Ive recently changed my bike from the GS to a CF Moto 800 MT Explore. I made this decision after owning seven previous BMW bikes Comes a time in your life when you cant afford all the expensive German machinery. The MT800 Explore is a superb cost effective machine and i will enjoy many miles touring and vlogging.I enjoy days on the bike in Wales and the Peaks I more often than not am on my own hence the name but do sometimes group ride with my friends I do tours also day rides Café visits Tech tips for Motorcycles and Riding Equipment I used to race Motocross some years back and achieved a decent standard as Expert in the AMCA I've got the damaged body now to prove it shot knees elbow and back I use an DJI Action 3 camera on the helmet with an Insta 360X3 for some special cinematography .I'm an IAM Master with Distinction and a National Observer. I recently got into the RU-vid making videos after retiring from work I'm based in West Midlands.
I have the remote for the 360, and it is a game changer. You're right. The 360 x3 is a bit of a faff, especially when it comes to the edit. However, it is a nice touch to a video and does add an extra dimension, especially the 360° capability. Anyway, it's a nice video with some helpful tips. Thanks for the subscription, and I look forward to seeing more from you. All the best...

Greetings from Canada! I am curious about what crash bars you ordered. There are so many on Ali Express but I want to ensure the colors match as best as possible like yours. Were these ordered directly from CF Moto or someone else? Could you provide a link if it was someone else? I just purchased a new Explore model in black yesterday and appreciate your time investment in making these videos. I am a new subscriber, thanks Lone Wolf!
@@phildolecki2598 hi and thanks for subscribing. I got them from Ali Express they are not a perfect match but they are prett good you can only tell from really close up that the paint is the same colour but a different finish. I can’t find the link as once you’ve ordered them they go from your orders in pretty quick time. Hope that helps you
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides I think I might order them directly from CF Moto Canada and hope they are a matched finish/color. They cost a bit more than Ali ones but fingers crossed they match up. Thanks for your quick reply.
It is a shame CFMoto left us high and dry with the snatchy throttle problem. Especially since they addressed it in other countries but won't fix it in the UK or US. I love mine, but may eventually give it up because of the poor fueling. If I do, I will never buy another CFMoto as they don't value their customers enough to fix a known problem!
@@deathwish24620 very true mate. I’m hoping having been in contact with China and now UK headquarters are dealing with my complaint see what transpires. In reserve I’ve found a tech wizard with a Dyno who may be able to sort it if everything else fails
Your block paving needs weeding😂 Good tip regarding keeping your bike away from prying eyes especially on a Sunday afternoon in summer when thieves are known to drive round estates looking to see where bikes are being cleaned. I clean mine using touchless cleaning as much as possible. My 1st stage is a spray with ph neutral TFR from a pump up garden sprayer which is a lot cheaper than using snowfoam and having to buy the lance plus you don't have to clean it off the drive after. I then jetwash that off after 5-10 mins with an Auto nozzle on my jetwash. Next I use the 2 bucket method with a MF mit and suitable soft brushes, then another rinse. I then use my pet dryer (but without the heating element on) to dry the bike. Lastly I apply a good quality detailing spray to the paint and plastics inc the screen then wipe off with a MF cloth. This last bit is key as that makes getting the flies and crap off much easier next time I clean the bike during stage 1. I don't have a chain either which also helps!
Nice one mate. The things we do for the love of a motorcycle. My wife thinks I should take as much detail when I’m cleaning the bathrooms and showers lol. Nice to hear from you again I’m just now waiting for the keyboard warriors to attack lol. Ride safe mate
I know, I often spend too long cleaning mine (according to SWMBO) You've just got to find a method that you like, usually refined after making c*ck ups! I learnt the hard way not to clean mine while the engine was still warm, the resulting waterspots are a sod to get rid of, especially on a black engine😂 shame you can't seem to solve the snatchy throttle, just hope it doesn't completely spoil things for you. Trouble is once you have something like that it's hard not to ignore it and sometimes it's easy to blow it up out of proportion. Good luck 👍
@@Bazza47 i may have got an answer on the throttle,CF Contacted me today they are gonna look into it.If they dont ive found a specialist guy who can work magic on the ECU Got a Dyno and softeware to do all sorts
Do you have any audio on what he OEM can sounds like with the link pipe with the small cat? I live in Switzerland and here rules are super strict ... want to try and get a little more sounds with OEM can.
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides I'd look at some baffles on the bay and get out the mig welder but not everyone has a dark arts degree. They're only blob welded in 3 spots usually. Good luck with your channel.
Well I don’t thank any one could be worse then me for meddling!! 😂love it glad you did it. Hope they release the up date for the throttle mine drives me nuts
@@stephenbryson5618 thanks for your comment. Drives me soft too. I’m very disappointed that CF Moto has not or appears not to want to look after its existing customers who spent money on the premium bike of the range and have been left with a throttle issue. You can blame emissions for everything but that doesn’t detract from the lack of support to correct it. Unless they send one to the dealers none over the air upgrades will sort it.
I just removed my cat delete pipe today and put the original cat/resonator box back on with the stock muffler. I originally went with the open cat delete pipe and a LeoVince muffler from Aliexpress, but it was horrendously loud and raspy. Put the stock muffler back on with the cat delete and it was better, but still loud when you opened up the throttle. I purchased a better baffle for the LeoVince and will eventually try it with the cat installed. Was able to remove/install the cat delete and the stock cat without having to remove the peg plate, though it was a struggle.
@@deathwish24620 yes mate I’m very tried all sorts of scenarios lately I will probably still be playing with in time to come. It’s the throttle issue that bugs me but I think I may have found someone to re map the fuelling so I will have a discussion with them as to the best exhaust system to use and with or without the cat. Thanks for your comment I really appreciate your feedback
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides I had my ecu flashed by TeamMSC, but was not happy with the tune. I ended up sending my ecu back to them to have the stock tune put back. Their tune did add a lot of power and smoothed out the throttle a bit, but I ended up with a very rough idle and pretty bad surge when riding between 3k and 4k rpms. I decided I would rather live with the stock snatchy throttle issue.
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides I think they are still learning how to do a proper tune. I did like the power increase. It was amazing. Shame they made everyday riding less enjoyable. They will be selling pre-tuned ecu's soon so you can keep your stock ecu and switch in a tuned one. I may consider getting one. They are pretty good to work with and did give me a full refund when I had them put the stock tune back into my ecu, so they are definitely reputable.
Good Ole Ali, I’ve watched your videos and got a few things from there now Ivan. Exhaust is on the list, but no rush as yet. Keep the videos coming 👍🏻😀
I have latest updates 61 throttle reset 42 tooth sprocket. I am a retired mechanic after thinking this surgethrottle problem it is the same as my Ducati hyperstrada had with evap canister they have a 6.5mm inlet on throttle body that is opened thru electronic purge valve this causes lean running at lighter throttle openings. I have fitted a evap canister delete it is now as smooth in sport mode as it is in rain mode. Went for a 390klm ride yesterday slow speed high speed twisties etc it is now one of the smoothest bikes to ride .better tham my ducati hyperstrada @ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides
Hi Ivan a little advice needed if you dont mind Before I order the lowering kit does it really make a difference and lower the bike aporox 25mm? Thanks Tony
Hi Tony. Yes it does it’s a better solution than a lowered seat I found the lowered seat too hard and uncomfortable. The bike doesn’t layover as much on the side stand but I’ve found it safe.
I've subscribed! Just got myself an 800MT as well. Saw your Quadlock wireless charger there. Is it the USB model or the 12V? I'm hoping it's the 12V version as I'm trying to find a wiring loom to connect it to that only activates while the bike is turned on.
Hi mine connects to the USB socket on the left hand side of the bike. If you want to connect it to the bike with 11 volts I would use a thing called a Healtech Thunderbox. I use it to power my additional spot lights and my INNOV Camera system
Nice video Ivan, keep up the good work mate. Everytime I watch one of your videos it makes me go out on my Explore…..although work gets in the way a lot 😂
You mised a bit..... where you stopped after the 1st dam behind the white car if you'd have turned left and gone over the bridge with all the arches Claerwen dam is at the end of that road. There's some toilets in the bottom carpark and another set on the other side of Craig Goch too if you get caught short. The water's very low considering what a crap summer we've had, it's one of my favourite places to ride to and I must try and get over there again this year before the bad weather sets in.
@@Bazza47 cheers for that mate I will do that next time before I do the mountain pass to Aberystwyth. Weather permitting. How’s the fuelling on the 450. Still waiting for update for the explore model.
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides well there's definitely only 1 of me! I'm the Bazza with the R1250RS and you know what the fuelling's like on that engine 👍

