Both look great, and sporting MDC name plates too! By the way, it is pronounced TALLY-ESSIN. The Dylan will look so much better when you have had a chance to paint the wheels black.
Very nice modifications and liveries on two very beautiful locomotives !...... If they were mine I think that I would be a bit skittish about steaming them ;-)..... Thanks for sharing, Geoff.
I'm a bit deaf, but I'm sure you said 'railton railway' for the Regner Rhaetische Bahn. Just sounded very odd. Also, try moving the burner collar on the Shay to cut down the air howl.
Hi Tac, I have no idea how to correctly pronounce 'Rhaetian' :) I got the English translation from here: www.rhb.ch/en/world-of-railway-experiences/footplate-rides I will pass your Shay tip on to the owner. I must say it does make a bit of a noise. Being a Roundhouse man I wouldn't know about such things :)
@@gasmith841 Ah, you is forgived. Living in the NL I naturally assumed that you were familiar with the vagaries of Germanic languages, even Schweiz-Deutsch! Tell you Shay-owning pal to slacken off the collar screw and move it over the air-hole until the howling stops. BTW, did I mention how much I envy you guys and your lovely location under the trees?
A nice garden layout, thanks for sharing. The Stanley doesn't seem to be moving slowly, for a tram. Did you say it has a slomo, or did I misunderstand?
Great movie my friend Geoff, I have many Roundhouse locomotives since many years ago and I think they are the best locomotives that I have in my collection! Cheers Fabrizio - like4
A very useful run through of fitting radio controls. Remember, you can always fine tune things after test running out on the track with a train to haul.
I went to this show from Canada a few years ago. I love all the little steam engines and enjoy talking to their builders and drivers. I always mean to get back one day.
Thanks Geoff! Both Firing and Driving a steam locomotive is quite an artform, it is quite a challenging "balancing act" that most people do not realize. Oftentimes operating a smaller locomotive is more "tricky" than operating a larger beast! This is a well-presented video! What a fine day you had Geoff!! ;-)
Your club presented a great roster of trains. Good job representing the hobby. The calliope music ain’t that bad. But then I can turn the volume down and I didn’t have to listen all day.
Thanks for the fun video, Geoff! As is my usual habit to better enjoy the small steam portions, I slow the playback to 75%..... and to my weird ears the organ music was a bit more tolerable, and even more distorted, LOL! The RTM Tram Museum looks to be a fascinating place to visit in person, lots of stuff to see.....! Looking forward to Part 2..... ;-)
A big shout out to you Geoff for posting this video! My 23 year old ‘Katie’ started to develop serious running problems, lack of power, steam straight up the chimney to name but a few problems. After ordering a cylinder service kit and watching your video on valve timing the old girl lives to pull another train!……THANK YOU!
I'm glad to hear your Katie is back up and running. Starting with a blank sheet and tasked with sorting out the valve timing is one of those jobs that you can describe on paper or over a pint at the pub but you really need to SEE IT DONE to fully understand the process. That's why I made the video and it's proven to be very popular.
Interesting to see into the nooks & crannies of Roundhouse-Eng!..... A fun tour! Looks to be a good shop to work in..... it is amazing how everything is so well coordinated. Alex has given me great assistance via E-Mail in the past couple of years!! Thanks Geoff!
Bertie was my first engine. I luv it and will never part with it. Very reliable, a strong puller, and once bedded in will run well at realistic slower speeds. Good choice Steve.
I can remember ordering my Lady Anne in 1989 via Brandbright in matt black as a one off. Lovely loco, but moved house so sadly sold it. Hopefully will order another Roundhouse loco one day!
Great video Geoff. It really was an excellent show. I arrived there just after it opened and left just before it closed ! The layouts were fabulous and inspirational. My favourite trade stand was Roundhouse. They have fantastic products. Ive ordered a Bertie ! I'm currently kit building a Billy with much help from your George build videos. Thank you for those :-)
Thanks for the comment John. I have to agree it is a bit shaky, but I did warn the viewer of this at the start of the tour. I'm just your average Joe live steam enthusiast with a camera in his hand that happens to share his experiences on RU-vid. I do not claim to be any sort of prof. cameraman with fancy gear, etc. If you are not satisfied with the quality of the video you can always move on to another video
I only have Roundhouse engines in my collection. Very reliable. If I need support Roundhouse are only a telephone call or email away. Even though I am in The Netherlands, they are willing to send stuff over no problem
Good day Geoff The Roundhouse people are really welcoming and willing to help, whether in person, via email, or on the phone. Had a tour last fall and really enjoyed it Cheers
Great video Geoff. Really interesting to see all the components in all their glory, in box after box on the shelves. Feels very real not all sterile. I am hoping to make it to Doncaster on the 2nd, quite a long way from the south east where I live, but if you can make it from the Netherlands I now have no excuses. Thanks for all the work you put into our hobby. Regards Garry.
Thanks for the compliment. Why not make a long weekend of it? You could visit the National Railway Museum in York and go for a ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway...I did :)
@@gasmith841 OK, I popped up to Doncaster (500 mile round trip - but so worth it) I did Crich Tramway museum on the Saturday and spent a great couple of hours at Roundhouse on Sunday. Every member of staff was so warm and open. Bigger factory than I envisaged. Regards Garry
Hi Geoff, compliments for this interesting movie! I have many modells Roundhouse and I thing they are the better locomotives in the world! Cheers Fabrizio - like 13
Great video Geoff and a real good impression of this wonderfull show. I don`t have a problem with the video being dark because I presume it was dark in this hall. Thanks for sharing, Bram
