Not with those wheels. I disagree! I think this car looks perfect and the owner made some great design decisions. The only thing I would want different if it were mine is to have a manual transmission. I just don't think a sports car/drivers car is complete without being able to bang through the gears. There's something incomparable about being able to do that, like you and the car have become one...
I know this is an older video, but this conversion looks amazing, it looks factory! Because I may never have a shot at a 911R I'll probably convert a 991.1 GTS into an R... using what you've done here. Hope you either still have it or have moved on to yet another 911.
*You may or may not see this, did you lose the steering wheel buttons functionalities? Like the instrument cluster buttons, radio buttons, etc as I don't see the buttons on the new steering wheel.*
you have to change the stalks.. the old stalk cluster had 3 arms, the new one you have to install has 4. the fourth is basically what replaces the buttons.
You don't even need to remove the battery plate. I have done this. It looks cool but, you look like your trying to hard. Better if the plastic chrome was a lityle bit darker to match the metal in the middle. Over time it will dull a bit, but not as much. I'm talking about all the ones that are sold, probably out of one mold in China. I'm holding my key as I type this and it's a bit too light of a color still. -FYI
the wheel was 1.2k (suncoast) and the installation was 1k.. if I didn't have the multi function buttons I could do it myself but if you have the multi function buttons the stalks need to change (from 3 stalks goes to 4 stalks + programming). that is sadly dealer stuff
As a vaunted 911 owner, you might want to consider attending your local Porsche club's next HPDE day and learn how to hold a steering wheel when you drive. This said, I don't see the point of your video - it's certainly not a "review". I learned nothing about the car you're driving, it's options, it's specifications, included standard features or available options.
I am a solo HPDE driver with all local schools (red run group). If you ever decide to attend a session let me know and I will be your instructor.. I will teach you how to hold the steering wheel in 6 o'clock position using your knees.. it's the best
I clicked on this video because I am in the process of buying a used 2010 997.2 C2S with the PDK and I hated the stock steering wheel with the buttons and one of the conditions to make the sale happen was to replace the stock wheel with a steering wheel with the paddle shifters. So here I was hoping to get a little more insight into the perhaps the installation procedure and whatever other info on the system, but instead all I see in the video is some dude driving down the highway with cars passing to his left while he holds the bottom of his steering wheel with one hand while the other hand is in his lap. Seriously dude, if someone turns into you because they are not paying attention at highway speeds do you actually think you are going to be able to take evasive actions with such a complacent attitude towards driving? Go schedule some track time with an instructor where they teach you how to drive. Everything you learn on the track will transfer over to the public roads and could save your bacon one day. Sure would be nice if I could have the 7 minutes and 11 seconds of my life back. :P
lol man.. I think you spent 8 minutes and 12 seconds writing this comment so you clearly don't have a sound judgement... I am also a solo driver running red run group will all driving schools in Texas.. take chill pill.
