week. All other troubleshooting steps I took from reading online articles did not resolve the 'beep 88 reboot' problem. Thanks to you, I attempted the same steps you mentioned here and now my AC is running like a champ again with cold air blowing in. It's strange though, when I opened the unit and got to the board, I didn't see any signs of water damage or corrosion. It was apparently clean so I was worried that maybe something else is wrong with my unit but I made the decision and went for it. Glad I did. The only downside is losing literally any control functions/settings such as mode, temperature, fan, wifi etc etc.. However with today's economy and rising costs, it's an easy decision to make to get it running than to schedule and pay for an out of warranty technician to service it, or purchasing an entire new unit. The only thing I'm unsure of now is what temperature it is running at. Like is there a default temp? Guess I'll never know but it's definitely running cold. Also saves having to throw out an entire AC unit that still has a functional compressor and fan. All of the internal components work. Thanks again!!
It’s evident you’ve heard this countless times so I hope you don’t mind me being repetitive. Thank you for this tutorial! It worked like a charm. If you haven’t already, I’d love for you to take a moment to digest how you’ve remedied an unexpected financial hardship for countless people by sharing your knowledge! You deserve your flowers 💐
What you can do is cut your power cord and splice it through a box and put a regular light switch inside.. Then you can just flip the switch to cut the power, rather than having to unplug it every time. It won't look that great having a box dangling along the wall, but it will work.. Another thing you could do is pull your plug out of the wall. add a double gang box and then put the switch right there next to your plug... . . . . . . . . or just unplug it. ;)
My MAN !! BIG Appreciation! we had thunderstorms for days in a row. I live in a 20 unit loft and the power went out for a few.. KNOCKING out the central air system and my personal air conditioner. wow.. Like You Said " THANK YOU GOD..! worked like you said it would..! I usually don't send comments..!! I'll keep it short..! You The Man.. Bless & Safe.
We went in 2023 and will be going back in July 2024. Thank you for a review of the park to remind us of what is there. Last year we rented a Cabana. It was ok, the servers were -- you know -- teenagers, so it was eh... we will likely not get a cabana, this year.
Unfortunately this didn't work for the AKLK14AAG1 14,000 BTU unit. The connector only has 4 wires Yellow, Red, Purple, and White. I tried splicing them all together and the unit will not come on at all. I also tried just splicing Red, White, Yellow together and nothing. I'm guessing the absence of the black wire is the reason. Anyone know if there's a way I might get this to work? I'd appreciate it as it's about to get really hot and both of my units are down at the same time! I noticed the board had a lot of moisture on it when I took it out and a lot of rusted solder joints.
@@brandoncasias6464 it worked in the fact that I could run the AC but still with only the same as in the video where they cut and wired nutted the ones I didn’t cut. I could not control it any more than the video. Still had to power on/off from the outlet. I think I should have cut wires 1 at a time and tested after each cut. I bought a new AC and will keep this one as a spare. I went to a local shop that sells appliance parts and he said it would be $90 plus shipping for the board which, includes a wiring harness, but it would take 7 weeks to get. I can shop around now through online appliance parts stores. We are in the midst of a heat wave here in NJ and waiting was not an option. Nor was letting it run at max cool without a thermostat. I am not the only one in the house.
@@FSCHW thanks man! Yeah I went to reddit and saw a comment about cutting the purple wire in-between the white wire and the black wire. I also bought a geenie outlet and can turn it on and off with my phone now!
We have had ours for two years tho so far . No clue the issue. Just stopped cooling all Together . I got a cover for the outside and zip tie the straps so it cannot be taken or messed with by passersby. What stinks is , where I live with my kid , it is so noisy outside . The neighbors are full of ignorance among other things I won’t mention . So I use it year round . (Mind when we are not home I shut it off ). It’s on fan in winter . Blocks out all the noise perfectly. Summer time is cool air . Until this year about a month ago it stopped working . I have cleaned it . With the proper tools. Coil cleaners , foaming cleaner ect . I guess I can’t do this because if I do, I will not be able to turn off the cool air setting . And it will be no use in winter . Guess I’ll have to find another solution. If I can’t I just might result to this . It’s too hot . 😢
Just want to say thank you so much I just did this to my air conditioner that I thought was done for and it immediately turned on and started blowing cold air much needed it is so hot in our house with temps reaching uper 90s today and through the next week. Thank you again 🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌 Praise you!
Thank you for the fix now I have air again!! however now I’m having an issue where after a few hours the air coming out is no longer cold. I unplug it for a few minutes and plug back in and it goes back to cold but is anyone having this issue too?
Thanks this helped relieve the heat untill the new board arrived. I paid $39 bucks and installed in 15min. I also insulated around cover for extra moisture barrier.
I did that and it didn’t work for me 😒 damn a $400 AC now missing a board 🤦🏻♂️now I’m gonna have to solder it back every cable damn maybe it needed to be refilled by a professional ugh.
