Love how far the camera guy is to not show where the tranny fluid dipstick is. Super helpful!

We're about 4 beers into our debate, maybe you can clear it up. When checking the enging oil and the trans fluid, do you screw the dipstick plug in then out to check levels, or insert dipsticks down to the threaded plug only, then remove and check level? Thanks for the video.

Great video! But what about the upper rubber boot and splines? Is there no grease necessary?

Paolo, you would not want to use the Spectro Primary fluid in the Transmission. There are certain fluids out there that could be used in both, but this is not one them. In my opinion, it's best to use lubricants that are specifically designed for each differed use. Hope this helps!

Very nicely done, question, if you had noticed wear and tear on the splines. At what point would you have made the call to replace the shaft? Cheers.
@seanmoore5300
@seanmoore5300 3 года назад
Ole, most likely I would have only replaced the shaft if there was serious damage to the teeth on the shaft, or if there was excessive rust. This bike only had about 25,000 on it so there wouldn't be much wear on the teeth,.

Thank you for posting a very helpful video. I have a question though - what about the splines on the gearbox side? Nobody ever mentions that side and they surely also require a lube, not?
@cycleoildirect5926
@cycleoildirect5926 4 года назад
Leon, If you ever have the drive shaft fully removed I would recommend lubing the splines on the gear box side as well, however that area is not as prone to water intrusion like the final drive is. The final drive splines are known to rust if any water gets in, so the moly lube keeps that rust away if water does make it in.
