Spirit Yachts is the world leader in modern classic yacht design and build. Based in Suffolk on the east coast of the UK, Spirit Yachts has a portfolio of customised, wooden sail and power yachts ranging from day sailors to superyachts.
Established in 1993, Spirit Yachts was founded by Sean McMillan and Mick Newman, who set out to offer yacht owners a beautiful, sustainable alternative to fibreglass, production boats. This goal remains at the core of the company’s ethos today.
From humble beginnings in the Suffolk countryside, Spirit Yachts now operates from a large waterside facility with a team of highly skilled designers, naval architects, boat builders, cabinet makers, electricians and engineers.
Shouldn't a serving or retired officer of the Royal Naval Reserve fly the Blue ensign from his Yacht? especially so when sailing in the waters of one of His Majesty's Dominions.
I had the pleasure of assisting with the making of this video in a small way and it's great to see the outcome. A spectacular boat built by a great bunch of people in Ipswich. Video shot in Guernsey.
I was lucky enough to sail on a 46' (curved carbon mast) for some time. I loved that boat. The lines, the rigg, the finish. The sailing was awsome. Nice handling, fast sailing. Other boats got a gust; we got a gust and accelerated immediately. Other people always thought it was an old boat and complained about the modern equipment, very funny. It was a very, very beautiful time. And as always: You know what you had when you lost it.
