Sorry I'm new to this game but I absolutely love it, what are the mods you're using? Like you can add ocean water anywhere you want and add buildings like you want and so..
I actually use a huge amount of mods. For water I use a combination of water textures and the Water Features mod. Then there is the Anarchy Mod and plop it mod. My recommendation is to go to the mods section within the game, look at what is available and get the ones that suit your game style. For example I built creatively and so I have no interest in mods dealing with the economy. Have a look and experiment and see what works for you.
I was an avid flight simmer who only flew GA and tried to fly as realistically as possible. In the sim, I could grease every landing. When I did my discovery flight, my CFI let me attempt to land. Even with him talking me through it step by step, he needed to take the controls on short final because we were a non-stabilized mess about to land short in the grass. It would be several lessons before I could even accomplish slamming the plane hard onto the runway. It was a very humbling experience.
I’d like to understand your thoughts as to why only an autoland would work. Is it because of the feel and timing needed to perform the flare correctly can only be appreciated with direct experience or something else?
@@neilmouneimne5451 yes. Landing a real aircraft is very different from a sim. Plus, I think having at the back of your mind that there are almost 200 people on board would add a lot of stress. Also, you can always count on the weather to make life hard for you. 😉
Okay, say you do it in VR and have one of those full motion platforms like the hero h3, is msfs that bad at simulating the sight picture/ depth perception and when to flare, etc?
@@ras351 Hmmm..maybe. The problem is that real aircraft have a lot of inertia which is not really represented that well in FS. A heavy A320 with sharklets will actually start to speed up on the ILS if you are with Flaps1. If it is hot and you have thermals that adds another level of complexity. I have seen flightsimmers booking a full motion sim and doing ok, but with a lot of help.
@@fsclips Hi, thanks for your answer. I used to be a pilot, got my commercial multi engine, CFI ratings, flight instructed and worked for a little while for a small freight company in California called Ameriflight. I had medical issues and had to give up on the idea of being an airline pilot, and haven't flown for years now. The largest aircraft I got to fly IRL was a Beech 99 and some right seat Citation time. I discovered MSFS recently and started playing airline pilot with the PMDG 737 and the FlybyWire A320, doing some "self training" where my formal training left off to at least give myself an idea of what it is like to fly one of these. That is why I wonder, perhaps with MSFS 2024 it will be more realistic yet.
I guess Vatsim users would ha a slight advantage, but you still need to know how to work real world radios and CPDLC to get to a controller in the first place. Also, if you are a non-pilot ATC would use plain language, so that wouldn´t be an issue. However, using VATSIM could maybe help a bit.
Rotate MD-11 is better. The TFDi doesn’t have proper VNAV and it can’t do a step climb. Would not recommend to anyone who is interested in realistic long hauls
I guess the reason why people call the MD-11 an old, classic airliner is that it went out of production after Boeing merged with McDonell-Douglas, which was almost 30 years ago.
@@jeroenpost78 very simple. I use the drone camera and set the camera speed very low. Top Tip: If you set the zoom to 77 and the speeds to 4 it works perfectly with turning and flying around the aircraft 🙂
I wouldn’t buy it without PW engines, that’s a shame, any airline that had it that I would love to fly the livery and routes of did not have GEs. I can’t really understand, only two variants to model. Flight Sim addon developers would have lost their minds if the RR Trent version would have ever come to existence 😅
I wouldn’t consider md-11 and 777 same release to be compared. Md-11 was released in 90, and the 777 was several years later, and just has different systems etc. On the TFDi, Im not too happy with it either. We were charged MORE than any other aircraft, yet the md-11 has some fairly significant issues. We paid $80 for a BETA release. TFDi said they wouldnt release until it was ready….clearly it isnt. But try asking those questions on their discord…LOL. They will “attack” so be ready
If I remember correctly the MD-11 only flew two years before the 777, so, pretty close. Some of my former MD-11 colleagues say that going to the Airbus felt like a step back in some regards. I think it is a pretty clever aircraft. The problem lies with the aerodynamics. In any case, I agree with your statement that this product feels like it isn't quite ready yet, which is a shame because the things that are working are great. Let's hope that over time this will develop into the aircraft we all want it to be.
Man, when I was 16 I had your original Fedex MD11 video with that goldfrapp song on repeat. It instilled so much admiration I currently still hold for this bird. As soon as TFDi announced this project, I went back to re-watch it more times than I could count. I'm currently 27 and it's such a core memory of my childhood, so to see you reviewing this on your channel after all these years is pretty awesome.
@@nabilelhamdaoui7209 Thank you. That means a lot. I want to say though I have never seen myself as a RU-vidr. I was just enjoying the process of producing creative things and posting them online. Which is why this is not a commercial channel running after the RU-vid algorithm. I don't think this channel will ever be something big, but if it makes some people happy and creates nice memories then that's more than I could ever ask for.
@@fsclips You’re the creator of a core memory of my childhood I still think about day to day. That video, with that takeoff sound as the intro.. I will take it with me to the grave. Thank you for not changing to whatever the algorithm likes. And for keeping your channel going. I love going back to that video!
Very interesting to hear your experiences with the product. I personally haven't had any crash to desktop issues whatsoever flying this aircraft, even on long hauls, etc. I would say, the TFDI support is some of the best I've seen in a flight simulator community. Their discord server is full of extremely helpful people that are great to ask any questions.
Fantastic video man! I still like to go back and watch your old videos using FS2004 and FSX. The nostalgia from childhood. Especially with the PMDG MD-11.
Thank you. The map is a default one that ships with the game and is called Corral Riches. However, I have done a lot of landscaping. I talked about it a bit in episode 1 and in episode 12 you will see a lot of landscaping in order to create a mountain. I hope this helps.