Thank you my friend how is life in Mexico on the 800Mt I’ve been to Mexico several times but only to visit while on a cruise. I appreciate your comment and support please keep following me more to come
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides Yes - Am based in NI. The one I got from Ali Express was too short and left a gap at the front or if pushed forward would not align with the brackets/holes for the screws to secure it.
I'm not a fan of loud pipes, along with dickhead riding it's the other main thing that gives us all a bad name and at the end of the day an extra few kgs weight of the standard one ain't going to make any noticeable difference to the bike's preformace during normal riding on the road. You'll probably get used to the throttle over time and naturally ride round the issue so I'd just go with the flow and accept it for what it is and enjoy the ride.
True mate I just love tinkering I guess. Throttle is getting better and I think I’ve worked out the biggest weight is my top box with all the bits I carry. Thanks for the comment.
I think the standard can sounds ok mate and doesn’t draw too much attention. Been touring around Normandy, and if I had a loud can it would have do my head in. 😂

Hi legend. Did you have any issues with the 17t sprocket hitting the front case. I've gone down to a 15t front and it mad fun but too short so looking of going the other way up to a 17. How much pick up has it lost you think?
@@WogsRus1 as far as o can see no impact on the front. Case. Pick up depends onthe mode. Slightly slower in rain but otherwise nothing really Don’t stop the jerky throttle though
@@ivanrushtonthelonewolfrides thanks legend. Ordered mine today. Keep up the great videos and enjoy. The explore version in Aus must be a bit different, but I also have a fuel dongle, and the throttle is like 90% better

A couple of years ago I had a 2002 Honda Hornet 600 with a straight through, 4 into 1 pipe, it sounded wicked at full chat. I am an old boy though, who prefers bikes to sound like bikes and not sewing machines........
