Hey there! My name is Steffan and I have a passion for cars just like you! On this channel you will find primarily Japanese car content, but I like it all! I can't wait to share my passion and builds with the world!
I had my CLS 6sp since 2004 and rarity is the truth. Went to an east coast Hondafest this year (2024) and I was the only CL. Ton of comments on when anyone last saw one.
The 2001-2002 didn't have have driving (fog) lamps either. Those were 5 watt white parking lights. The TL Type S had and maintained 55 watt driving lights. Also, the TL had a sub woofer and CL did not. Why those major difference were, I have no idea. And I couldn't get an answer from Acura as to why. Currently, the 2nd gen TLX Type S doesn't allow for, not even as an option, the driving lamps that are on the lesser TLX's. And, the current Integra Type S also, does not have driving lamps.
The problem with the automatic transmission was with the 2nd gear. It was faulty. The car would would be traveling in the final drive gear and suddenly, due to the faulty gearing, the vehicle would suddenly downshift to 1st gear, of which created a severe stress on the transmission, of which would destroy it. To rectify the issue, Acura recalled the vehicle, make the necessary repair, and then, warranty the transmission for about 8 more years. No problems at all with the 6MT though....)
@@SteffanJohal For sure, I see the occasional SRT4, or SS, but in 5 years, only two MSP's. I miss the days where manufacturers weren't afraid to release silly/fun simple cars like that.
Got a good deal on a CL-S ‘03 with Manual, love it very much. The reason I’d say the TL 3rd gen tops the CL is because it uses the same transmission, and it has two doors, which is all I think the CL needed.
There's a guy here on YT - Car repairs made simple. His 02 TL-S has over 330k miles on the original tranny and counting. I have a near showroom condition 03 TL-S with 190k km. I had the tranny rebuilt with non Honda internals and added a tranny cooler. Seems good for now and the shop has customers with over 200k on their rebuilds. They say not to put back honda parts. I Will do the AV6 Accord swap if this goes out. I also had an 06 Aspec when it first came out - Tranny had to be replaced the first week as it literally took 3 seconds for reverse or forward to engage. Good video man.
I got a clean title, no rust '06 w/ Black interior for cheap due to 2nd gear not working (probably a broken shift fork, seems to be very common on these). I got a super low mile transmission for cheap locally, had an 8th gen SI OEM LSD installed into it, along with HR detent & shift selector springs & HR cable bushings, OEM Honda axle seals, lightweight flywheel & Action Stage1 clutch & new trans mounts. It's all finally ready to be installed into the car. I already have Tein coilovers, front & rear camber kits, RL big brake kit w/ stainless lines, 17x8 gold RPF1's w/ 235/45 Pilot sport 3 tires ready to go in as well. Should be a fun car when it's done.
got a 03 TL-S near mint love it but that trans just literally started slipping hard on a week ago X_X in the Trans shop right now. X_X. The car only had 125000 km (77671 miles) on it
Got a tc a year ago after totaling my previous car and I’ve loved it since. Got it for $2500 with 179k miles needed lots of maintenance when I got it but knew it was going to worth it. Since then all I’ve done was replace rusty parts since the car sat for a while with the previous owner and I also live in Jersey. Also just been adding little things to make it look “oem+” but I’ve heard many bad things about these but If ur on top of maintenance you’ll be good forever.
Just bought a TC 2 weeks ago I needed daily for my 100 mile commute to work.I wanted a celica but those things cost 5k plus anything under 5k are ether salvage , won’t pass smog, have a ton of miles, have no AC and more than likely need a ton of maintenance. So I bought a 2008 tc with 130k miles clean tittle, zero leaks, passed smog and has cold AC so far it’s a great car.bought it for 2,900. It’s a 5 speed manual. You made Great video 👍🏼
Mine been nothing but reliable beside the turbo had to get it rebuild just for the info here when you get the code to change the piece on the turbo I forgot the code it tend to crack in the inside keep that in mind
Hondas greatest the kb1 rl/legend. Best car ive ever experienced. I have a 07 TLS as well and its insane how much more built the RL is. Nothing ever has compared from acura again.
I have the 8th gen Accord Coupe 5 speed manual, I4. Bought new, still driving great. Neighbor has the 7th gen Accord Coupe, and not gonna lie, it hasn't aged as well as the 8th gen styling wise and is smaller, but it has a better interior.
I remember that back then (2008ish timeframe) there were rumors in the Honda/Acura forums of a “new” NSX test mule in camo irc. This car was that test mule. I think this car was supposed to be a response to Nissan’s GT-R and Toyota’s/Lexus’ LFA set to release about a year or so later. Would like to know how high exactly does the HSV rev though.
The Comptech supercharger made for the 3rd gen TL made the same numbers mostly. Sad thing is they discontinued it and its rare to find the comptech s/c for sale used.
Nice video. I just bought a 2005 with 70000 miles less than a week ago. It’s like new. I think the TOP GEAR boys were wrong too! Mine is in Midnight Pine with a black and basketball tan interior. That stereo is pretty amazing too. Oh and you don’t have to listen to grandma’s tapes; I make 90 minute Spotify playlists and put them on cassettes. Way louder than broadcasting via Bluetooth. Cheers
I bought an '03 Cl a few months back, it's an automatic... last weekend an '03 CL type S popped up... with a 6 speed... they're both in my driveway now, lol! Good lord help me!
