Welcome to the official RU-vid Page of DR Handmade Strings.
Since 1989, DR Handmade Strings has been dedicated to making wonderful sounding hand made strings. The idea is that great sound inspires a musician to play better and longer, while enjoying themselves even more.
Many of us at DR Handmade Strings are players. It is from our own experience, our own obession with music, as well as the highly valued input from many players worldwide that encourage us at DR to continually strive and increase the range of sounds available to guitar and bass players. We are especially grateful to those players who let us know they can hear, feel and appreciate the difference. DR makes a diverse range of types and models of strings because each one does clearly provide a different sound and feel for the many styles of playing and players.
DR....I freaking love you guys😂❤❤. My go to for 30 years. I use a fresh set every gig as well as a fresh set every track in a studio setting. Thank you. So very much. The tension, lord have mercy THE FEEL and consistency...😮 30 freaking years worth. Never a dead string, or dead spot for that matter. And good God the sparkly top end (I use Hi Beams), is my secret weapon😂.
I put these on my Ibanez SR300 and they sound fantastic. They get a great tone and sound out of a $300 beginner bass. Also, I suck at playing the bass but yes, they sound very bright.
Right! why does every demo have to be slap and a million miles per hour. Just play regular bass lines so that we can hear the articulation in the notes.
Yes it does! Accurate Core Technology, featured in all Dragon Skin+ Electric, Acoustic, Bass and Mandolin strings upgrades the core to make the strings more resonant, dynamic and louder. Please check them out and let us know what YOU think!
Victor inspires me. I’m a mediocre bassist at best. Not for lack of wanting to be better but my work schedule most of my life wasn’t conducive with a lot of practice but I planned on getting all the practice I wanted when I retired so when I retired in 2018 I had a freeking small stroke. I do consider myself very lucky I can still lead a normal life and still play but the stroke left me numb on my right side, plucking side, and my fingers get a mind of their own sometimes. My worst symptom was I can practice for hours to learn a song but half an hour after I forget most if not all of what I learned. So thanks to the advice of Victor in some of his talks I’m happy just playing the bass. He made it ok to not be able to learn songs and just enjoy the process which is what I do. Thank You Victor. A side note I’ve always used DR strings especially the coated Red Devils. It’s just a bonus that Victor is a spokesman for them.
Love the pure blues but can you package them like 6and5 in one sleeve,4and3,etc. I keep messing up when using your strings, common sense is a fine thing to waste, thanks.
Wow I learned something new today. I have been using DR coated strings off and on for a few years and never once opened the box to look at the instructions. I always stretched without a thought about it except for one of my 5 stringers. I believe I put that set on around 2009 maybe? I remember not stretching those strings because I was in a hurry and I brought it for a back up bass. It’s 2024 and that set is still on there and still sounds great. Even though some of the coating has rubbed off from years of playing that bass they still sound great.
Hey Mark, Ive been using the DR Hibeam strings for 2 years now on my $ string Sandberg Jazz. I played a friends Musicman bass with Fatbeam Stainless and they feel even better and sound better to. Can you do a video on the Hi-Beams?
i got a pack of tite-fit 11-80 8 string guitar strings and they feel amazing, the sustain is noticeable, i can go from just chugging on the low string to playing classical like, handmade is an understatement honestly, these strings are basically perfect in clarity and make the low f# note really pop
I used to play a lot of King's X stuff so I had all sorts of weird drop tunings. I used these strings and they were great. I don't do that stuff so much anymore but I'd still recommend these strings to anyone that like drop tuning.
if you dont DR Strings will raid your house and snip all the strings on your guitars forcing you to buy more strings from them, this has happened to me so BEWARE
To me these sound kinda mellow. I prefer the nice chime and brightness of neon strings. What are your brightest strings? I'm guessing highbeams but not sure
