I am the owner of the radio called Oney Flash FM, which you listened to at the specified moment. I wonder where we have reached with 1 kW output power. We are broadcasting from Turkey
Hello. I don't want to disclose my exact QTH here, so the location is somewhere close to the northern border of Belarus, small summer house outside of villages and cities. There were some mistakes in the description and title (wrong time and date) - fixed. I've found the file and processed it with Gqrx from current rds_decoder branch: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3nHSF2oJkGg.html Oney Flash FM was received and identified (thanks to good RDS subcarrier deviation) 6 times during 2023 summer. That were sporadic E propagation events, so the reception did not last too long, 2..5 munites or so.
That's just 2 HackRFs clocked from a single TCXO. It is possible to receive 3 systems using even a single HackRF. See this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZQs2sFchJ6w.html
I just got an rx888mk2, is this special version of gqrx still the way to get the unit to work on linux? I can't find much info on running it on linux besides ka9q, I use sdr++ mostly.
This special version of Gqrx is not really required. The stock version of Gqrx should work well too. Just build patched ExtIO_sddc and patched gr-osmosdr from my github. Or you may try the SoapySDR driver from ik1xpv's ExtIO_sddc repository.
@@vladisslav2011 Cool, thanks. In case we want to direclty manipulate raw data from the stream using e.g. Python3... is the conversion from whatever the USB/Eth stream delivers to IQ complex samples straightforward? Thx
Is there a GPS Spoofing that is mobile for a specific area so that you broadcast satellites broadcasting a map of a specific size, not like spoofing a fixed GPS for just one place?
You may install a dmg from my github repository, but I don't think, that it would work well due to github.com/gnuradio/gnuradio/issues/6105 It may be better to patch GNU Radio to fix #6105 and maybe #6110, build and install it, then build and install rds_decoder branch from source...
I don't have genuine SDRPlay devices, so don't know. These spurs are most likely caused by PGA self oscillating at high gain reduction levels or MSi001 internal LDO instability. I've tried to add extra bypass capacitors, but it did not help.
I recently bought two of these devices and both exhibit this same behavior to different degrees! I was wondering why the spurs move around with changes to the gain control settings. What do you think causes this: overload, poor mixer stability, or poorly designed ADC??? My units are the Blue Dolphin MSi-SDRs and seem to have +/- 2.5 ppm XOs installed instead of 0.5 TCXO but they are extremely sensitive. I decided I can live with the frequency instability and the spurs! It seems there is NO perfect SDR for an affordable price!!! Thanks for the videos!!!
Hello! Just wondering if you installed a TCXO because the Purple MSI SDR does not have a temperature controlled crystal oscillator, even though it says it does?????
My variant of "purple PCB MSI SDR" had generic 20ppm crystal and wrong load capacitors, so I had to change it to a TCXO to improve LO frequency accuracy and stability.
@@vladisslav2011 WOW, 20 ppm is pretty bad! Good thing you have the skill to solder in the new one! I just purchased two MSI-SDR Blue Dolphin dongles and both crystal oscillators were not 0.5 ppm temperature controlled as was marked on the case!!!!
@@vladisslav2011 How did you know your XO was 20 ppm? I'm wondering how I can see what mine is. Is it the number on the oscillator or did you test it? Thanks!
@@danedewaard8215 I've just read the crystal marking... The real measured offset was ~17ppm on VHF/UHF and twice as much on HF. I've used HF time station (this video), GNNS satellites transmissions and 0.1ppm TCXO fundamental and overtones as reference signals.
It's highly unlikely to be merged because it does not play well (performance degradation) with recent plotter changes and it depends on other heavy changes that are unlikely to be merged too: multi-vfo, IQ Tool formats and so on. You may try to cherry-pick some commits from this branch github.com/vladisslav2011/gqrx/commits/fft_channelizer/ or try to rebase it on top of current master...

I'm sorry, which one performs the best in your opinion? From your video, it seems like the HackRF has the best SNR.
Yes. It's just a piece of wire, cut into two and connected to a differential amplifier. No filters/matching networks. That "antenna" is placed in the attic under a metal roof. Works surprisingly well though.
@@johnvijver3815 2 BJTs + balun. I have not written a schematic as it's trivial. I just have soldered 2 BJTs in common emitter differential stage configuration, bias network, balun (DIY too, on a small ferrite ring) and a SMA-F connector to a piece of prototyping PCB and it works.

It may be hardware or software issue. If you have some chinese clone, check I and Q traces from MSi001 to MSi2500 for resistors and capacitors - if there are any, remove capacitors and replace resistors with jumpers. Try installing gr-iqbal, building gr-osmosdr with iq balance support and enabling corresponding checkbox in Gqrx - it may help in some cases, but not in case of incorrectly designed hardware.

As PPP_Static mode does not work well, the accuracy is not very good. ~10m, I think. Adding Glonass to the GPS+Galileo+BeiDou receiver degrades accuracy, but improves availability.

Thats an uplink sweep , its a technique for locating the input of a transponder , lets say you wanna get into the transponder but you dont know the uplink frequency , what you do is sweep it with a signal generator hooked to a PA , then while sweeping it you look for this on your SDR or spectrum analyzer, what you see sweeping and making diagonal lines is the signal gen sweeping a range , then you have the manual confirmation when you see the one that unstable That looks like Alphasat on 24E .. im i correct ?
I don't think so. The oscillations are too random and chaotic. It looks like some another malfunctioning satellite is emitting the signal, that is hitting this tranponder's upplink.
It may be left in a build path. gr-osmosdr includes build-time library location into search path. This exception is not related to Extio_sddc. Some IIR filter is configured incorrectly. Have you tried running Gqrx with a clean config? (gqrx -r)
